Hey everyone,
I have been away from the boards for awhile, but Clay asked me to show these to everyone. Paul Moore is the painter.

Looks great (and alluring) but a number of Moore female statues are becoming interchagable from the neck down...

That is absolutely stunning!
I may end up buying one of those, but it'd be a stretch, due to the nudity.
(not that I mind, but the significant other would take exception)

When is it available, where, how much, and how many are gonna be made?

Savage Dragon is the Hulk with a fin. She-Dragon, while an amazing sculpt, just holds zero interest for me.

Here are some pics of the Mohawk version. No word yet on what the ratio will be.

Savage Dragon is SO much more than the HUlk with a fin! Its one of the best comics going today! Any Fin-Addict will love this statue, and anyone that likes Clay's work will love it too!

Yeah sorry I should have mentioned that the Mohawk version will be the A.P. and will be produced shortly afterward. Also the mohawk has been changed from the one in the pics. It is a bit thicker now.

This is definitely the better looking of the 2 versions.

However, certain a$$-pects of this sculpt lend themselves to displaying and viewing the matching pair of statues in "stereo".

He was supposed to do one for DST following the Black Cat and Emma Frost, but then their contract period ended and he opened his own independent studio again instead of extending.

Maybe someone could photoshop dark green hair and one of She-Hulk's costumes onto Dragon-babe so we can get a look at what could have been.

To get a G Rating he would have to make some changes to make it more .............!

You guys can put what ever word you think best fits.

I would order 5 Kabuki's before I order 1 She-Dragon.
Get Eric Larson to design a outfit with her holding a space weapon or something and you have a best seller.

Otherwise I for one and other retailers will not be ordering these pieces.

The sculpt is great Mr.Moore but you can do better than that come on!

so the nudity offends you, or as a retailer you dont think there is a market for this?

This is a pin-up statue believe it or not.
You don't see a statue of Roque wearing a bikini or Gamit wearing a thong right?

Why? Because that's not how we see these heros.
Their colorful costumes and their superpowers is what we love about them.

Making the Savage She-Dragon look like a high class call girl I'm sure Eric Larson is not to crazy about.

As for a market for this oh sure there's a market for it,it's a statue that is sure to be displayed away from the rest.

Change it or trash it.

Of course you are welcome to your opinion. I just wanted to point out that, like any licensed property, Erik Larsen had final approval of anything that was done based on his work.

For confirmation you can even check his post 2/3 of the way down this page.

I think this a beautiful and very sexy rendition of the character. Yeah, she's scantily dressed, but I guess that's a matter of artistic interpretation. The thing about art is that people can agree to disagree. If the nudity is offensive to some, no big deal: just don't buy the piece. I certainly respect your opionion, WW. But as for me, I'd buy this in a New York minute.

This is a good and valid question.

Is your objection based on some personal hangup, or do you genuinely believe that you as a retailer would be unable to sell this piece? :inquisiti

12-18-2005, 09:18 AM
Any Savage Dragon reader could confirm the piece as being a good representation of the She Dragon's character. Even the creator thinks its a good piece!

If this were a Wonder Woman statue that was almost nude, I would agree with you, but this character is being made for a specific, and targeted audience. The fact that Moore is making it, opens the window to another specific audience, that might now know She Dragon at all, but supports Clay's work.

Outside of Clay, or Dragon fans...there is a VERY limited consumer group that would be interested in this character being sculpted whether she was in a turtle neck, or skinny dipping! I think this piece will be be a sold out piece based on the run size being targeted towards Clay and Dragon fans. This isnt meant to be on display in a storefront next to a Spiderman and Batman statue.

All excellent points. Context and target audience are indeed key.

As I've noted on other threads, I have many statues and busts of characters whose stories I've never read, just because I really like the piece.

demonhunter

For me, I never cared about the characters. I go backwards. Usually, it's because of the statue, I buy it first because of its beauty or awesomeness, and then, I go backwards and start looking up or reading about the character. Like the Spawn action figures, I never cared or read a single issue of Spawn, but then, I got the toys and later I went to do some reading on Spawn.

Yeah, I think I definitely will read up on it. I did catch some of the animated Savage Dragon cartoon a few years back and Savage Dragon had an appearance in one of the early Spawn issues. He died and went to hell.
