For example, not sure why two more diamonds were added where his shoulder pads are. And I like Mr. Sinister with a red belt as it's a nice contrast to all the black/dark blue on his suit. But, whatever, that's an creative license that doesn't harm much.

What I'm not digging is the thigh-high leg warmers. Yes, I know that in some Sinister designs they are depicted like this, but it can vary -- even in Silvestri art. I hope that they are revisited to make them lower, more like a shin guard that terminates on the front of the thigh (perhaps flush to his leg instead).

I do wonder what pose will be used! And does this mean that soon we will see a Scott, Jean and Madelyne (Goblin Queen) to round out the family history?

Me either with an unfinished T-pose.:laugh: This was shown to show the frame / body of Mr. Sinister. The costume comes later. I think they got the frame on Mr. Sinister just about right.

Well sonic I'm sure after pose and base are done it will be great but those are just first shots of him being drawn in anatomical position on Z-brush which they typically do at first before they get the rest done! But I'm sure you already know this Sonic...

After doing some poking around I agree he's diamonded out too much, and I would like to see this with red belt as well as different boots too.... If doing shorter ones I think it would diminish the sight or thought of leg warmers... But it's still early and I'm sure this will turn out nicely...

Either sitting on a throne/chair or have him standing up like a badass. The piece of fabric from his cape that goes around the back of his head should go higher than the top of my head, IMO. But I'm sure XM will do him justice, for sure a highly anticipated character people been wanting.

I hope this design evolves a little. I was hoping for XM's modernizing take on characters, like they did for Thanos and Magneto.

Sinister is a character I've always liked, but thought his design was missing a little something. I can say I'm not a fan of those shoulder pauldrons. Never understood them for superheroes and never liked them on Wolverine or SS Apocalypse, etc. Also agree on the "diamonds" issue. I'd be fine with the normal two, or even one (or even... sacrilege... none).

Spent several days off the forums, come back and I see MY FAVORITE CHARACTER SPIDER-MAN and icing on the cake, one of my favorite villains, MR. SINISTER!!!!

Diamond overload indeed. I'd remove the shoulder and belt diamonds. He only needs a diamond on his chest and head.

I'd also do away with the undies. And looking at his head to body ratio, it's probably not off but Mr. Sinister was originally HUGE, so his head would be a bit smaller to the body. He was originally taller than Sabretooth. I hope this Mr. Sinister is on the tall side.

Other than that I'm happy to say I'm not mad at the overall costume design and I'm really digging the head sculpt.

I don't want to spend XM money but wow...Mr. Sinister is exactly what I've been wanting.

I think a nice classy simple base on a non-action pose statue is the way to go. i'm not a fan of the storytelling base trend on large-scaled museum posed on statues. I like envorinoment bases, but storytelling bases to me are kinda elementary and unnecessary for someone spending thousands on a statue.

That's also how I want him to look. God, on one hand you have SS who just rehashes the same tired characters over and over. On the other, you have XM who finally does a Mr. Sinister, but they have to choose the most modern costume they can find. Plus, you know they'll add 50 extra textures and buttons, buckles and other ---- to his costume to where it doesn't even resemble classic Sinister anymore.

That is fine, but there are plenty of people who will pass on a statue just because of the base. So, while you're not going into a statue just because of the base, it absolutely can be a detractor. Here you've already seen 5-6 replies from Mr. Sinister fans and none of them like this or are willing to buy it. So, there's a problem.

The more I think about this, the more this reminds me of the current situation in Hollywood of taking a beloved franchise and completely ruining it by changing what people loved about it in the first place. Then, if you don't like it, you're a hater :laugh:

But that's the thing. In this instance, I don't think XM ruined anything. Shocking - I know - since they tend to go totally left on designs and can ruin stuff. For this statue, they nailed the current comic version of Sinister while still adding their XM outfit flair.

Problem is, like we agree on, a lot of collectors want the classic Sinister. Not Sinister that is presently in the comics because he does seem to have done a 180 in his personality.

Just putting it out there - if the can so this well on the current comic version of Sinister, I'm kinda excited to see a Krakoa inspired Storm.

That analogy was more directed to what Marvel did with Sinister as opposed to what XM did with him. XM just got stuck doing it in statue form. My guess is Marvel made them do this, because I doubt XM themselves thought this is what Sinister fans want. I think they're going to have a tough time selling this piece.

