I have a bunch of cold cast statues from X-Plus (Godzilla and Ray Harryhausen stuff). Plus a bunch of vinyl statues of Ultraman from the Bandai Kyomoto Collection (these are about 16 inches tall) and a bunch of Marmit Super Robots series (these are 16 to 20 inches tall). Here's a couple pics of my toy room:

My son would love to be alone in your room for about a day :thumbs2:
Everything there would get played with ,

Danno
10-10-2004, 01:33 PM
LOL! Thanks guys. My kids love the room too (especially the old Baron Karza, but those fists can be tough to find after a while, LOL)! I guess I've been buying Japanese toys and statues off and on for about 10 years or so. I have not bought anything new (as far as a toy goes) for about a year... year and a half-ish. When the X-Plus Godzillas started to invade the living room and bedroom....the wife put the 'ol KAY-BOSH on it until I figure out my space better. LOL! But she's pretty tolerant of my obsessions, I am truly blessed with a good woman!

So... what does your family think about all those robots?

Danno
10-11-2004, 08:37 AM
Hey DD,

Well, my kids love'em, LOL! They think all this stuff is pretty neat...everything from Godzilla to Ultraman to the Super Robots to superheroes (statues and garage kits). My wife likes the robots the best. She can appreciate other things....and she likes superheroes....but she like the robots the best. She told me that if she ever leaves me...she's taking Mazinger Z with her....any Mazinger I have is hers now. LOL!

Impressive,Danno!!!The Soul of Chogokin are awesome models;) Info:the GX 07 Mazinger Z is based on the design of the OVA of "Mazinkaiser",but it is also the TRUE Mazinger Z deigned by Go Nagai in the original manga!!!White Hover Pilder (not red as in the anime),red lines around the eyes (very demonic!!!) and he can't fly because he hasn't the jet scrander. The Getter G line is great!!!I suggest it,Danno;)Poseidon is too cool!!!However,I'd like a lot to have a collection like yours :)

10-11-2004, 06:53 PM
Hi CroqueD,it's a pleasure share images with you all of this forum:)
Maybe Voltes V will be the next big SOC ( not the next one after Garada and Doublas, but the next BIG one after Zambot) ;)

Danno
10-12-2004, 08:49 AM
Hey Dr. D,

I really have to get the Getter G set.....I've been SO busy painting for the last year that I've just lost track, LOL! Anyways, thanks for the high recomendation....now I MUST have them. :)

It would be awesome to see Voltes V as the next combiner type SOC!

Hey CrogueD,

LOL! I do have some GoShogun, but not the grail Takatoku piece. One day....one day I tell ya. :)

I also have some Voltes V, but again...not the grail Popy/Godaikin version. Whew, that baby goes for some serious coin....someday. LOL!

I have a few Yamato Macross pieces, but that's about it. I always like the anime, but the Super Robots were my real love....so that's where a bunch of my money went.

The large Mazingers I have are Marmit, but not the Daigokin. I was happy with the Vinyl statues.....they look really nice and pretty good painting on them to boot. :)

LOL! As for the Statue collection........yeesh, they are all over the place. In the living room, the paint studio, bedroom, dining room....thank gosh my mife is so understanding.

Dano, thanks for posting the pics of SOC. It brought back alot of great memories of me watching those cartoons as a kid. :thumbs2:

I doodled this pic a few years back just for the hell of it and I ended up selling it to a friend. It's no biggy, just my attempt at drawing exaggerated limbs on a character. :D

Where do I go about getting these anime/Japanese statues?
I am looking for a character from each of the animes I like such as Trigun(preferably Vash), Outlawstar(Gene Starwind), Cowboy Bebop(Spike), Vampire Hunter D, Inuyasha. Thanks!

How big is 1/8th scale?

I moved up from the mere collecting of Japanese Statues to the collecting of actual Japanese people. They take about the same space to display but are much more productive. I bought a pair and in 3 years I had the whole set. I am now working on my Cantonese set with one of every Wong variation, about 4.7 billion. Storage space is a problem but with all the Governement incentives, such as Section 8 and Food Stamps, this has turned out to be a very cost effective, nay, a very profitable hobby.

I have the VHD mini busts. :buttrock: Vampire Hunter D, Leila, & Meier Link. The Meier Link bust is one of my all time favorites...of ANY company. Also got the Ninja Gaiden vinyl statue.

I got one of all of them (MB and statues). A simple google search on each of the names w/ statue/minibust in the keywords should yield quite a few hits. Vash and Spike MB's are fairly easy to come by (and cheap too). The Faye Valentine statue holds it's value and is probably gonna be more expensive if you find her. Any of the VH-D MB's are tough to find and pricey when you find 'em. However, I've seen a few go for reasonable price on eBay.
