I have always loved Metallica... I think they were awesome live too.

I will say that I am NOT fond of st anger in any way.

I was so excited for the first studio album in years... and I didn't get what I wanted at all... I miss newstead and I miss the Hetfield who can sing just as much as he can growl...

I saw them on the Justice Tour and the GnR/Metallica tour. Good show both times. I wasn't fond of st anger at first, but the version on the dvd with the new bassist is 100 times better than the cd version with Bob Rock on bass. Whoever mixed the album didn't do too well either...

I've seen them 8 times since Master of Puppets. I'm with you Kdawg, just can't get into St.Anger. IMO the last real good one was the Black album. After that afew good songs here and there but they have gone so far from their roots. They do kickass live though!

Amen to that! And then that trashcan sound that's supposed to be the drums!
Really love the old Metallica but since Load they've gone downhill.
Saw them 10 years ago during the Black Album and 2 years ago at a festival. They only played 2 songs from St. Anger and the rest was pre-load, so that was perfect.

I don't even mind the stuff after the Black album. It's different from the rib breaking that you took from listening to puppets or black. But it's good to. It's melodic, still heavy and I like it.

"The outlaw torn" is one of the best newer songs they have done.

Seen Talica about six times. I have to say that I have been disappointed with their last several albums. The last kick ass album they produced was And Justice For All. Since then, they have tried to be a little too main stream, IMO.

Would still see them if they come back to KC and I can afford tickets. This is a whole different thread, but what is up with ticket prices. I remember in late 80's, early 90's you could get good tickets for less than $30. Now, you have to pay close to $50......that buys a bust that you can enjoy for much longer than a 2-3 hour concert. Of course, the boobies that get flashed at the concert, those memories last a life time!!! :D

I saw Metallica on the black album tour and they were great, but I highly disagree with the reviews of Load era stuff, that is heavy, hard driving stuff and I listen to that album more than I can the very THIN sound quality on Justice....My favorite album is still Puppets though....St.Anger grew on me after I watched the DVD included in the CD package, man that is the one to listen to.... Oh and I forgot I am going to see them and Godsmack on November 3rd in Atlanta...I hope if money allows! :bawling:

I couldn't agree more Kdawg! Hetfield actually can sing and they've gotten away from that. I miss Newstead also. It's all been downhill since Black Album for me, but I'll have to check out that dvd version...

Definitely check out the DVD (the one that comes with St Anger). Most people don't realize that the new bassist is not the one playing on the studio cd. Bob Rock, the producer filled in because they still had not hired someone at the time. On the DVD, you get to hear the entire St Anger album the way it should be played - with the new (and awesomely talented) bassist, and normal drums, not the $hitcan ones that Lars plays on the original studio recording...

Don't get me wrong though. The new stuff does not compare to Puppets, Justice or a good portion of Kill Em All...

.. opening for Guns n Roses here in the D.C. area in a sold out stadium. They blew G-n-R away! 'Course recent years with all the stink they raised about pirating and bootlegs turned me off to them. Glad you liked the show, though!

Boy Tony, looking at your Myspace page I never would have guessed in a million years you liked Metallica.

So did Metallica play any of their hits from "St. Anger"?

Wait a minute, this is from 2004?

Oh man - now this brings me back - seen them 7 or 8 times including the S & M show at MSG.

Won't pay to see them now - St Anger was bleh at best and they are not worth $80 a ticket for an arena show...

Metallica has 4.5 good albums. Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightning, Kill 'Em All, Garage, Inc (MISFITS :buttrock: ) and And Justice for All. Aside from these, I'd rather just smash all of their heads together to hear the empty thud.

I agree with ya there B, I did like some of the Black album, but not all of it.:buttrock:
I saw them in concert back in the day during Monsters of rock 1988 I think, and have seen them for the Justice tour, and every tour since, even the tour with the orcestra, and they have gone down hill.:thumbsdow

It was the black album that killed it for me. They just didn't seem to have the same soul or make me want to bang my head any more.

I brought Load and was very dissappoined with it.
So much that I traded it for a Candlebox CD.

Haven't brought anything since from them.

Bob Rock killed Metallica. $$Nothing Else Matters$$ was the first sign of their decline.
