More than likely. Its probably just one of the many switch out parts for the Prime. I'm still clueless as to how some of these switch out parts are going to be done. If he has a rocket pack, does that mean he will multiple switch out poses like Iron Man Mk 7? Will he be able to be displayed both hovering in the air with the axe hand AND also be displayed on the ground with the gun and more of a leader type pose?

Still a mystery.

I didn't expect switchable rocket boosters! OP is going to have so many switch outs. From looking at the concept arts and 3d wips, I can already see 7 switch outs and from watching one of Radd Titan's video, Ben from XM said there will be a"gift or something special" that will come with OP. I have no idea what is it but welcomed it.

As stated on XM facebook, Op will be 67cm or 26.8 in. from head to toe without the base, and from guessing the max. width with his gun and ax, I' ll said around 32 in. He is going to need lots of display space.

Really liking this, I wanted to see more pics! Come on XM.

He used a jet pack in a couple of episodes (Borrows Sideswipe's in More than meets the eye and takes a generic one in Dinobot Island).

Gonna be quite awhile before we can see OP painted. I reckon it's gonna be another 2 months for approvals before going to print (1 month) and then engineering modifications and master painting by Seng (1 month) so all in all my estimate is earliest March 2017.

Going to be a looong wait. I'm sure XM will lessen the pain with updates along the way... hint hint ;)

I think it's the same pose with many switchouts. For lights, maybe just the eyes. The guns probably not because there are so many of them.

Loricstone, how do you feel about the battle damages as shown on the color render of the head? I know you said earlier, you like them to be pristine with shiny car finish.

I have no problem with the side view mirrors at all any more. In fact, I think it adds to the aesthetic. The front part of the feet are fine, its the heel part that could change IMO. As it is now, it looks like he has chicken feet...for lack of a better term. Just make the foot flat, and it fixes everything IMO.

If you're in a region like the USA, after shipping is included, you're looking at around $1800+ or so...maybe more depending on how much shipping costs for this item. Shipping has increased recently so have to take that into account.

Especially when you consider there are a bunch of characters bigger than Prime (assuming they'll all be in scale?) and that you'll need to fit about 20+ of them into your display area...

XM did a fantastic job here. I admit i was doubting them when they were not doing a G1 accurate Optimus but they have come through.

So many poses and options. I love it and will be picking one up!

A couple of small design improvements could be made from my point of view (the feet, abs and "snake") but you can never please everyone. It blows Prime 1 out of the water! Well done XM guys. Love you all!

In comparison to what? See that is what I can't understand when I see comments when there is nothing to compare him to (other XM TFs' relatively speaking). Damn what you know about cartoon G1...this is not cartoon G1...it's XM inspired G1...much like how Steve Wang envisioned the Predator he did for Cinemaquette. Once other XM TFs are released, then you can better say if his legs are short and stocky. Wait until the Bumblebee and Megatron are released. If this was G1 cartoon Optimus, I would be inclined to agree because he has long legs in the cartoon...but this aint that. Actually, IMO, it is far better and more modern. This is the kind of TF style and details I envisioned when I brought it up in the PCS TF threads years ago. Optimus at the standard 24" in height and everyone made around his height. So I expect Megatron to be around the same height, maybe a smidge bigger than Prime. Ultra Magnus should be at least 25" - 26."

As far as the legs, I don't see thick and short. I see powerful, detailed, well proportioned to the rest of the frame and in addition still have that boxy G1 style look.

This is IMO BY FAR the most impressive statue to start out a line of collectibles from any statue company I have ever seen...bar none!!!

Now maybe I am biased because TF is my favorite license in pop culture / entertainment history, but the details, amount of switch out and cool poses that make sense and have relevance to his role as autobot leader, alternate pose just with a turn of the head, insane details, yet still have the same G1 feel and look of Optimus, cool inclined base with tons of details, not to mention another cool addition that has not been shown yet...this is so far forward thinking and captivating a statue by any company I have seen coming in 2017...save all except for maybe the XM Hulkbuster and definitely the XM XMen dio that I don't even have to say it quite honestly.

