I decided to create this thread since BLIZZARD isn't really interested in News articles or even mentioning when something will be on sale.

I figure since January's Limited Art piece of Jaina went up on the website sometime after 11am PST on January 11th, whoever sees the next piece up can post on here. Then if anyone wants they can set up a thread subscription to be notified on any new post.

I was going through my pics of blizzcon and they have an art section there, there wasn't to many of warcraft but they did have Jaina there, that was now the first month print. Wonder if Anduin might be another month? I dont have other pictures of art on the wall nor do I think there were that many.

There's a lot going on this print. I wish they would have kept it simpler; something like the card art would have been better imho. A little disappointed since Dr. 7 was the the first legendary I crafted when I started playing the game, so it would be cool to commemorate that.

The thing is, I don't really know what I'm looking at here. There's all of these drills and lasers, and yet the boom bots are relegated to the background barely visible. They are the most important part, they should be front and center.

I had to really look at it to tell what's going on. Looks like to me his clone is running away with a remote and he's got his robot crafts arms stretched out trying to grab him? Either way it's a lot nicer and interesting than the Jaina one, but obviously not anywhere close to as iconic of a character. I wish it was more clear what was going on, but the colours really make it, I got it as I'm going to try to collect all.

They didn't. I was able to buy two with zero issues. If there were I would have just bought the second under my wife's info. The only reason I even knew about Jaina was due to MechWestern's post and jumped immediately. Just a poorly thought out rollout.

Looking back at the Jaina it's also really not that great. It's popular and sought after though but the art itself is pretty simplistic. I hope future releases come out looking more like OG Blizz art and not this newer style. I think we're all after that older style of Warcraft art that we all fell in love with years ago. But maybe Im just talking for myself.

Saw this blizzcon art and really hope Blizzard can make this DWARF statue soon, that would be pretty unique.

Last minute cancel, multiple purchases or returns you will see it available again. But after a week or so they will be gone...

I think Blizzard is just dead. They could make so many cool products that focus on our nostalgia like this print line was supposed to be. But instead they used it, from the beginning, as advertisement for whatever their current game is under the guise of "classic iconic imagery".

arthas on throne comes in two versions, smaller and bigger and is the bigger 120cm wide, so pretty big if you ask me. Most of them are classics that everybody knows. They are officially licensed by blizzard, edition size is about 100-200 depending on the piece, unless they are oversized like arthas (edition of 25 for the large print, probably 17 left now @$300 a piece) They go up for sale tomorrow. Also, you can pick your number, comes with a separate certificate.

It came in a tube. Poster was rolled up with acid paper between the print and the print was in a plastic wrap so it would slide out easy and not get pinched when it was removed. The tube was larger then the print so tissue paper could be placed at both ends. This was about 2-3 years ago, I have no idea what they do now. Keep in mind a lot of their prints are on poster material. If these Blizz prints are thicker like Jaina they'd have to use flat cardboard. I will contact and inquire and get back here when I have an answer. Here is what's on their site.

I was aware of Cook & Becker before this but had no idea about this Blizzard drop. C&B doesn't usually pop up on the popular art news sites. Their video game prints are usually focused on concept art and are more expensive than others in this hobby. However, this drop is certainly bringing them a lot more attention.

I don't think anything has sold out yet. What is there now is what was available earlier today. I think the biggest print option is the Lich King at 22x47.

Their site will grey out an option if it sells out and will say "sold out" in red.

Ah I get it now. Ok, I see ranges though like $120.00 - $1,405.00 and only see 1 or 2 sizes but that range includes the framing options.

All unframed prints are shipped in tubes. They are protected with sheets and filling, and the caps are stapled to the tube with industrial staples.

It is completely understandable that there is a need for information, especially when past experiences haven't been quite as good as people would have liked, of course.
It's important to us to be very transparent and clear about the process and quality of all our art. And, of course, with any shipping damage that may occur with the shipping of all our artworks, we stand guarantee and will arrange for replacements if needed :)

Hi Dan,

Just read the thread, and thought I'd add to my last e-mail to perhaps answer some questions.

The epoxy on our artworks does of course not crack after time passes. We offer a lifelong guarantee on our Dibond + Diasec and Acrylic Glass artworks to the original buyer. This is for discoloring, hanging, but, of course, also if the epoxy would crack over time (I noticed I said Dibond + Diasec on Dibond in my last e-mail by mistake, by the way).

What may be also nice to know is that any art bought on our website can be returned within 4 weeks if the person is not satisfied with the quality (which has thankfully never happened).

Concerning our own limited edition runs: Cook and Becker indeed has the official license from Blizzard, and our own editions are unique. This means we offer people certified art giclees of museum-grade, archival quality. The measurements of prints and edition sizes are determined together with Blizzard. It sometimes happens that the same illustration is also used and sold by a different company in poster-form, or, as I read, as an exclusive auction piece. Those works of course differ from the art giclees we offer, since they will have a different size and quality.

As for the promotion from Blizzard: it's incoming :) We're currently working on it together with them.

