If she looked like that I would be tempted but that's just fan art and not official DC Art from the comics so odds are it won't :(

"even with"?
After all these years, that's still the costume design that resonates with me the most. I've always loved that look.

And I would love to see them keep the 'slipper' too.
Go full on early 70's. Save the boots for the modern stuff.

I'm hoping that we can get a feel for the direction of the superpowers line after Sdcc. I'd like to know what era they will be basing it on, or are they going to bounce around from golden age, silver and bronze.

:goodpost: I similarly would love to see the Silver Age 'slipper' look for a Wonder Woman piece as well. I agree with Primus that I'd love to see what direction/era the line has overall so I can plan for it, as much as I'm enjoying these surprises character choices.

"Maquette" just means "scale model", it doesn't imply any particular scale. :)

Since it is Tweeterhead, I think it is 1/6 scale.

Some faces , because of their bone structure and musculature, can pull off a wide toothy smile with open eyes.

In general though, people that try to keep their eyes open as they flash a huge smile for a picture, usually look psychotic.

A spontaneous, or heartfelt smile usually causes the cheeks to push up, and the eyes to appear to squint.
Something to remember when you want to fake a 'sincere' smile.

While it's nice to see the big smile, I don't think the execution comes off all that well because of ^.

It's a close call, but the smile is a little more Joker-esque here than I'd like.
Which is a shame for me, as that's by far my favorite Supergirl costume, and one statue I had always hoped to see.
It does look like they'll be going with the boots here (if the back of the calf indentation is an indication).

Unless some other angles really impress, this will sadly be a pass for me.

Did anyone else notice that she kind of has a bulge in her crotch area. :sly2:

Her ear does look a bit weird, not crazy about the face either. I was hoping they were going to make her more young looking around 18'ish and more cute.... She looks a bit to old to be called supergirl...

Jose Garcia-Lopez is my favorite living comic book artist.

Never would have guessed that design was from him though.

After seeing the full statue I'm gonna have to pass. The facial portrait is the real deal killer for me. It smarts, as I'll probably never see this costume on this character in a statue again- but I'm past the point of trying to justify a spendy purchase when I'm not 95-100% on board with it.

The Yvonne Craig Batgirl was about $50 cheaper on Amazon - though it lacked the "exclusive" trifold flyer (aka the six photos offered as a substitute for the autograph that never happened).

The Yvonne Craig Batgirl was about $50 cheaper on Amazon - though it lacked the "exclusive" trifold flyer (aka the six photos offered as a substitute for the autograph that never happened).

It also lacked the trophy that was supposed to be part of the regular version, but I think they retroactively excluded it due to the autograph situation. Most retailers had it pictured with the statue. I applaud the choice given to direct customers to (IIRC) be refunded or donate the price difference to charity, but the handling of trophy exclusivity bothered me because they didn't even inform the retailers I corresponded with. Luckily Spec Fiction, where I'd ordered initially, honored my cancellation after finding out and changed the photos.

DCBS/Previews does distribute most of them, but I imagine you know how awkward the monthly solicitation cycles are. While Tweeterhead is still relatively obscure, I don't know that I'd risk waiting for DCBS to make it available months after Tweeterhead and Sideshow do. Streaky's also a pretty worthwhile direct exclusive.

Do they? I can't see the actual bottom of the base there, either. I get they must have wanted the base to blend into the clouds backdrop, but I'd like to fully see what I'm buying. Are the clouds simply cut off? Is there a pedestal? They could have shown at least a pic of the whole statue against a monochrome backdrop.

But I would think Supergirl would be before Bud & Lou and Joker since she went up for pre sale before they did.

Now that's a pose! - excellent image.

On the subject of Supergirl - Super Powers Collection 1:6 Scale Maquette, her puffy sleeves make her look old fashioned. The positive vibes are good. Her face gives the impression she's a bit of a.. behind that smile.

I've just picked up my 1st Supergirl piece, the Sideshow PF 1/4 scale. I had my doubt's when Sideshow revealed the piece, and the price i could not justify. Having bagged a good price on ebay, i should be able to form a better opinion when it arrives in the coming days.