Pushing the industry forward...that is what XM does and it is why I am so enamored and appreciative of all the hard work these guys do. I still won't say this is perfect (what is quite honestly), but it sure is the closest thing I have seen to perfection for a statue that demands this kind of money. For the money, there is so much more thought...better design...cooler poses...and closer G1 feel although it is highly detailed than any other TF statue it's not even funny.

I think I am going to have Prime posed with his head turned to the cool display on his arm while he is holding the gun high in the air. So many great options...this is forward thinking in this hobby...and that alone IMO is why people in this hobby should be congratulating XM and giving them credit instead of slighting them. In fact, what makes this even more impressive, is that it almost gives the impression that he can transformed (upper torso speaking).

PUSH THE INDUSTRY FORWARD! And believe me, with prices increasing across the board, I want more bang for my buck. Plus cool art prints and booklet and best packaging in the industry...what more does XM have to do to gain the respect of collectors? Plus, fan interaction and opinions...it's like the Hulk needs to punch collectors to wake them up about getting your money's worth.

This is an expensive product...no doubt, but seriously, the SS Predator is $1249...and all he is doing is standing there. No forward thinking on poses, inaccuracies out the butthole, a company that is headstrong and not willing to at least garner opinions on things that are clearly wrong on a movie collectible. It's time to wake up and move forward!! Humanity has never progressed by doing the same old thing. Its the same thing in just about any industry on our planet.

I think it's their usual license + Australia. I could be wrong though. I just saw Australia and that was all I needed to know :P

I've pretty much stopped all statue purchases and consolidating them into TF's. IA, P1 (Beast Wars) and these. There may be something that comes along which breaks that but there are exceptions to every rule... P1 Joe's, I'm looking at you...

I'm actually pretty excited, more for the line than just Prime to be honest. I can't wait to see what else XM has in store for us with Transformers.

On Prime, I don't get the snake in the base, however it can be overlooked. I still don't like the rear view mirrors however if it hasn't been fixed by now, I doubt it will be. Seems as though they've fixed the toes a bit which is good. I'd love if there was an alternate head where the "ears" were longer.

The Matrix needs to be bigger, if not for accuracy sake, then so it doesn't disappear in his hand.

Now that's out of the way, how amazing is the communication panel on his arm! How good are the switch out parts! I have no issues with the proportions. If anything, I think the arms look a little thin in some of those shots.

I'm on board for this and the rest of the line.

I like the switch outs as they are all usable and the G1 likeness is great! The pose is great with the many possibilities of good switch outs. Great job xm! Keep it up! Will hope for the rest of the big hitters soon like dinobots, shockwave, g1 jetfire with box art and tv switch out heads, megatron, etc.

I would to like see a switch-out gun when Optimus is not holding the matrix and also the matrix is being made of real blue gem/crystal.

Maybe it's the angle or perspective, but the pose when OP is holding the ax and matrix, his upper body seems to be leaning too back. Would like his upper body more perpendicular.

I like the earlier wip pose when his left leg was higher and his right leg more twisted to the left, it makes his waist looks leaner and has a more powerful pose.

I would to like see a switch-out gun when Optimus is not holding the matrix and also the matrix is being made of real blue gem/crystal.

Maybe it's the angle or perspective, but the pose when OP is holding the ax and matrix, his upper body seems to be leaning too back. Would like his upper body more perpendicular.

I like the earlier wip pose when his left leg was higher and his right leg more twisted to the left, it makes his waist looks leaner and has a more powerful pose.

I think the only thing XM has said in terms of size is that Optimus is around 26" tall (can't remember if that includes the base or not).

With so many options I need to see this before I buy any Optimus. Saying if it was like years ago with just one release I would have bought the first one I saw long ago. Now we get every guy doing the same licenses at about the same time. IA, SS and prime 1 all are very impressive. But I'm really liking the xm version the most so far. Who knows until I see the painted version to be sure.

I'm thinking the same thing, but probably will get Megatron too. I like to have good vs. bad (Prime vs. Megatron, Snake Eyes vs. Storm Shadow kinda, He-man vs. Skeletor).

HOWEVER, I got to see some WIPs of two other XM Transformers that haven't been officially announced. At least I don't think I've seen them announced anywhere so I won't say more than that, but they look awesome like you would expect. Price is ultimately a determining factor, and as you state, shipping plus msrp will likely price me out as well.