Would you be able to shed some light on how/why you guys got the license for these specific prints? Since the start of the year Blizzard was promoting their own fine art program labeling it as images that were classic and iconic. They instead chose to sell artwork based on their new and current products. Your line on the other hand is exactly what you'd expect when you read the words classic and iconic, at least for WoW.

Were these images your idea, their idea, do you guys choose the artwork?

Sure, I can talk a bit about how the coop with Blizzard came to be. We approached Blizzard because we were interested in their art (of course :)). Specifically the franchises Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo. These series have the most heritage and therefore fit our own focus best, and that of most of our customers and fellow collectors most of which are 30+. Plus, both my brother and I are fans of these series so we love to work on these.

Blizzard up until then did all their art prints inhouse (I'm not entirely sure, but I believe that was the case and still is), but out of all the 2nd party printing houses/art companies that vied for their art licenses we came out on top in terms of the quality of our reproductions and that is how we got the rights. We're a small company but Blizzard foremost cared about the quality of the product, which was nice. Maybe our tenacity in pursuing this for several years also helped haha.

How the art selection goes (with every studio). We ask for as big an art selection as possible. The roughs, the drafts, the key pieces etc. We go through everything we get and narrow down a selection for approval by the studio. They veto certain works, suggest some of their own and this is a back and forth until we end up with as great a selection as possible. The best collections I think are when studio's also let us share the rough sketches, the early drafts etc. and not only the polished finished pieces. Sure, these won't always sell (we did 31 images for The Witcher for example many of which we knew won't sell) but we are OK with having non-commercials works in a collection if it helps show the context of an entire body of work. Which fits the mission of our gallery.

Interesting that you mentioned the Witcher. I was looking over those and would love a Witcher print but didn't find any that have Geralt as the center piece. The available Geralt and Yen is a fantastic image, but Geralts in the back. Are there any plans to release more in that series or is it more once a collection is released you guys don't go back to release more.

The paper is a 100% cotton rag, Radiant White 270 gsm. It has a fine paper texture. It is comparative to a Hahnemuhle PhotoRag (https://www.hahnemuehle.com/en/digital-fineart/fineart-media/matt-fineart-smooth/p/Product/show/8/1.html) but a better version (we think)

If it's up to us, yes! Program with Blizzard will run for a couple of years. I expect an update to the Warcraft collection early next year maybe? We'll try and target something for Diablo and/or StarCraft this calendar year still.

Yes, the artist is Wei Wang (its in the description underneath the artwork).

Sizes are listed in the order form next to (if you're on desktop) or below (if you're on mobile) the artwork.

Size-wise the large one is 10 cm / 4 inch wider than an A0 due to 2 inch wide space on all sides. The smaller one is slightly smaller than A1.

We won't do a huge amount of prints per brand. Also, Cook and Becker never does reprints and no variants unless announced right away at launch of the collection. So for example for the current Lich King, this is it (2 sizes, total of 225 prints) in terms of editions and quantity.

Large Arthras is down to the final 3 now by the way. Don't worry, will be my last service announcement on this haha, but wanted to mention it in light of the above and the piece being quite popular :)

Websites great. Only thing a friend and I found weird was how you guys state the print sizes. I think for me personally I'd rather know the total size of a unframed print including the white border, not the image size. This is because I buy frames and would rather know the entire size to know which size frame is needed.

I read a comment that said last time they had a sdcc ex print it was basically sold out on exhibitors preview night and when the general public got in line they had so few left they had to raffle them to make it "fair" even the first person in line couldn't just buy one.

That rag print looks amazing love the arcane mage in it. Also that 15th anniversary pin looks good to just with that was a badge or prop to display it.

I'm right there with you and did the same. The prices are just going to go up as time passes. Hard not to pass up. It's a great reminder of all my good times in Vanilla and Cata.

I don't think we have to worry about that. It seems blizz will be doing original art print specific while cook will be doing various art work that has been floating around for a while

Got one at Comic Con today, was so surprised they actually had them as they sold out early the last 2 days. Turns out they allocate some to each day. Finally, a print worthy of the word "classic".

Why print turds tho? They know what looks good and will sell. Take the edition size of one or two of those unwanted prints and add it to the ones people actually want. Fans are happy and so is Blizzard's pocket.

Turns out Horley has a booth (does art for WoW, Hearthstone, Diablo) and picked up this 1/1 print, its nuts.

The Rag one? Should be the same, only 1 comic con print was released.

You're gonna love the rag print, it's ridiculously nice and knowing its a comic con exclusive gives a special feel to it.

EDIT. Wait you mean the Horley print? If you have it too that's awesome where did you get it? Maybe the 1/1 is in regards to the size of it then.

Must be the size. The one blizzard sold through blizz gear and has a 500 es. Sorry for the cheap frame with reflection kinda hard to see :(

Yeah I assume it's the size and print itself, he was saying Blizz restricts what/how many he can print or something along those lines.

Now the real cool stuff he was selling were some of his original paintings. There was a Deathwing vs Gruul one with an asking price of $4500. Now those are some real Warcraft art grails.
