DC ANNOUNCES TEN MORE GUESTS FOR NY COMIC CON
Press Relese
DC Comics, the largest English language publisher of comic books worldwide and the home of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman, announced today that ten renowned creators will join the growing roster of celebrities and comic book creators slated to appear at the upcoming New York Comic-Con. The artists and writers added to the show are:
Brian Azzarello—The writer of Vertigo’s award-winning series 100 BULLETS and the new spaghetti western-noir series LOVELESS.
Keith Giffen—The layout artist of DC Comics’ highly anticipated forthcoming weekly mini-series 52.
Dean Haspiel—The acclaimed artist of Harvey Pekar’s THE QUITTER graphic novel and a collaborator on Vertigo’s upcoming AMERICAN SPLENDOR series.
Phil Jimenez—The bestselling artist of DC’s INFINITE CRISIS blockbuster mini-series.
J.G. Jones—The cover artist and renowned painter of DC Comics’ highly anticipated forthcoming mini-series 52.
Adam Kubert—The superstar artist of an as-yet unannounced DC title.
Andy Kubert—The superstar artist of an as-yet unannounced DC title.
Douglas Rushkoff—The media critic and writer of the new Vertigo series TESTAMENT.
Brian K. Vaughan—The critically lauded writer of Vertigo’s Y THE LAST MAN series, WildStorm’s EX MACHINA series (which was recently named one of Entertainment Weekly’s Best Books of the Year) and the much anticipated Vertigo graphic novel PRIDE OF BAGHDAD.
Brian Wood—The writer of the provocative Vertigo series DMZ.
Today’s announcements come on the heels of the publisher’s previously announced appearances by bestselling DC Comics and WildStorm comic book illustrator Jim Lee and the New York Times bestselling murder mystery writer Brad Meltzer as Guests of Honor at the convention. New York Comic-Con is a new trade and consumer event for comics, games, anime and other related industries and will take place at the Jacob K. Javits Center in Manhattan, February 24th – 26th.
“Our aim is to help the inaugural New York Comic-Con live up to the rich history of New York comic book conventions from the heyday of the ‘60’s and ‘70’s,” said DC Comics President & Publisher Paul Levitz. “We’ve assembled an array of talented people to attend the convention that reflect the creative diversity and richness of DC Comics in 2006.”
“I am delighted that DC Comics is providing so much talent at our event,” notes Greg Topalian, Group Vice President in charge of Launch Pad for Reed Exhibitions. “While there will be a lot to see and do at New York Comic-Con, one of the major attractions is the chance for fans to meet their favorite artists and illustrators. This is a formidable list of talent by any standard of measurement,” concludes Topalian. “We will do everything we can to make New York Comic-Con a satisfying experience for them. Fans attending the convention will have the opportunity to get an early look at high profile projects—and perhaps to hear exclusive announcements”
Convention officials note that tickets for New York Comic-Con are now on sale on the Web site at www.nycomiccon.com

Well I went to the show and felt that it was wack, with the exception of a DC Direct Green Lantern Vs statue which I picked up for only $20. The only problem with the statue is a small hairline break on Green Lantern's wrist. Its an easy fix.
I noticed other great deals of newly released Bowen busts way below retail.
Besides that, my girl managed to pick-up two nice sketches from David Finch of The Sentry.

I gotta say this ........... the Big Apple Con last weekend ....... "SUCKED".
Not much the rain but a lot of dealers didn't show for the reason of it being a one day show. Most vendors didn't want to take the risk. Plus ..... my buddy whose normally a dealer at these shows ......... his price for his table spot jumped $50.00 !