I hate to say it but I think it's too big. Now if you want to do a character like Grimlock and keep it in scale, you'll have to go even bigger :/

Also, look at the arm. That's really interesting, it looks completely different to the digital file. You can see the wheel on the forearm. I wonder/assume if that means he has plating parts that you can remove to reveal certain details underneath?

Anyways, the thing is ....no words! The amount of switchouts ( 5 arms..light up eyes..maybe blue crystal for the matrix..) All the switch-outs is basically another statue, and I don't want to think about the taxes and shipping. This is like Bats all over again, so many display options. I am still curious if the gun will able to switch out with the matrix hand.

Will this be totally clean metallic paint like the Mark 7 ironman( that turned out unbelievable) or have some battle damages like Prime 1 transformers( paint is little rough but battle worn)? Can we have the option to choose?

Omg this thing is incredible!! Incredibly massive and full of details and we all can't wait to see this thing painted! Holy hell im shocked in awe over this piece and have to pick my chin up off the floor!

I'm assuming they are wanting more finer details which will be great, but I feel it already crazy detailed and so much depth to OP it's crazy!!!

Do you guys think this base is little too busy? I think it's on borderline for sure, but I am so stoked and ready to see him painted I can already see it in my head!!

Also, due to size of this piece and all the pieces I can see this one actually being shipped in two separate boxes or they will have to make styrofoam into 3-4 sections but with that op body and base I don't know how they would fit into one box....

And shipping? Oh my lord shipping is going to be horrendously expensive to point of not seeing many of these on secondary markets due to size of boxes and pricing of shipping! Our Ghost Rider that's shipping this week was like $450-$500 to ship! I could see shipping on this piece to be $600-$750 for shipping alone!! Eeeeekk!!!

You play Transformers Earth Wars? So do I. Just startedd playing last week. Have my base up to level 6 finally. I only have 1 3 star character and that's Pyra Magna. I got tons of 2 star characters including Optimus and Ultra. Its a fun strategy game...but I wish one had more control over the individual robots.

Yeah, you eventually get used to how the individual bots roam and how to kinda control it with certain abilities. That said, there will always be moments where they do something that's a real head scratcher.

Pyra Magna, apart from being a terrible concept and toy, is pretty powerful in this game. She's a good one to get as your first 3 star.

I'll keep you in mind Loric when some peeps drop out of our Alliance if you're looking to join one.

Not likely, the XM statues that go for RRP aftermarket are the A and sometimes AA characters. The AAA characters like Optimus go for 50% or more aftermarket. Personally not convinced this one will command GR or magneto prices but doubt you would pay less than 25% more than RRP aftermarket at best. This is a little different though with the starting price. Can't wait to get mine and I don't care what it's worth to sell aftermarket, I just want this bad boy on display!

Optimus is grailish...and I am betting the ES will be < 999 which should help rarity. Considering how expensive these are...XM would be rather foolish to have too high an ES. But...the market will eventually help mold the ES.

I believe it. And shipping could be in two boxes which could run 1000.00 at close to 500.00 each. If one box then maybe around 700.00-800.00? The weight and size will be hard to ship with some not even accepting the box. Medusa was the first already pushing the limits. Some companies turned it down and won't ship it. Imagine this box!

I think it needs to be said here that it is important to remember that XM has focused on having much shorter turn around times on statues they put up for PO. So the reason why you have probably not seen more than just Optimus is that XM is now starting production and painting even before PO so that they have a head start. You can tell XM is increasing production and decreasing PO to release times. Black Panther only went up for PO about 6 months ago.

Supposedly, Optimus is to be released this year. If so, that would indeed fit the timeline of 4 - 6 months release from time of PO. Keep that in mind.

The problem most people (collectors especially) have is they tend to jump the gun on certain lines and characters too fast when they have yet to see what is coming out from the other companies. In the case of XM...this is a huge mistake for anyone to plop $1K+ down on a TF when XM clearly offers much more options and features for close to the same price.

I think the engine rims need some purplish/bluish paint app to make them look more used. I like the wing flaps to be red to tie in the overall color of Optimus. Looking impressive and can't wait to see the whole thing painted.

Yeah after shipping and other fees, I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being almost $2300 USD...maybe even more. Really want to see pics from Thailand Comic Con before I decide to PO.
