Anyone have some better pics of this?

Sculpted by Art Asylum and is limited to 2,500

Better than what?

Should I be seeing something?

Man...Wolverine sure does have a "hate on" for crates and boxes. Hate the claws.

Really needs the Hellfire mercenaries IMO.

Ditto... This would actually be my very first DST statue.

If this were 10 years ago, I'd say that was an excellent statue. In 2006? I'd say it's kinda generic looking to me, especially for an Art Asylum sculpt. They usually put out some top-notch stuff.

I think it matches the cover great!

That is so true. I think this piece doesn't make sense without it.

I'm sort of lost..... but what's generic about it?

They've created a statue based on an old comic book cover pose and given the character a more updated look (90's). Isn't that the same formula applied to just about every comic book statue today? :peoples:

Actually, the final style of the character reminds me of the X-men vs. Streetfighter days. :buttrock: Very Cool

I do agree that the Hellfire mercenaries would have been the iciing on the cake.

I dont like the statue.

If they made a diorama of Uncanny X-Men #133 now that would be cool.

There are just things about the statue that don't sit right with me. Some have already been mentioned, such as the claws and the substitution of crates for minions. Also, the overall look of the statue puts me in mind of the Marvel Model kits you used to be able to pick up at Wal-mart and Meijers for $5.99. For those that like it, congratulations on another sculpt in the collection :)

The crates instead of mercaneries bug me the most. It reminds me of the old FF cartoons where the Thing couldn't hit anybody so he just smashed walls and machinery...

Saw this statue at the LCS today and I must admit it is better and larger than I was expecting based on the pics.

Take a look for yourselves before dismissing this piece (as I did) and if you can find one for a good price, get it.

Still don't like the straight claws.

But that would make it a diorama. I think it's fine as is, keep the focus on the character. I may pick this up, I don't have a FS Wolverine yet. :buttrock:

saw this piece today too, and I was very impressed with it. Cool pose, good paint-up, overall solid Wolverine statue. Might pick it up

The only prob with this statue is that the focus of Wolverines' anger seems to be some wooden crates!

well I think its a good move for art asylum. This is the first Wolverine piece in this line that actually fits in with the other pieces. The wolverine on skulls seemed to be in 8" scale, and did not go well with the other Milestone statues. I collect a lot of the Milestone pieces, and am glad to have a Wolverine to go with the others.

I believe those crates contain the upcoming "Wolverine Lifesize 1:1 Replica Mask" released by Diamond Select.

Thanks for the pics. I neither love nor hate it, but I do think Diamond Select is starting to overcome their rep with some of these Milestone pieces. I like quite a few of them. I just wish the paint jobs were better. They lack depth and detail.

The paint job on the Milestones Hulk is the best on any Hulk statue I own. Better than Bowen, better than the HH Hulk I just bought.

And you passed on SS & Ray's ultimate Wolverine piece?!

The crates bug the hell out of me. It wouldn't be a dio if you have a base scattered with dead soldiers. It would make it more convincing then Wolvie running into boxes and chopping them up. Definite pass.

I don't mind the boxes -- less activity in the base keeps the focus on the sculpt.

Scale wise its a little bit bigger than the Bowen Wolverine on the rocks.

it's one of a better Wolvie sculpt out there, but something's still missing....
Feste, I agree with your comment.
the only DST statue I have is the Milestone Venom, I know it's weird, but gotta say my favorite part is that claw foot, it's very special and really express the possiblity and flexibility of the symbiote suit. :buttrock:

Which Wolverine was that in the pic with the bloody hands behind the crate statue? I see that the statue is named "Death Struggle".

Thats a kit that I picked up at Chiller back in 1995 sculpted by Shawn Nagel, I think, and painted by TheBatmanProfessor.