Yeah, but I can't recall when anyone has come close to getting an estimated shipping time correct in recent memory. At some point, you'd think a historical failure for factories and customs to meet deadlines would lead to either a more accurate estimated ship date or a later pre-order. For smaller companies, I get that pre-orders can drive the ES. I recall DC eventually soliciting closer to when statues would actually ship - I don't know how much their reliability to meet dates increased. The Prime 1 dates are now over a year out from pre-order and I STILL expect those to get missed.

But, many times it's not that these companies (Tweeterhead is definitely not alone) miss their estimated delivery date - they aren't even close. Supergirl and Mxyzptlk had December 2017 dates. Well, Mxyzptlk STILL has a December 2017 date. Even if Supergirl ships in June, that's still a 6 month delay. For me, I've been around long enough where I already expect a 3-6 (or more) month delay, so this isn't something that is really bothering me. But, I can see where it can put off any newcomers.

Exactly. Anyone one who has been collecting statues for any length of time and frequents the statue forums and FB groups knows his.

But if the companies didn’t provide at least an estimate then buyers wouldn’t be happy. Again, it’s a lose/lose for vendors.

I think the scale and people wanting to see Batman before they start collecting the line played a factor. Collectors only have so much money to spend and there’s DC statues from XM, Iron Studios, Prime 1 and Sideshow coming out. Some may pass on this Superman and go for the Prime 1 Hush, Iron Studios, or Sideshow rebirth instead.

Too many companies, rising costs, the same characters being produced, no room anymore in collectors' rooms, etc. I think that is why the orders are low on the Tweeterhead statues (which are very nice looking). True, and while I enjoy finding good deals as much as anyone else, I also think that it's a disaster when statues sit on store shelves for months/years and sell only when discounted 80% to 90% off MSRP. It sends the wrong message to both manufacturers and retailers.

I don't begrudge anyone for having budget issues with their hobby. I have limits I put on certain statues I want.

The big thing for me is to reward companies for giving me what I want. If I say to Tweeterhead "Give me Big Barda!" and they say "We'll give you two versions!" I do think if I failed to follow through on purchasing day one like I claim (I won't barring a disaster) then I cannot blame them for not catering to me.

Gothamite

Well, I'm sure that Barnes & Noble would be better known amongst collectors for having statues if they price matched at least their own website. In this day and age, it's bonkers for a business to have two different sets of prices. When statues sell for 75% off or $2, B&N ends up thinking that people bought statues only bc they were cheap, not bc people actually want statues. It's a vicious cycle.

Looking at how they were considering different costumes for starfire, I don’t think they are strictly doing classic style. Icon heroes is making classic nightwing and I do not have the prototypez black/blue nightwing, so I would very much prefer black/blue 1/6 scale. But just like you, I would still take another classic nightwing.

At this point I am almost certain we won't see batgirl at SDCC. Possibly a render would be shown if anything.

Agreed. I love Artemis, but as far as this line is concerned, I don't think I personally would pick it up. I think I'm going to stay strictly pre-Crisis -kinda wish they would too. I don't even understand how/why they plan to produce Wonder Girl/Cassie Sandsmark. I'd rather see Hippolyta, Fury, Silver Swan, Captain Wonder, Dr. Psycho, etc.

Dr. Psycho is a must. Silver Swan will be an interesting design challenge as these will all be sculpted parts not mixed media

Grphyx1,
Since I'm still fairly new to this, and just for clarification what exactly is Tweeterhead's design aim with this line? "Super Powers" to me is early 80s...pre-Crisis. Mr. Myx, Supergirl, WW, Superman, Wondergirl, Martian Manhunter, and Catwoman all fit into this -and they're perfect. That's what brought me here and what I ultimately want.

