Iron Studios has it's information on Thanos BDS on Facebook, someone asked about a 1/4 statue and Iron Studios response working on.

Is there any news on this? Im not a big movie statue collector, is Iron Studios only one that is/can make 1/4 statues? I saw infinity war and a want a nice looking thanos

Ya. I'm surprised, I don't seem to find a nice quality statue for this Avengers version thanos

With how much statues are these days more and more companies are going pick up less of these movie licenses. When I started collecting you could get a PF for around $200.00, now just a regular PF is high five hundreds. Movie statues don't sell that great to start with.

After watching the movie, I might be in for this Thanos. And I'm hoping they also make Thor and Doctor Strange.

Yeah, I think you nailed what the pose will be. I´m really excited for this SDCC, I think IS will show a lot of cool stuff, because they have been very quiet with announcements since Comic Con Experience last year.

I´m curious to see if they will show their Yoda piece too, and I think they will.

Meh.

Won't get it if its based on that artwork, as he never once showed that much anger in the film. He was almost always reserved until someone angered him, in which case he would show some anger but nowhere near the amount shown on that headsculpt.

As much as I want this, I'm leaning towards passing. If it was priced better I would probably fit it in, but between the new Thor/Venom bust/P1 Predator line.. I don't think this is going to make the cut.

Even though he is massive.. $1k for a 1/4 scale is a tough pill to swallow.

But in either case, go with what you really connect with, and will continue to in years to come.

Agreed. I have been interested in this peice and was planning on ordering but the price has surprised me enough to reconsider. I’m thinking I’ll likely pass now.

Yup space and money. Just moved to a new house and don’t have as much space as before. And my job now is a little bit lower-Paying so I need to be picky with pre orders from here on out.

On one hand Jurassic Park is iconic and one of my favorite movies ever, and the half of the diorama is insane. But then again thanos wasn’t portrayed to perfection in the movie and I don’t think we will ever see a better representation of him on screen.

Decisions, decisions...

Them fighting words.

But with limited space it'll probably be best for you to go with Jurassic Park, as that is a film which has stood the test of time. And while Infinity War is my favourite and most enjoyable MCU film, it's not the 'best' in the series imo, and only time will tell if people feel the same about it in the years to come.

Phoenixblazes
08-09-2018, 05:31 PM
This piece is fairly massive for a 1/4 scale piece in height (28.5") and for its sheer physical for the figure itself, and is being priced at what is Prime 1's standard for their 'basic' 1/3 scale pieces.

Though slightly smaller than those Arkham pieces, I don't think the price is too bad, once you add the usual mark ups that some movie and Iron Studio pieces seem to receive.

And come on, this is THANOS!

And still cheaper than Thanos on Throne, at its retail and especially it's aftermarket prices.

Phoenixblazes

Not to be argumentative or anything, but I'm of the opinion that many here had unrealistic expectations on what this would be priced at.

I mean the 1/4 MCU Falcon and Mark 46 were both I believe priced at $800 USD on Sideshows website. This pretty much created a ceiling at which Thanos was going to be priced at, because there was no way in hell that they were going to charge less than that.

And being that this is a bigger piece and I believe a more 'wanted' piece, odds were that it was going to be priced more...unfortunately.

So while $999.99 USD is on the relatively high side, no way should it be totally unexpected or surprising.

But maybe I'm biased as I really, really want that MCU Thanos, and I was certainly aware of their pricing after buying the bulk of their large scale MCU statues.

The more I look at this, the less I like it. I was in love upon first reveal but the honeymoon phase is over and I’ve really noticed some things about this that are not too great.

The base looks pretty bad. I don’t know if it’s lighting or what, but it looks pretty cheap almost. Paint is not too good. Thanos himself is also not very shaded either. It’s more or less one shade of pink throughout. There is some subtle shading but I think it could have been better. Also think the shield on the base is a weird add-on and very unnecessary, but on the flipside it is removable to can’t complain.

I think the sculpt on this is great. This is the same guy who did Doc Oc for XM, and I have that on PO. The sculpt is killer. But most of my issues lie in the paint department. I may still get this but I’ll have to think on it some more.

Phoenixblazes
08-10-2018, 12:43 AM
I think the paint looks good on both the skin and clothing. But given that this is only the prototype I'm not totally sure it matters one way or the other.

