I picked up the Director's Cut of Hellboy today with the bust. This is Sideshow's work, correct? Looks extremely good, although I haven't gotten it out of the package yet.
And it's a great deal - the DVD was $25 all by itself, but only $43 with the bust. It's definitely worth the $18!

Where's you get it? My local Best Buy said they didn't get it today and each store is only allocated 5 each.

I do think they only have five or six sitting on the table, and they were the only store (Target, Media Play, Meijers and Best Buy) that I saw it at. I'm in Michigan, btw.
Actually, finding the director's cut at any store was tricky - they were flooded with Van Helsing and Garfield though :thumbsdow

I'm still waiting for mine. It should be here anyday, from Amazon. I think it was $42.

I got mine yesterday and I have taken out the bust. It's dead on. An excellent representation. And the DVDs come with a whole lot of goodies. All in all an excellent package for the price. I usually get my DVDs from www.dvdempire.com

That's a great site. I frequently get my spec info for my column from there. Their prices aren't always the best, but they probably have the best selection of movies, from the popular to the obscure...and they also carry DVD Audio.

I kinda thought your spec info might be coming from there. :D Yeah, sometimes their prices can be a couple of bucks higher, sometimes not. But they have a great selection, they have a cool pre-order manager so I don't loose track of all my pre-orders and they ship so that you get the DVDs the day of release, many times the day before. I've been buying from them for years now. Beats running down to Best Buy and not finding the title. Actually, having it sent right to your door beats running anywhere :D

Buy.com is pretty good that way too, but I haven't bought from them in a few years though. I stick with Best Buy, because of the reward zone card. I've earned over $350 in store certificates from using it, and this is the first year (in my third now) they have actually made me pay the annual $9.95 fee. I used Amazon for the Hellboy set, because I didn't plan on getting to Best Buy when they opened today...

Wow, that's a good amount in store certificates. Should cover more than a few DVDs for sure. I wish dvdempire would do something like that, I'd be set. They did some giveaway a few years ago, over a several week period, and I was one of the weekly winners. I figured somebody checked, saw how much I was spending with them and decided to throw me that bone.

I already bought the first DVD but will buy the gift set just to get the bust. I'll give away the first DVD and keep the one with the "goodies". Hopefully this trend of DVDs with busts will continue.

Just bought the gift set today. Great bust.
Not sure what other people's experience was, but of 7 sets on display at Best Buy, 5 of them had the gun and hand snapped off. I'm not sure if this is a reflection on how Sideshow packaged the bust, or how Best Buy shipped the set.
Did anyone else notice similar damage to these sets?

I was trying to get this yesterday and couldn't find it at Target or Best Buy. So I went and ordered it off the Target Website. $43.00 + Free Shipping. I got a tracking # today so it is on it's way.

mad, mine was shipped to me and no problem. I would think it would require some effort to snap those off, it's not like an antenna or something a lot more fragile and easily broken. I bet it happens after Best Buy puts them out on the floor.. A lot of people, including small kids pick up the boxes and/or mishandle them.

If you guys are still looking for this set, try Tower Records (man, I have done a lot of promoting for them on this forum lately). They had about 5 or 6 of them on the shelf when I went earlier this week and they were $43 or $44..

Good point. That makes a lot of sense. Too bad the guns weren't loaded. That would have scared the crap out of one of those destructive little hyperactive rugrats.

I figured as much. I got mine direct through the mail. The bust is well packaged and the arm and gun are not at all fragile or particularly delicate. They must be taking some beating on the floor. Maybe Sammael is running loose through the aisles at Best Buy :)

I'll add that the packaging is very cool as well, for those that want to keep it in the window box that it came in.

They really did a good job of capturing the look of Ron Pearlman in the full make up.

This was the first year that Best Buy did not automatically renew my Rewardzone card as well.
I buy most of the new releases at Wal-Mart now anyways since they are $13.88 on all new releases vs. $15.99 and up at Best Buy.

You should move there. I hear it doesn't rain nearly as much as they say it does. And it's warm.!!!!!
Oh, silly me, I thought you said THE Amazon.

I agree when a set is reissued in a 12 month period of time that there should be some type of rebate. That is only customer friendly.
In either case, this was a cool movie and one of the better comic to big screen adaptations that has been done.
MONSTER - This is my first year in the Reward Zone. With $5 back for every $105 spent, I figure if I can get a new DVD for more than $1 difference to Best Buy, I should take it, and if it is within $1, I should get it at Best Buy (Unless I am at Best Buy and seeking instant gratification).

Mat should enjoy my praise in this review, because I give him a hard time in my review of 006 next week. Okay, not a real hard time, but a few jabs.
