View Full Version : Acrylic Risers for MB's

I would like to raise the old MB's base to the level of the new ones - I suspect that the difference it about 1 1/2" - or does someone have a better estimate?

In addition, where do I get these risers? I trust acrylic is the most neutral. This might also be a business opportunity for Danny, as I personally would like to have all busts on a comparable height.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I like the cubes - but they seem to be much too high and possibly too wide as well. I would also prefer round to square to better complement Randy's base. I found this so far:

Here is another resource that I found recently that has a wider variety of heights and widths.

http://www.nicetoys.com/displaystandsmatrix.html

But let me save you some time, there isn't any company out there that produces risers (at least until Bowen desides to do it) that will make the entire collection uniform in height ... trust me, I tried for weeks before I gave up the ghost and bought risers of different heights and widths ... which if you ask me, gives a much nicer effect than uniform ones:

I agree - I was afraid you would say that.

Would it be possible for you to post the most popular risers that you used? And, maybe a bid demanding, a list of the specific riser/bust combinations? I could imagine that a lot of people have value for that as this topic comes up quite regularly.

As posted before, I assume 1 1/2" is a popular height and 2" a good diameter; as a rule. What is your experience?

I've used 3X3X3, 3x3X4, 3X3X6 and 5X5X7 risers depending on the effect that I wanted to get ... 2 inch diameter risers won't work on pieces with larger bases like Giantman, Goliath, Apocolypse, Hulk and Thor ... 3 inch is the minimum I would personally use.

If you look at the picture of the founding members of the Avengers on post # 4, that one uses 2 3X3X3 (Hulk & Thor) and a 3X3X6 (Giant-Man/Wasp)

In the second picture the 2 Spidermans are on 3X3X3's and the Spider-Woman is on 3X3X4.

Always thought the Spidey base (12000 version) looked a lot like the Sasquach ltd base... LOL

There was one guy on the forum that had these long boards of acrylic. They fit nice to make a back tier on a shelf. I liked those but have never been able to find a local retailer or website that has them.

it's funny, the other day i found a wine glass, well more like conac glass, and it was wide enough and tall enough so i tryed it and it don't look bad at all, imo, mi wife said that she likes it, the shape of the glass is nice and it's not a square shaped thingie, her words exacally, don't get me wrong the cubes look good, but i'm going with these.

I bought some of these a couple of weeks ago, great price, 6-3x3x3 for $9.99. :buttrock:

Just ordered more 6-4x4x4 and 6-6x6x6.

I think I would like to distinguish: Some of us use risers to achieve a certain display effect (see post #4), others (like me) try to neutralize Randy's decision to change the height in the base of the bust. I would think that with one or two of these acrylic round risers you should be able to achieve the effect that I am looking for.

What I do not want: Black Panther (new bust) looking down on Moon Knight (old bust) because of the age of the sculpt.

I took a look at that site but could not find what I was looking for.

It is a simple acrylic board. Picture a standard 2x4 but a shorter.

FYI, it wasn't "Randy's decision", it was Marvel's, they were the ones that specified the height specifications for the pieces.

I hope your search proves more fruitful than mine did.

Hey Jesse...I checked the site and I can only find the "3x3x3" risers.
I can't find "3x3x6" anywhere, and the closest I can find to "3x3x4" is "3x3x4 1/2".

I just wondering if I'm looking in the wrong place, or if you had to special request those sizes.

Let me know...I really like the look of your display.

Maybe I'm losing it :confused2

A lot pricier option is to go to Tap Plastics and have them custom made. If you only need a couple this might be a possible alternative...

If this is old news, I missed it. I was surfing the inventory on Danny's site and noticed that he's selling acrylic risers with the "Statue Forum" and "Comic Statues" logos on them. Cool! How long have these been available?

just started selling them to see how they'd do. they're actually doing pretty well. i got different sizes made just to test them out. right now, i'm only promoting the 3x3x3 since that's the most common size. i do use 2x2x2, 4x4x4, 8x8x8 & 10x10x10 in my office but i figured that my space and layout is different then a single office / home. we'll see what gets requested.

er, this may be a silly question... but do they all have the statueforum logo on it?

DANNY, can you custom order some to say any message you want them too?

THAT would be a cool feature!

I agree, Jesse. Your collection looks much better that way. Much more so than just busts in front of other busts on one shelf. This way you can see em better.

And also, I'd like to place my order for a riser immediately, with "I lost my virginity at STATUEFORUM.COM!" engraved on it. It would be cool.

If you have a Container store near by, they carry baseball cubes and hockey puck acrylic diplays. These are the best I've seen because they are seemless and very nice looking. Besides being very nice looking they are well priced @ $1.49 to $2.99.
I like Drod's idea with the engraved risers. It would be cool to have the name of the character you have on the riser engraved on the base.