That's the one thing that has been an issue with me on XM, they are just looking like maybe a step above most customs, in some cases as bad as a lot of customs.

Its the best thing that have happened to the X-Men in years. I love the X-Men but reading it can be a convoluted mess. Every time before when you would ask where to jump in you would get this confusing and expensive place to start with books from 20 years ago. Now I would say Start with Hickman go forward and if you're curious by all means go back and read classic stories so you can understand all the references.

I'm here for the progression in the terms of costumes. The Jim Lee era of designed is soooo tired. With Sinister there hasn't been much of a costume change. I think it's the base and pose that are killing people with this piece.

Been waiting for years for a licensed 1/4 scale Mister Sinister and this one here, just an utter disappointment to me and all Sinister fans around the world. Looks like Sideshow will be our next hope (we know how they like to tackle lower level characters) to get an OG Mister Sinister, but that could take another 12 to 13 years. I'll be almost 60 years old at that point, SMH! That's crazy to even think but that's another story for another day. Bowen Designs up until this point is the only company that was able to deliver to us a Sinister that most of us remember.

I guess this opens the door and room on my plate for me to order the Phoenix and Jean Grey Maquette.

Then again, there are a lot of versions of Killer Croc and Mr. Freeze and I think the few statues those have gotten over the years have been well received. Particular versions in particular scales have been rough, but it seems collectors in general have made exceptions to own the characters.

If you asked ANYONE here to post a pic of the sinister they want in statue form I?m pretty sure not many people would pick this. Two face would be easy imo - two tone suit, handsome dent portrait, gnarly burnt portrait - done. Just don?t make him look like tommy lee Jones two face and the rest is easy

I?m not so sure. Sinister has one look people wanted (more or less), they just ignored it for mystery reasons. Two Face has a general look but they won?t do a straight BTAS one. There can be way more variance on skin color, texture, distortion, suit style, suit color, hair, etc. And that?s all before you get to base or pose.

Then again, there are a lot of versions of Killer Croc and Mr. Freeze and I think the few statues those have gotten over the years have been well received. Particular versions in particular scales have been rough, but it seems collectors in general have made exceptions to own the characters.

Ha, Croc is one where I?m really picky about versions. Think the Prime 1 is the only I really like. But Ang did just say Samurai Croc is coming soon.

I do really like the Freeze statues we?ve had, but the Sideshow reception wasn?t great at first. And that is a pretty classic, well-executed piece.

Tentacle p*rn is a thing, and they figured this would get more sales to target that audience. Not for me, but if it gets XM more sales i guess they gotta give the people what they want.

Looks a little better but it is still based on modern Sinister from Dawn of X, whose personality and visual look is a far departure from classic Sinister. To put down the money current XM prices are a new concept and resculpt would be needed but its already too far in the process for that to happen. I will stick with my Bowen Sinister, still the best Sinister licensed or fan art.

I don’t like the red inside his cape. I know he had that look for a while, but the black looked better. Changing the base would have been enough, but they can’t even get repaints correct.

This happens time and time again with XM because they don’t know sources material and choose not do any research on character design past a simple Google comic cover search. Seriously, it’s sad and tired. They could have made a fortune off this character if they had taken any time at all to do research or ask people for some issues with good interior pages.

The base wasnt the issue as it matched the comic. The issue is that XM attempted to combine both classic and new Sinister and it just doesnt work. It's gotta be one or the other.

That was a great idea for Sinister! Claremont has to be one of the best writers of all time. Nothing compares to X-men storytelling except maybe Batman, I really hope MCU does them justice.

Exactly. Of all the characters to theme as Krakoa, Mr. Sinister was the worst choice. And as of the current comics Sinister is no longer sided with the X-Men anyway.

Magneto in Krakoa White (I know they did white already, but the Krakoa costume is a bit different), walking Professor X in Cerebro helmet, Wolverine modern brown, Jean’s current gala inspired costume, Cyclops Krakoa Blue costume and Storm (either X-Men Red, Gala or Brotherhood) should’ve been the entire Krakoa line up. Those are the most worthy costumes and fit the theme best (just my opinion).

XM just needs to release the first painted version as a House of X and then make a totally different classic Sinister.
