I was expecting something else for Spider Gwen especially based on a Mark Brooks drawing.
fed up with back bag but it's just me.
The "cool teenager from school" feeling is too high for me in this one.
Furthermore the picture gives a koto vibe for the statue and we all know what prices are nowadays, even for 1/5, i can't imagine buying this.
Most of the times i can guess who produces a statue without knowing it.
iron studios, SSC, XM, Prime1 and so on ... all have their vibes and personnal touch it's easy to recognize.

It's a lazy retcon by the terrible Dan Slott. She was a classmate of Peter's and was there when he got bitten by the radioactive spider. After the spider bit Peter, before it died, it also bit her.
She seems like a fairly interesting and neat character, I just don't like when they make changes like this.

Haven't read a new comic since 2001. I don't even know what Spider-Gwen is, but I'm just used to seeing her at this point. I mean, I know it's Gwen Stacy, but the first time I saw her, my eyes rolled so far back into my head I could see my brain.
They might be cool characters, and I know people like them, but meh. Design-wise they're really cool. I won't be buying, but congrats to those who want them.
Bring back the Adam Hughes line. I still need a classic Storm.

Marvel has troubles with creating new characters no doubt. With Gwen, they really should have brought her back in a meaningful way, if that's what they wanted to do. For some reason she is portrayed as a high schooler while Peter is an adult. If I remember right she has a romance with Miles Morales.
I totally agree they did a good job on their costume designs for Silk and Spider Gwen. I just think it's bad these characters are lazily created. An alternate dimension where the roles in "Death of Green Goblin" were reversed?? That's grounds for a one shot "What If", not a character you hope to build around.

Marvel has been trying very hard to "rebrand" in a way. I noticed it in like 2013, shortly after the New 52 from D.C. Started up. They want to appeal to today's youth and also just different adult readers as well. After Hickman and Remeneder runs stopped I was out. Indie comics were smoking mainstream comics out of the water and now it's kinda boring. Going back to classics and still loving it.
Nick Spencer had a few really really fun random series with Marvel too.
One huge plus has been a plethora of amazing artists coming out of the woodwork.
That is always awesome.

Spider-Gwen is in a different universe as the Peter Parker we know best (Earth 616). That is why they are not the same age.

Yeah I'm all in for this line! If it continues past the first three, and I'm hoping it will, then the smaller scale will be appreciated. A set of all the different spidey's in the same scale is my dream.

Putting these with my JSC collection was my thought as well. I just think the sculpting style won't match since JSC's artwork is very distinctive. But having them together would still be pretty cool tho.

The funny thing about Spidey and Silk is the attraction they have for each other when they are together. Don't remember exactly what is was but I think being bitten by the same spider they can't help but get physical with each other when they are together. When I say physical I don't mean fighting :)
I know these artist inspired statues are normally 1/5 but I didn't see it mentioned in the Brooks page so has it been confirmed by a rep it is that size?

You and me both as I really like the designs I see so far and we have yet to see a Silk or Spider-Gwen in 1:4. Oh well, hopefully we will be seeing those characters in 1:4 soon. Just have no interest in 1:5 and 1:6.

Then do what I am doing and just wait for the 1:4. Due to the popularity of both Silk and Spider-Gwen, there is no doubt they will be coming eventually. The only question at this point is just how long we will have to wait.
I actually like Silk more so than Gwen but is she popular enough to get 1/4 treatment? There's plenty of 1/4 Gwens out there but not Silk in any statue size so it could be a long wait for her.

IMO, absolutely. Silk was originally created by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos and first appeared in a cameo in The Amazing Spider-Man Vol.3 #1. She then appeared fully in The Amazing Spider-Man Vol.3 #4. She was so popular that they created her own ongoing series and its been doing very well sales wise. And considering edition sizes for 1:4 statues pale in comparison to the number of comics sold, I absolutely think she is popular enough to have a 1:4 statue release by Sideshow. In fact, I full expect we will see a 1:4 announcement within the next year.
I hope you are right but isn't her comic series going to be canceled, or is cancelled? Sales were poor, 13000 in April. :)

Just like the JSC collection I'm only interested in Spidey. Spiderverse was a very fun storyline.
Silk and Spider-Gwen are good choices since they had significant supporting roles in the story, particularly Silk. If they add any more characters to the collection I hope they tackle the characters who were a larger part of the story:
Spider-Woman Jessica Drew
Spider-Man 2099
Spider-Girl Mayday from MC2
Spider-Girl Araña
Spider-Man Miles Morales
Superior Spider-Man
There's some other characters with cool designs but these characters mattered the most to the story aside from Kaine and Benjy. I could go for a Spider-Ham though.
I hope Gwen has a switchout masked head.

hands seem ok but i agree they could have gone even more simple and remove all the bottom webbing, just keeping the sided one.

You're right re: XM's Gwen. I just meant generally XM and Prime 1 like their big crazy bases, and every Spidey related PF has crazy explosions. I like the simplicity of this. XM's Gwen is simple as well, but I was avoiding the direct comparison because I don't want to comment specifically on the XM Gwen.

Yes. If I was getting this (I'm not due to scale), then I would definitely want the masked version.
