So the Kong Vs. Rex in this months preview is the re-solicit I take it? I don't want to order again and get 2. Anyone have any info? Were the first orders all cancelled?

has the price changed on it?

No, it's still $495 (much cheaper with dealers of course, use Danny if anyone still needs one.)

I read they increased the ES to 4,000 though. It was originally 3,000. :banghead:

I HATE when companies do this. When I ordered the GG Biker Scout, the ES was 1500. I didn't order Doom, but I know that SS increased the ES on that one, too. If the ES is announced, and a preorder is made, it's unfair to the consumer to increase it, IMO. The value goes down significantly.

It does suck, and I don't think it is right, but I'd own this particular statue
even if it had an ES of 10,000 or more, because it looks that damned cool. :buttrock:

Where is the info on a resolicit or an edition size change for this item?

Oh, I agree completely JS, but I would have waited a few months to order it now. Jan./Feb. is hitting me pretty hard in the wallet, and I could've easily waited a couple more months to get this with an extra 1,000 being released.

Had the ES been announced at 4K, I would have just waited to get it off the bay, but now fearing a cancellation fee; I am kinda stuck! :banghead:

JS go to Weta's site the ES is there.

Yes, and it is now $495. I'm even more pissed, I forgot they changed BOTH the price and the ES. :puke2:

I was wondering how a lot of dealer sites had it back up for sale, makes sense now.

Next time, get a print out of their purported LE. Then class-action their ass. Very deceptive.

That just plain sucks. Not only do they raise the price but the run too. This will be the last i'll order from Weta.

I really want this but now I think I can wait for release without fear of it being sold out.....hopefully.

From the pics I have seen and every thread on every message board I have read about this piece. I wouldnt be so confident that there will lots around after they ship. After all it is the piece to have out of the Kong line as far as I can see. Most places have it for well under the $495 price and the increase of a 1000 world wide isn't that much for something I think we can all agree on is coolest item in the kong line. If you have it for a decent price with comicstatues or any other dealer I wouldn't go jumpin ship on them to just save a few dollars you may end up not having one. Thats just my opinion though in this day of huge editions out of SS and GG I dont think 4000 is that big.

An increase of 1,000 is a HUGE amount, especially for an item in the $500 price range. This is the largest ES of any collectible I currently have on preorder, and if you read my post history here, I have a ton on order.

As a comparison, the other items I have arriving this month in the $500+ price range have the following ES.

1. 750 (MR Spec. Ops)
2. 600 (MR Star Corps)
3. 750 (MR Shock)
4. 1,250 (MR Obi Elite)

And those are Star Wars items, which are much more popular than Kong will ever be. This statue will be sitting in warehouses for a long time to come, and I say that as someone who has one on order. 4,000 is a ridiculously high amount for a $500 piece. I don't think that anyone who wants one will have any sort of problem.

Yup, 1,000 it's a GOOOOD increase for a piece like this. They got a little greedy here. But doesn't matter, will get it anyway. It's an awesome piece. What bothers me is the change in LE size AFTER they announce the LE numbers!

There should be a reduction in price IMO.

I definately think the price point is too high for such a large production run. Typically as the price goes up the number of pieces goes down, with Disney as an exception. I never could understand the prices on Disney stuff with ed of 10,000 and med/sm sizing still with a full size bowen price tag. Of course we could all be wrong if it takes off like the LOTR stuff. Then you'll e paying 2,000 for it!

I can't see this being as popular as the LoTR stuff at all.

A very nice piece for sure. I pre-ordered this thru DCBS when it was first solicited. Now since it's re-solicited, and they increased the edition AND price, I think I'll pass.

Hmmm, so they pumped up the price too? What happened with all of us that pre-ordered at $350? What's the new price now?

$350 is still the price from dealers, but the retail is $495.

When I originally ordered the Kong v. Rex, it was $245 from my dealer with a retail of $350. I ordered mine for about $260 shipped, and now it's more than $100 over that.

Plus, when I ordered, this ES was 3,000 and now it is 4,000. This will probably be the last piece I ever buy from Weta unless they make statues from The Hobbit. I'm not pleased at all. :puke2:

I think Sideshows current sculptors would do a better job on the Hobbit pieces if it ever happens.

Kinda funny how everyone says that the price is to high and the edition is too big but 98% of them are still getting it huh. :)

I can't tell from your post but are you being hit up for the extra $100. I would hope your deaer will honor the price you originally ordered it for.

How could a dealer honor the original price if Weta raised the price they are paying for it?

This has happened with Danny too Zurb. I have this ordered with comicstatues but the people who originally quoted the RRP to Danny got it wrong. I think the price jumped around $100.

I have been reading around from what I understand Weta's original MRSP on this was $350 with the ed of 3000 and it is now $495 and an ed of 4000. I guess I am going to have to stand corrected and that sucks. At least on the price. I think if you have this with a dealer and your price only went up $100 you should be thank full since the MRSP increased by $150.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but when an item gets re-solicited(as with this Kong/Rex statue), all previous orders are cancelled and the dealers now have to place an entirely new order on said statue and the customers, if they want it, now have to pay the new price for it.

Yup, I have this ordered since it first came out for pre-order, many months ago. But since then, my pre-order price was always $349. Funny that I never got this $249 price, even beeing one of the first that pre-ordered it.

That's my understanding. I had the option of cancelling my order when the price went up, which is exactly what I did.

After I saw the SDCC pictures of it here on the forum, I reordered. Of course then Weta decided to raise the ES. :banghead:
