View Full Version : Pre-Production/Prototype Pics vs In-Hand pics

I think a highly useful tool/thread would be a running, on-going thread compiling direct comparisons between the pre-production/teaser pics vs what actually shows up on our doorsteps via the in-hand shots. Over time, this would help collectors get a feel for what companies are more or less delivering on their promises, at least in terms of paint applications and similarity to the prototype/pre-production shots. This might affect how or if collectors choose to pre-order pieces with confidence. With enough images, it will provide enough statistical power to help us make these types of decisions. What do you guys think?

I think this is a great idea. Maybe a stickied thread in each section?

About time. Wish companies had the balls to do it themselves.. like Prototypez studios im sure are the only ones that did a side by side comparison.

Only good in hand photos allowed though.

The prototype on the left looks better than the production

love the idea, surprised it hasn't been done yet.

This is best done in the first post of a thread, but people rarely update their own threads here. (Indeed, there's one person in particular who loves to create threads but rarely posts otherwise. I guess he just likes being "first".)

People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

I actually update my threads -- especially when the final products don't match the protos.

I won't create another thread again. Like I said 97% of collectors are deplorable.

All I'm saying is when you have posted multiple variations of basically the same thread, opened threads and reserved the first two pages so you can post pictures of items that have been on out a long time, opened threads for items already being discussed and basically taken over an entire section of the forum by posting thread after thread you might not want to get on others for their posting habits.

You're right -- these kinds of OPs look so much better.

What made me consider this was the whole Wolf Pred legendary Scale bust. If I wasn't so anxious to pre-order and could have waited for the in-hand shots, I would have saved myself the $650. Then, because I can't learn from my mistakes, I went ahead and pre-ordered the Prime1/Cool Props Alien 3 1/3 maquette, and now I'm nervous. The final product NEEDS to match what I'm seeing from Sideshow today.

Right, instead we should have deal threads for every online retailer and some ebay users.

Hear that people pack it in, no more threads for anyone else.

That's a mighty high horse you're sitting on by the way.
