The Prince of Power, Hercules.
One of my long time favorites.
This guy turned out really cool.
A character that's not been done to death for sure.
At least not yet...

I really do like the style of these sclupts. They remind me of the early Bowen pieces. Essentially what the character is. I wish they'd tackle the X-Men since I'm a bigger X-Men fan then Avenger one. Nevertheless, congrats on a great sculpt, and congrats for Avengers fans!! :buttrock:

(for a second there I thought I was going crazy since the thread disappeared) :peoples:

i think through the thor storyline in the 70's he didn't have the wristband and mace.

Tetragrammaton

The wristbands came later I believe but the mace was there from the beginning. He just stopped using it for some reason, probably has more fun using his fists anyway.

The way he goes through women, I always thought that should be Loin of Olympus. Great character choice Hard Hero, and superb sculpt. It warms the heart that a company can pursue this kind of character selection in the face of constant demand for things like Wolverine and Apocalypse. Bravo, and long may it continue.

Thanks! There are loads of awesome characters that have not yet seen the daylight of 3D. If the collectors support these types of characters, this sort of thing can continue.

I've always loved the Marvel Icons, but there is much more to the Marvel Universe than the top 6 characters. I think most collectors will agree.

I want to take this opportunity, once again, to express our gratitude to all those supporting this new series.

You guys keep collecting and we'll keep makin' 'em

Oh one more thing please don't do the horrible Avengers rock base. That's my only complaint about the line so far is some of the bases. I know you guys are trying to focus on the characters themselves instead of an elaborate base but damn at least put some detail in the rocks dude. Just put a little more effort into the bases and the line will be perfect.

You know, I thought about this costume (above), but I couldn't get past the shorts. I felt they would look more like a diaper in 3D. The shorts are riding pretty high. I do like the chest harness, though.

I chose the costume that was around the same era as the Thor we decided on and I always liked the leg wrappings on Hercules, but this version didn't have wrist bands.

We actually tried the wrist bands in the development stages, just to take a look. They made the piece look too busy. When painted up there will be a nice balance between the flesh tones and the costume.

Oh, and the mace. Without the wrist bands, the mace was going to be a casting issue.
Actually, the Hercules from our chosen era didn't carry a mace. He just busted heads with his bare hands. Seth preferred the open hand for the intensity it created and I was an easy sell for the same. I guess in the end, it's up to each man's choice. The Marvel Universe is so vast with loads of choices of characters and costumes.

02-25-2006, 11:09 PM
I agree. when Hercules did make his early appearances in Thor he did have his mace.
but during the 220's-230's he kinda forgot about it. I can't tell you off hand when was the last time he carried it around.

Rob Potts
02-26-2006, 01:22 AM
Yeah, I guess some forgot Hercules had a beard most of the time.
The sculpting material being one color makes the beard seem like a super pronounced chin. The final paint will take care of this issue. The base will follow along the Avengers design.

While we can all appreciate the demand for more first tier characters like the X-men, look at the overwhelmingly positive response for Hercules. It's quite likely that for many, this will be their first HH purchase. It opens the door to buy more HH product...

I hope HH takes more risks because it's moves like this that make collectors believe that HH is it for the long haul...

Yup, it would be... Still crossing my fingers that somewhere does the line someone tries to make it. In any event, whenever you hear about a company making characters like Hercules, you can't help but feel a bit more optimistic.

:)

P.S. I can't remember who said this (it was a great idea) but someone suggested using a Ghost Rider scale for BK and A. I'd go for that too.

Hey borrowed an Atomic Steed used by the Knights of Wundagore. The Beast obtained one during an Avengers mission.

Aragorn/ Stryder would look a lot more impressive than this gizmo.

I would rather have a gizmo than a horse, the gizmo figures into modern timelines better that a horse with wings.

I love the Hard Hero poses; they remind me of Bernini's David. Here is a description of the piece, check it out and see how it could translate to the HH sculpts.

One fact of Bernini's great genius should be pointed out. Almost all statues which preceded his stood self contained, insulated, apart from the spectator. . Bernini causes the viewer to become a part of his David statue. He who looks at this giant slayer senses Goliath standing behind and above his shoulder. The viewer is almost prompted to move from the path of the projectile. The space in front of the statue becomes a part of the concept. David stands above his cast-off harp and armor. He grimaces with determination. The immense tension of the twisted body conveys the force that David is ready to release. His muscular foot grips the base of the statue to withstand the body tension. The action has reached that moment when the stone is ready to be released. It is a marvel of dramatic action frozen in stone.

I couldn't agree more. The classic figure will never be surpassed.
Our intent with this line is to move a little beyond the collectible, towards a greater feel of true art. It's my opinion that all top tier comic illustrators have had a classic feel to their work. Certainly, most if not all have made reference to their ties with the classic style.

The human figure is still the greatest achievement of creation. It's really limitless as to where you can go with the figure. I hope most will see what we're trying to achieve and appreciate these awesome characters presented as they are.

I prefer no mace. I apologize to those who requests one, but I don't see the mace as a signature weapon as Thor is to his hammer or Cap is to his shield because Hercules often fought with his bare hands.

VERY VERY VERY nice.

This is the first HH piece I will be getting. It will look awesome painted.

Sorry to ask...........How close to scale is it to BD stuff???

GREAT choice of character. And just as incredable scuplt!!!!!!!!!!!If I saw one more Wolv.,Cap.,.....blah blah blah.

I realize a company needs to do the BIG names, and I don't fault anyone for that. To do such a 2nd or 3rd string character,KUDOS to you. That's also
why I'll buy it.

SUPPORT the underlings.

A side note, I'm still fence sitting on the Namor. It's reeeeeaalllyy nice. It's
just the wallet can only be pushed to a certain limit.

Looking forward to more HH stuff.

Sightly larger. It is noticeable displaying side by side.

Mine, too. This is one helluva sculpt though my preference would be if he were holding his mac, about to bestow "the gift" on some poor slob. Alot will depend on the paint job now.

i dont see herc as a mac user. he is a windows guy. a mac would be just to much for him.

I believe the lion's head belt was from his first period with the Avengers.

Check the Thor books in the late 60's, early 70's.
I think it's cool. He is the "lion of Olympus."

Man, HH is really making a great line. Looks like the obvious theme is Avengers. I wondor who else they'll do from the Avengers. There are so many of them I can't wait to see what is coming out next. What about the rest of the FF4? HH is a contendar, not a pretender, thats for sure.
