Since Jessica started out as a blonde would you buy a S-W blonde variant or just get a paintmaster to repaint her? :)

I'd get Danno to repaint her.

Jessica was a brunette not a blonde and her costume never showed her hair while she was brunette.

I'm wracking my brain... I have no memory of a blond Spiderwoman...
Is there a pic of her in costume somewhere?

Check out S-W 1 she was Bloned i tell you;) She started out wearing the full mask but this was ripped off her head on page 6. On page 23 she dyes her hair black.

It was colored BROWN !!

You might be thinking of Julia Carpenter that was a strawberry blonde .. sort of.

Let's say for the sake of argument, she was a blonde... What the heck was that all about? Why make her blonde for only one panel on page 6? Could this be a coloring error?

rychehitman
12-19-2005, 05:46 PM
or an Ale/blood mixture mishap?

Maybe i have a bad copy but it certainly looks yellowish. Plus she must have had extensions too. Her hair was shoulder lenght on page 16 but was down to her ass on page 23.:)

She was originally blonde. The new Origin series shows her as a child and she's blonde in it as well. Check out the marvel database for her stats (at the bottom: strawberry blonde, dyed jet black).

Despite what it says there, I just went through the first 10 issues of the series and I can't find anywhere where her hair was colored in anything but brown (or black) ... to me that's not blonde, light blonde, or strawberry blonde, that's brunette. Blondes have always been depicted as yellow (like Sue Storm and Mockingbird), redheads have always been depicted as red (like Jean Grey and Mary Jane Watson) and strawberry blondes have always been orange (like Thundra and Julia Carpenter)

In any event, when she had her original hair color (whatever color you consider that to be), she was working for Hydra and had a full hooded mask, so it never showed, so the point of a "blonde variant" would be moot.

Now a full hooded variant, I could see an argument for that, but I don't think it would look anywhere near as good.

PS ... I just looked at the Giant Size Spider-Woman # 1 and on pages 16, 17, 25, 33, 34, 35, 36 and 37 (35, 36 and 37 as a child) she is clearly depicted as a brunette. It isn't until page 39, 40, 41 and 42 where her hair mysteriously lightens to a shade more resembleing her mother's hair color (which is considerably much lighter than Jessica's and arguably a blonde of some sort)

4,000 posts!

I used to have some Spider Woman books but never anything old enough to have her in the original outfit.

Some pics of the net but nothing great.

I bow to the superiority of the forum Spider Woman experts. :)

I always thought Jessica just had jet black hair. No really desire to see blond or skin cap variants. Bring on Julia Carpenter!
