There will be a special guest signing on Saturday at the con! We're waiting for him to get be able to confirm it and then he will make the announcement himself. It will be a top sculptor in this industry so if you live nearby, you will be able to get your statues signed if you want!!

Chicago's great. This will be like my sixth or seventh consecutive year going. I'm already counting down the days (116 as of today)

As far as hotels go, I can see where being connected to the convention center could be worth it if you're flying, but if you're driving, nah. We paid $180 a night the first couple years to stay at one of those hotels and then switched to a Hampton Inn 6 miles down the road. $70 a night means I have a lot more money to spend on statues.

D rod, Moore is a nice exclusive. Will you have a Moore sale prior to the show and allow members to pick up their pieces at the show and get signed?

I usually stay at a Marriot about 1-2 miles down the road. Close enough to walk to the show, but far enough away to not be overrun by comic geeks (at least that is how my wife sees it).

Did anybody go to the premiere night Thursday last year? It's included in the regular ticket price this year but we don't normally leave until Thurs. night-Friday morning around 2am to avoid the cross-Chicago traffic. If it's worth attending, we want to change our plans. I'm mainly hesitant because it's been my experience that on Sat-Sunday when they let the advance ticket holders in an hour early, a lot of the exhibitors don't bother showing up until the doors open for everyone. Thanks for any responses.

An open letter to Danny!

Danny,

As you know I am always trying to come up with unique and creative ideas to assist you in your efforts in making SF.com a success!

I have yet another monumental idea that I want to share with you publically to get some feedback from our fellow forum members on.

With the recent mentioning of SF.com in Toyfare magazine, and the buzz that has been generated by the HH exclusive line, as well as the excitement of the chance that there may be a SF exclusive Bowen piece at WW-Chicago, I see an opportunity to promote SF.com and CS.com in a way that might get some media attention from the local Chicago affiliates and raise money for charity at the same time.

My equation is a simple one.....

CK13 + DUNK TANK + $5.00 + 3 Softballs = $$$$ Money for local kids charities in the Chicago area!

If you can get Coca there, you could charge $10 for 3 softballs!

Just wanted to pass this along to do what I can, as it looks like I will be unable to attend! I will keep thinking of more ideas and PM you when they strike!

Ryche, You could charge $100.00 and I'd drop a grand. Especially if the tank were filled with piranha. It'd be the only time in history that Piranha didn't go into a feeding frenzy when something hit the water.

You also get a Hulk Hogan mint figure. :tounge:

Still waiting to see what, if anything, is included in the $150 Toy Fair VIP package which is what I purchased last year to get the Black Queen bust which ended up being available to the public the next day anyway. But did like not have to wait in line to get in so maybe the price was worth it.

The Woodfield Mall area is about 20 minutes away from the convention center. It is the largest retail space mall in America. (The Mall of America is the largest, but when you remove the rides, etc and just leave the stores, Woodfield is BIGGER.) There has got to be a movie theatre in there somewhere. Look under Schaumburg, IL

That sounds cool, may have to check it out. Although we've been going for several years, we haven't really explored too much because none of us wants to wind up lost in Chicago. However, I'd really like to experience Supes in Imax 3-d, so the other two will just have to grin and bear it as we venture into the unknown. Thanks for the response

There is an IMAX to the NE in Lincolnshire and to the S in Woodridge. Both are in a 1 hour radius of Schaumburg, but probably further than you want to go.

Here's a link to the Mall:

Here's a link to a nearby theater:

Mod - change my vote from a Maybe to a Yes, please.

Madjazz and Mrs. Madjazz are coming out on Thursday and leaving Sunday early afternoon. I'll be at the convention on Friday and Saturday (Mrs. will be there some of the time).

Looking forward to seeing a bunch of Forum members that I have not yet met in person. I missed Danny on the trip he made to NYC (edit), and the storm killed his planned return trip. Also looking forward to seeing some members I have already met. I'll also see CK13 again. :D

I'm going to try and hit downtown Chicago with the wife on Thursday.

This will be cool.

Maybe some place like this for dinner.

http://www.ginosonhiggins.com/

Party rooms available. Just a suggestion.
They've got some of the best pizza I've ever had. I always try to go there when I go to WWChicago. Also, check out Leona's Restaurant. Great food there too.

This is where it sucks not to live in the US.

With all the talk of Chicago, I really, really wanna go (stamps feet)

It's just too expensive when you figure in flights.

It's not so much that I'm bothered about the con, just the meet-up!

Guess I didn't get the memo :sly2:

Guess what I am asking is..are we going to try to get a party room somewhere? 24 people have said they will be there, another 5 I know will be there that said the might or didn't vote. So we are looking at a possible 25-30 people. May be tough getting a place for all of us. :)

Earlier in the thread we had talked about going to The RAM. I don't think anyone actually opted to set something up. Anyone local want to take this on for the group?

How does 8 pm on Saturday sound? Should we start a separate thread with a poll to get a head count?