Harley Quinn and Cassie Sandsmark do not fit that description. I'm already concerned about the top hat and tails Zatanna and I'm seeing people requesting punk, clone Superboy and 1999 Kendra Hawkgirl. I want the Super Powers satellite-era JLA and the villains from that same period. Am I going to be disappointed in the long run? Why not just have a separate DC banner not called "Super Powers." That label seems pretty specific to me.

Hmmm…not quite sure how to answer that. For me personally, I have memories of walking into a shoe store (as a kid, no one wanted to go buy new shoes) in my home town and I guess they had started carrying action figures because I turned the corner and the Super Powers Collection Wave three was all on the pegs. Firestorm, Cyborg etc. For me this era is really what I think are the perfect versions of these characters...most of them….When we get around to Mr. Freeze we’ll have to figure out what version to do. When I pitched this line, I basically said “I want to take one part Alex Ross (Brilliant game changer of an artist), one part Jose Garcia Lopez (Who designed our Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Donna Troy, Joker and Robot Brainiac Maquettes), one part Sideshow Collectibles (All Around A+ collectibles and super star team), one part Randy Bowen (amazing sculptor and company) and all of the SPC toys (best toy line ever imo), put them in a pot and see what comes out” Basically getting a definitive classic version of each character in their traditional costume but with a little extra “zing” to bring them up to the modern age. People have joked that I am “Mr. 60’s” because of all the classic TV properties we have covered. It’s nice to at least make it to the 90’s…HAHA!

Nothing at all. I just don't see me picking those up...and that's fine. I'd just like to have those versions (70s & 80s) of certain characters and anything else could be a bonus.

I certainly don't mean others shouldn't have what they want. It's just my OCD wanting consistency in my own collection. Ha. For example, I would not purchase any Zatanna other than the Perez costume for my own display. So I'd just feel like she was missing. Hopefully they'll produce both that and the magician outfit...pleasing everyone.

It just seems easier to me if they tried to produce most everyone in the Super Powers era style guide (in those incarnations) and then branched out to other periods. Again, like I said, it's my OCD wanting a complete matched set.

Think Bowen Designs when considering this line! The Superpowers title is throwing people off in multiple directions like a mechanical bull in a country bar. The Superpowers title has no effect on the lines direction, the line is ment to encompass the entire Dc Universe past, not so past and hopefully not the present as I’ve herd what a horrible state the comics are in! Bottom line you can have multiple versions of characters from various time periods.

It would be good to get some clarification. I wondered if it was a mix-up as well. I mean, the one we're getting is Donna as Wondergirl.

I'd just hope to see all the silver/bronze age WW characters (like Fury and Hippolyta) before they even considered Cassie.

I'd flip if they made Fury. No company has ever made anything in her likeness.

I'm quite partial to that costume as well. The one we're getting was what I was first introduced to, but I even had the issue as a kid where she got her new (Crisis) costume.

It was actually changed from the 1982 style guide to the 1984 one right as the Super Powers line was being created. You can find most of the same style guide images with her in both costumes.

Same here. All of them PO'd so far. Harley is looking pretty lonely by herself. I Have Kandor on another shelf waiting for Supergirl......and eventually the base.

I've ordered them all as well and agree that it's a little frustrating to only have Harley and Kandor on the shelf.

They have listed a lot of statues already, with some of them probably a year out. As exciting as announcements are of upcoming statues, I too think they should focus on getting at least half of the announced ones out the door to customers before telling us about another 5 more upcoming really awesome statues.

The other thing that is confusing to me is that we are getting them out of order. I thought Joker was next then Supergirl.

So I have a question. Should I order each one individually so that I can pay off each one as they're shipped? For example, I put Supergirl, Wonder Woman,.and Superman all on the same order. Because Supergirl is about to be released, will I have to pay off the balance on all 3 at once?

I think it's best if you fire off an email to debbie@tweeterhead.com and ask. I would think you'd pay for each as they are shipped.

I sent an email to Tweeterhead asking about my Catwoman 2nd payment and Debbie responded to me. She said that I would get an email 2 to 3 weeks before the statue is going to be shipped to me asking for my 2nd payment.

I would send an email to Tweeterhead and ask them directly.
