View Full Version : Kabuki AP Bust info please?
Howdy folks!
Would anybody know where I may get one of the Kabuki AP Busts?
This one:

I can find the regular edition, but not the AP of course. :banghead:
Thanks for any info!

I ordered one of these through my lcs way back when, but it never arrived. I assumed it was never released but have no real evidence to back that up.

These show up every so often on the bay, just have to keep your eyes peeled..
Average can be anywhere from 75-100 for this one..
I am on the fence about keeping my Kabuki busts, have all that were released.

Thanks for the info - I'll keep my eyes peeled.
I went through the sold items in all the way back to May, and I didn't find
an AP version though - only the regular version. I reeeeeaaally like the AP
and I also like the set of Twin Busts. They look nice as well.
I also like the Snapdragon bust, but I don't think it is my best interest to
have nude females with X's over their nips on display at this juncture.
(I really would love to, but the wife may have somethin' to say about it)

It definitely exists. They only made 300, and it was a Previews Exclusive. Original retail was $75, and those are real diamond chips on her cheek and forehead.
What is with her missing pinky finger? Anybody read the comic/story to know?

i just picked up the regular version and noticed that too. i don't know much about the character but the sculpt is absolutely excellent! the paint application is superb too! perfectly done. clayburn is a master! i can't wait for the upcoming kabuki statue! :buttrock:
Yep - I have an AP now in my collection, and sold the second to pay for it.
I'm going to get a regular version at some point as well, as they'll look great together.
The regular version can be gotten pretty inexpensively which is nice.

wow...I only want the AP edition. The regular one is nice, but doesn't compare to the AP. It sure would look nice sitting next to the new Kabuki statue coming out soon! (hurry up and ship it!) :)

I'll try to post pics of them together as soon as my statue arrives :)

My understanding is that these have arrived in the states and you should start seeing them in the next few weeks.

SPOILERS AHOY!
As far as the missing finger goes, she had "failed" a mission and was brought before the commitee that runs her crew. She was given a pair of wire cutters and it was supposed to be that she would take off her own finger, yakuza-style, in punishment. But instead, to freak them out, she put a tourniquet around it and bit it off. Then the ate her own finger and spit the remaining bone across the table at them. Of course, as they watched the finger bone roll across the table, she stole a pair of guns from the guards and went to work.
David Mack is great. Met his at Wizard World Texas and he's one of the nicest guys I've ever met in the industry. He did a sketch for my comic shop and one for my girlfriend. My friend was there and wanted a Snapdragon bust, but the only one he had left got damaged on the way over and the arms were broken off. He sold it to my friend for super cheap and signed the broken arm and every side of the box for it.

JS you've become obsessed with Clay Moores work lately.;)
Yes I have Bullseye. He is my favorite sculptor at this point.
Not intentionally, but his works just seem to catch my eye the most lately.

have you got the Emma Frost Retro and Black Cat sculpts. Both awesome. You should also check out Tim Bruckners work.
I haven't heard of either of those before, as I'm green on some things, but
I've got the Hughes/Bruckner Wonder Woman Statue, and I love that statue.
The Moore Godzilla was actually sculpted by Sugita, and not Moore, but it still was
distributed by his company I guess. Either way, yep, I love the dragons and the
beautiful lady statues and busts at this point.

Moore sculpted 2 versions of Emma Frost (Modern & Retro) and 2 versions of Black Cat (Modern & Retro) for Diamond Select during the downtime between his original and new companies.
During the same period, he also sculpted 2 versions of Spider-Man (Red/Blue and Black costumes) for DST, as well as a Mary Jane Watson bust & a Wolverine-in-the-sewer diorama statue for Dynamic Forces.

i was only going to bid up to $100. i was shocked when i won it for only $51! i finally got one. :)
I paid about $100 for mine. Oh well. I'm happy with it.
$50 is really good, especially considering that suggested retail was $75.

Just a bit of random curiousity...
Has anyone ever taken their AP to a jeweler to access the value of the diamond chips mounted in it, compared with the market value of the bust? :inquisiti

won an AP on ebay for $51! :buttrock:
I was going to bid on it, but I found an X-Box 360 system in stock one hour before the bust went off. I was only going to bid $65 since I already own two the AP busts and they only costed me $40 a piece. I got mine from a statue shop online that was going out of business.
