Anyone read this book? The movie looks really interesting, love the music with the preview. I was curious if the book was good, not that it makes the movie good, but war movies translate better from book usually.

I think it has a lot of potential, and I am not a gyllenhaul (sp?) fan

I'm a fan of war flicks, but mainly old war flicks like WW2 Vietnam stuff, A Bridge to Far, Saving Private Ryan, Enemy at the Gates, Bridge Over River Kwai, Platoon, Tigerland, U571 etc. Never was a big fan of stuff like Pearl Harbor or anything to do with Pearl Harbor. Windtalkers was so so. Same with desert storm stuff, like Black Hawk down. It's a good movie just don't find it too interesting. But this, it's just more then war which I like. And I'm a fan of Gyllenhall.

Ghost, have you watched Band of Brothers?

It is maybe the best thing I have seen on tv or dvd in a couple years, it is amazing. And spielberg/hanks are supposed to be doing one on the pacific theatre soon.

or Platoon tet. Or platoon.

My personal favorite "War" movie is Three Kings, but war is only the backdrop really...

Sammy, Ghost did mention Platoon but no one has brought up Apocalypse Now. One of the greastest films ever.

actually it is band of brothers which is a series and not a movie. Otherwise I really enjoyed saving private ryan.

I had a friend who is the narrator voice in a thin red line, but I hate that movie. I like good morning vietnam, but it isn't really a war movie either, just a backdrop.