But regarding the base, I guess it's sufficient, but honestly it could've been better. But than again it could've also been worse i.e. the Civil War bases. Now those were bland and basic.

So I got in touch with IS, they told me that the 24 on SS site is a mistake. So it is in fact 28.5 inches tall.

Looks like Sideshow have 'fixed' the dimensions on their preorder pages for both Spidey and Thanos.

Now the question remains, why did they alter the original photo with the measurements?! As on the one hand it could've been a simple typo for both figures when entering the numbers on the main page; whereas with the photo that came with the dimensions, it would have to be manually edited and altered?

The base is fine sculpt-wise, but the paint finish gives it a cheap look. Also wish the gems on the black part of the base on the very bottom were painted their respective colors.

I didn't even notice the gems/stones :doh!:

But given that they're on the black part of the base I'm fine with them as they are.

So I just rewatched the movie again last night and I realized something, this statue is very pale, too pink. Thanos never looked that bright in the movie, even on Wakanda. He was still very clearly purple.

Just seen a couple pics of the portraits for this piece and it looks great. Anyone have anymore new pics of this piece. Think its shipping soon.

If you saw a recent video in Youtube taken during Shanghai Comic Con, SHCC2018 or smith around the 1:42 mark, each individual gem is painted with their respective colours..personally this statue looks great

I’ve seen collectors in Brazil receive their Iron Studios pieces many months ahead of those in the US etc.

So it could still be awhile.

It's from Hong Kong if I'm not mistaken. Here in Brazil we normally receive our pieces after the US, and we pay more too (which of course really sucks..).

Is that so. It’s just that I always see YouTube unboxing videos of the 1/10 scale pieces many months before they even reach Sideshow.

The more I look at the closed mouth version the more I think I’ll rarely use it.

Those videos might be preview videos from Piziitoys (which is owned by Renan Pizii too) or it might be that IS also sends some pieces in advance for some collectors/YouTube channels. But normally only after the US receives the pieces they become avaliable on their site over here.

I say "normally" because their 1/10 Thanos, for example, was realeased earlier here.

You could be right that they’re only advanced samples for reviewers etc. Because I usually see a handful of videos uploaded to YouTube on pieces months in advance.

I only received my 1/10 scale Thanos a couple of weeks ago from my local retailer. But lucky I read not to break the plastic sleeve with the batteries in the meantime, otherwise I would’ve had the same issues as many others.

That's the best set of teeth I think I've ever seen on a statue. It's probably got a lot of real life people beat too...lol

I have seen the endgame movie and... I can say that this Thanos version is much more iconic as character than the endgame one (an armor is not enough to make the character more interesting) ;)

Received this monster a few days ago and I am very happy with it. The base could've used a better paint job and the work on his closed non gauntlet fist is quite sloppy. The portraits though...OUTSTANDING!! I literally got chills when I turned on the spot lights and he was standing there in all his glory....LOL!!!

Wrong Thanos thread.

But I’m more interested in what’s not highlighted. That being the bare left arm!

Everyone still loving this Thanos? Definitely a piece I'm considering since I have no Thanos anything in my collection. I love the way this looks but have heard bad things about the quality of the base.

I still more or less love the piece.

But the sculpt and paint on the base is Iron Studios usual standard......which unfortunately means that it lacks details and the paint is bland. I have every single one of their 1/4 scale MCU pieces and only the bases on the AOU pair were any good.

And even though I ordered all the 1/4 Endgame pieces and most of the 1/10 scale line, I’m expecting the same when it comes to the bases.

Ah, so it's something Iron Studios is known for. I currently don't have any of their pieces, have their Iron Spider, Captain America, and a few of their 1/10 Endgame pieces on pre-order, but haven't actually seen any in person yet.

Think my biggest thing is can I get over the base if it's really that bad. Normally I think I could, but with the price tag on this piece, I keep going back and forth on it.

Hey, would any one here who bought this piece mind sending or posting pictures here of his gauntlet, specifically around where his thumb bends similar to the pictures I attached?

Just looking to get this repaired and looking for some reference pictures of it undamaged since I lost part of the broken piece.

Thanks in advance.
