It's a part of ebay, It's never going to stop as some people will always try to milk as much money out of people when they know they can get away with it, It sucks but thats just the way it is

I knew two guys who did that-- both were LCS dealers.
They were even proud of it enough to boast about it out loud.

What a lame asssss... Smartwax and someone else bids on all of his items. This guy is stupid, doesn't take inspector gadget to figure out what went on here.

The sad part is that ebay rarely does anything about these instances. I gave them an iron clad case a few months ago and they did nothing. Sellers bring in money to ebay and higher prices make ebay even more money...ebay actually has a stake in this to some degree.

My case was airtight enough to my credit card company so I paid nothing...but it still suxs to these guys continue this practice.

I bougth a tpb off a guy here in Kc that would not let me pick up in person even tho he was only 30min away.....During the bidding process he sent me his info when I asked a question. I noticed after bidding was over that I was outbid and then the bid was retracted. The bidder/retracter's ID was the sellers' LAST NAME!!! The reply I got from the seller was, oh that was my brother, he didn't know he couldn't bid on my auctions, but you still have to pay the bumped up price........I told the guy to get lost and e-mailed all the other winning bidder what when down. He was later kicked off eBay...............ON a side note, I became very uncomfortable when he told me he was the online sales manager for a Borders in Kansas City. When I called the store he said he worked at, no one there knew who he was...............my only negative feedback is from this ass clown..........

While I don't condone shill bidding in the least, it seems pathetic that he is doing it to make a couple dollars here and there.

Sadly though, the comic hobby is populated by many individuals who are nothing but greedy SOBs out ot make an extra dollar or two.

My biggest such story happened at The National Comic Con in NY about 5 years ago. I was looking for some recent Batman back issues (perhaps it was No Man's Land) in the .50 cent boxes. A dealer heard me ask another dealer for them and darted around the corner (at least that was how it seemed). When I turned the corner, he was pulling the books out of his 50 cent box and placing them in a dollar box. I looked him dead in the eyes, laughed and walked away.

To this day, I refuse to buy anything from this dealer. And, in fact, at a later show my friend was getting ready to pay for about 20 trades (worth about $400) from this dealer. When I saw it, I went up to my friend and said this is the guy I told you about. He set the books down and said, sorry no longer interested and we walked away.

Sometimes what goes around comes around.
