Man I know the feeling. Weta’s 1:6 statue line is by far what I’m most passionate about currently. They’ve really upped their game this year and have so many must haves up for order. Gonna have to purge a bit to finance and make display space.

I agree. In a sea of Marvel/DC/Transformers this line is a refreshing change of pace for long term statue collectors. It fills that niche gap that Gentle Giant used to fill. Because of the medieval/fantasy subject matter the detail that can be achieved in this scale is amazing.

Because it's 1/6 scale and pricey for the size, the Weta stuff gets dismissed. Again, probably because it's LOTR/Hobbit and not Marvel/DC.

No it isn't. But Isidur does feature a lot of shiny armour, and the last time Weta produced a statue with a lot of shiny armour it was Dain on Ironfoot and Weta certainly didn't have a problem butchering the paint apps on that one.

will agree on that up to a point...a positive for me is that these Weta pieces are an easy as pie touch up paint job for me...easiest colors to work with too

I wish I had your skill, but I don't. And I suspect the vast majority of collectors have neither the skill or confidence to tackle these ever increasing paint app issues. And quite frankly, with Weta's recent price increases we shouldn't have to. My last 4 Weta purchases include a beautifully painted MoS with a horse that doesn't fit on the base properly. A Dol Gulder Orc soldier whose hair (facial and back of head) are the same pinkish color as his face, neck, and head. A Grond environment that features two huge black pegs underneath the battering ram frame that either aren't on the prototype or have been photoshopped out of the official Weta website photo's.....either way they're an eyesore and impact how it should be displayed. And a War Troll that based on multiple issues ranging from it not fitting on the base properly to paint apps that don't even remotely line up with the prototype.

Needless to say, my confidence in Weta is waning significantly these days.

No doubt the new pricing model hurts, but I could live with that if the QC was keeping pace. But whereas I rarely had any issues with my Hobbit and LOTR statues from a few short years ago I seem to be having all sorts of issues today. And with the prices being so much more reasonable back then this makes no sense to me. I'm actually wondering if Weta has changed factories in the past year or so.

I can't disagree with you there. When the stars align and Weta nails it, their statues are a thing to behold. :thumbs2:

Fingers crosssd Isildur stays available for a while. It’s definitely a piece I’d like to add to my collection but I won’t be able to afford him for a while. No more Weta orders until February for me, or until Eomer on Firefoot goes up, whichever comes first.

I think given the fact a lot of people just spent a lot of money during the BF sale, and just as many still have to pay off Thrandruil on Elk you should have more than enough breathing room. Ideally, there should be plenty of in hand photo's floating around by the time you decide whether or not to pull the trigger.

I hope you’re right. He seems like a character many had high on their most wanted list so I could see it going either way. Haldir will likely be the same, if not more popular.

Isildur is definitely a sought after piece as he's never been produced in statue form before, but people will go crazy once Haldir arrives. I guarantee, even the most fiscally responsible who have held off on ordering Isildur will throw caution to the wind when Haldir goes up for PO.

Simply stunning. Unlike ToE it looks just like the prototype and it's a testament to what Weta is capable of when they don't mail in a project. Mine arrives this week and I can't wait.

It is truly a production masterpiece...and yes it shows what is capable and more proof just like with the Tweeterhead pieces that 1/6 scale(if done right) can give anybody a run for their money

Pretty sure you own Sauron. If you can would you mind comparing the helmets? Does it appear it would be easy to modify the one that comes with Isildur to fit on Sauron? I’m hoping I can swap my damaged helmet from the Sauron statue with this as I don’t even have it on display anymore after it broke. Thanks in advance.

Will do tomorrow. ..I just tried to reach for saurons helmet from my step ladder but he is sitting on an 8ft shelf which makes his helm ten ft off the ground...needed another foot of reach to get it...get my taller ladder tomorrow ...will take photos for you too...for this new helmet to match the old SSW saurons will have to be painted/touched up quite a bit...plus the new helmet has that magnet area (base side) that has to be removed...some work has to be involved here....bottom line here...ISILDUR IS A PURE WINNER

Isildur left, SSW Sauron right.....#1 Isildur's helm needs magnet bulge removed,#2 needs much more black to match the SSW piece, and #3 lastly needs to fill neck joint up to fit properly on SSW...otherwise he wont have a neck LOL...same size yes, SSW piece much more rigid polystone...new isildurs spines more plastic rubbery pliable feel to them...isildur spines are more even than SSW helm

They don’t allow PayPal payments on pre-orders. Personally I’d like it if they’d at least give you an option to pay it in full that way given it’s simply a refilling of their inventory, not a true pre-order.

Isildur is proof that 1/6 could be as good as any of the larger pieces...his resin face is FULLY painted to perfection unlike Thranduil was on his elk...gratz to all that get this one and hope they all come safely intact
