If the Wasp statue from the Avengers Assemble line is any indication, then Tinkerbell's wings will be translucent, too. So, yea, there's a strong chance her wings will look just as good (or better) than Soulfire Grace.

Just noticed that, I wish they wouldn't only because odds are it will be painted very poorly like the small vines on the Poison Ivy PF, where the paint of the vines ends up on her skin too.

They look awesome. The frosted clear resin adds a nice consistent element to them. Even though they are in different scales, it still looks like they will display well together. I wonder if they will show the inside of Tink's base?

I really like the scale of these. I don't have any room for new premium formats, just shelves above them. And these will fit perfect.

I'm not busting anyone's reasoning for buying them, but JSC simply took beloved children's characters and sexualized them. Statues are now being made of those sexualized versions and people are loving it. There are actually statues of the normal Disney characters out there, but no one seems to care too much for those. I'd happily buy well-done statues of actual Disney characters. In fact, I already own the Evil Queen, Maleficent and Jessica Rabbit PFs that Sideshow did. Unfortunately, they seem to have either no interest in doing more, or don't have the license any longer.

The appeal is probably a combination of lots of things; fans of JSC, fans of Disney, fans of T&A, fans of pretty things, etc. There's lots going on with these things.

If you're a fan of JSC art specifically, these absolutely nail his art in sculpture form, which is remarkable when you consider how hard that is to do. The Danger Girl PF and the JSC Spidey line are all well done, but these are a step above as far as recreating the art.

I actually can't think of any other statues that nailed any other comic art this well, actually. That alone is a reason to buy them.

JSC is obviously inspired by the Disney interpretations though, so his point, whatever it may be, still stands.

Personally I don't like these for their Disney references, despite being a Disney nut, I like them because I like JSC's art and fairytales. I actually prefer the store exclusive Little Mermaid because it has less Disney reference.

If you follow some of the WDCC FB groups you'd see there is another sub-culture of Disney statue collectors where the Disney characters are "accurate".

JSC, in addition to others, have sexualized Marvel and DC characters.

Igo said there are 3 more characters in the works ...in addition to the original 3 (Ariel, Tink and Alice). So there will be a total of 6 statues for now.

Sounds like they will announce 3 JSC characters at a time. FYI, they said there's no guarantees, so things can change. But right now that's how it will be.

That was me. I stick by it. I'm not saying that they weren't originally drawn in a way that was supposed to convey beauty. I'm merely stating that JSC turned the general beauty into a more sexualized beauty. I have no problem with it as I own quite a few ARH statues and have paintings with nudity in my house. I'm in no way a prude about it. My post a couple pages back was merely stating "sex sells" which I wholeheartedly believe.

But since that's part of the sculpt, the only way to fix it now is to make the iris of her eye bigger. That'll give her eye a better balance between the sclera and iris ...in effect reducing that "bug eye" look.

Yup ...see how the iris touches both top and bottom of her eye. That's how her eyes should be.

I actually like the way her eyes are on the statue because it reminds me of Kylie Minogue playing that sexy green fairy in Moulin Rouge.

Not that I'd be ordering this one way or another because none of these would really have a place in my house. But it's fun to see what they have lined up nonetheless.

The statue eyes are fine. The are still reflective of Campbell's style. Just because the iris doesn't touch both the waterline and top lid doesn't mean anything. I seriously think people have to scrape for things to complain about.

Also, remember, J Scott Campbell is "updating" this art to his current style. I think she matches the art on the plaque that Sideshow is including with this piece. Especially the main figure in this art. The main difference I notice is that the art has heavy eyeliner. I am fine with Sideshow keeping her makeup more natural.

I am glad they have 6 pieces planned. I am sure those will all depend on sales.
Hopefully the sales are strong. I sure loved the Fairytale Fantasy art.

Yea, her eyes are a tad bigger. Good catch.

But since that's part of the sculpt, the only way to fix it now is to make the iris of her eye bigger. That'll give her eye a better balance between the sclera and iris ...in effect reducing that "bug eye" look.

The statue eyes are fine. The are still reflective of Campbell's style. Just because the iris doesn't touch both the waterline and top lid doesn't mean anything. I seriously think people have to scrape for things to complain about.

Also, remember, J Scott Campbell is "updating" this art to his current style. I think she matches the art on the plaque that Sideshow is including with this piece. Especially the main figure in this art. The main difference I notice is that the art has heavy eyeliner. I am fine with Sideshow keeping her makeup more natural.

I am glad they have 6 pieces planned. I am sure those will all depend on sales.
Hopefully the sales are strong. I sure loved the Fairytale Fantasy art.

Looking at Tinkerbell, her base looks complete with it's gold edge. Little Mermaid, while i prefer the statue, the base with it's black edge, looks unfinished. Alice could be the highlight of the line, if the statue turns out close to the concept art :)

I think tink's eyes look fine the way they are. I can see the improvement in some of your guys's edits, but as it stands now if nothing changed I would be fine with it. They aren't bad as is. Could they be improved? For sure! But as I said I think they're good as is.

I haven't jumped into this line and I'm not yet sure if I will. But I'm considering it. I think Mermaid and Tink look great!

I, on the other hand, am super glad she's not. I don't want to have to buy two of each character. I'm getting both mermaids and then I can focus on just one piece for each release.

Eh, I do my best to keep my hands out of multiple lines and companies. This affords me more dedication to what I like the most. Besides I love following a line and sticking with every release to make an ultimate display. Luckily enough with this line it's considerably cheap so being a completist shouldn't be too hard.

Thank God, we don't need variants. We need the line to be a success so they do more characters. We need them to use their time to work on new characters rather than wasting time trying to come up with variant ideas.

I'm personally not a fan of Tink having a Collector edition. I think it should just be the one edition with the metal art print.

The Little Mermaid variant was good because it provided an option further separated from Disney's Ariel. I'll admit Tinker Bell is a lot trickier to think of other colours for but not impossible. There's also the drawback of having the name Tinker Bell and not simply being The Little Fairy. It makes it harder to escape the idea of blond hair and green dress.

One viable option would've been to keep the blond hair but give her golden coloured leaves. There's even a glimpse of it on the art print.

I'm with him on my thoughts. Actually just looked at it again and thought to myself: "Self, the biggest change appears to be the direction she's looking. I know the eyes themselves are bigger but that takes a backseat to the direction as that's what my eyes see the most." So her face mostly just looks the same with her eyes looking in another direction.

Then I read his twitter response only to find out he said the same thing...

The eyebrow change, however, IMO does absolutely nothing to change the look of the piece.

I just don't get it. I'm the first to criticize SS on mistakes but it floors me with this piece. So much so that we need to reach out to JSC and let him know our nitpick?!!!

Its really nothing. Most people like Tink as is. Even the people that see the "bug eye" effect still like her ...even if SSC will not fix her eyes. And really its a minor nitpick.

That's what I'm hoping. I have no problem with people pointing out the bigger irises "help" her look but I'm wondering why it's still being pushed and discussed. Are we going to be talking about it 10 pages into the future?

Even with a slight "bug eye effect" we have to remember that she's a pixie fairy. So I think the slightly bigger whites of her eye fits. That's me going with the bug eye consensus.

In your pic ...only her left eye has a sliver of white under her iris. But you had to zoom in a lot to see that.

...and in this same pic there is a front view of her face showing the irises touching the top and bottom of her eyes ...I still argue that her irises touch her eyelids.
