Between DANA's relentless pursuit of BRB, and Randy apparently granting his wish, I have decided to crusade for a full size Galactus. Yes, I realize that this is about a 1 in a million long shot, but what have I got to lose?
So, vote in this poll, and be serious. If Randy were to make a full size, would you seriously consider getting it? I'm thinking about 5 feet tall (haha, I'm taller than that!!). As a guess, five times the height of a regular full size, about 5 times the cost. Maybe $1000?? I'd be willing to go for it, who else???

I'll help you get a full-size Galactus if you promise to help me get a full-size Eternity.

Okay, I will settle for a full-size Ego, The Living Planet.

Like the Bronze pieces, huh? That would be cool. How about a GALAN bust to go along with it (Galactus previous mortal form), maybe only with the first 48 (per his first appearance in FF48?)

Just think if you had a custom made lighted glass cabinet for statues that was, say, 4-5 feet wide and 6 to 7 feet tall. But, the adustable shelves could allow for, say "half shelves" that were 2.5 or so feet wide . . .

. . . you could line up the half-shelves all on one side of the curio and have Galactus standing on the bottom shelf, towering (and looking down) over all the other pieces on the "half-shelves" on the other side, spaced about 14 or so inches above the one above and below . . .

Wicked, man!!

galactus
11-01-2004, 08:43 PM
My thought is Galactus towering over the DS Thanos statue, looking up with the closed fist a la the cover to Infinity Gauntlet #5.

Confessor
11-01-2004, 08:43 PM
. . . the top light in the curio would shine down, and cast a shadow over G's lower face, upper chest and neck, and some part of the statues overwhich G stands!!!

Resculpt the fist , make it an open palm and stablize it .
Then have an exact hole so we can put the surfer on his palm without the base!!!
This would be the cooliest thisng out there!!!!!!!!
Who offers this option????
Bowen that's who

it's not just a rescuplt but an orginal piece now !!!! interchangable, have one surfer full size in the case and one in galactus's hand!!!!

Would it ship as one piece?

What license does this fall under? Can you make a statue any size above a certain height? Maybe a Stilt-Man full-size is in store. Or better yet, a full-size Goliath!

Randy, you have really outdone yourself with this one. Kudos to your factory guys for moving on this.

The big question for me: Will 100 people really buy this thing? At $800 ea?

other details-
packaging: brown reinforced case only. At only 100 pieces it would not be worth it to create the full color box (Maybe impossible).
S.Surfer in hand- I'll look into it...(or maybe just include a slot- so that they can be sold seperately).
Our license only says: Statues over 12.1 inches... I guess this qualifies?
Marvel has not even seen this yet, so I can't promise anything.

I'm not that interested in (or insane enough to get) Galactus. However, I used to work retail and there was this glass shirt display that I was told to throw away once that they let me take apart and take home with me (currently in storage). It had many, many pieces of glass held together with metal connectors to make cubby shelves to hold shirts. Its base is light gray, made of wood, measures about 3.5ft X 5ft and about 1ft high, and was obviously designed to hold weight. It wouldn't be hard to build a human sized cabinet around it. Now, if a Sentinel was made like this...

But I'm still waiting for a Sentinel on the mini scale. :(

I think a 100 is easily achievable Randy. I should point out that I wouldn't be one of those hundred, but I think that number could be achieved. Especially if you get some press releases out there.

As for Marvel signing off on it, you know them better than us when it comes to stuff like this. However, I can't imagine them saying no. The buzz on this would be very impressive. And I think if you offered them some as give-aways at conventions they would totally sign onto this.

Sooner or later they are going to do a huge Galactus story, I can just feel it coming. They are starting the shared universe feel again, and what better threat than Glactus?

Quote from Randy:
"The big question for me: Will 100 people really buy this thing? At $800 ea?

other details-
packaging: brown reinforced case only. At only 100 pieces it would not be worth it to create the full color box (Maybe impossible).
S.Surfer in hand- I'll look into it...(or maybe just include a slot- so that they can be sold seperately).
Our license only says: Statues over 12.1 inches... I guess this qualifies?
Marvel has not even seen this yet, so I can't promise anything."

hey jack8022 who cares if you get divorced have more room to place galactus in the living room if you want.
My wife was watching as I took out my measuring tape and started talking ot my self to visualize the height of this beast. Then I told my son to stand by the tape, it is literally two sizes of my son !!! I was blown away by this awesome I tell you it must be done!!!! :thumbs2:

And just for fun we could probably get our Galactus (aka Drew) to jump up (maybe use a step ladder so he doens't hurt himself or the statue while jumping) and sit rather comfortably in the big guy's hand. Now there's a picture.

I wonder how much a private commission of a four foot Galactus would be?

Aren't all those 1:1 statues fiberglass?

At a grand, it would be a tough call. I would expect it to be a low run and would hope that it would be solicited with a lot of advance notice. If it were to just show up on the BD site, I probably would not have the funds to get one. It would be an impressive sculpt for sure!

Bro just buy mine (#32) and display him with those trick mirrors where everything looks bigger.:eplus2:

How is 5 feet full size? 20 feet is full size.

We already got one almost 2 feet tall.

I checked wth the wife -- 1) A grand and not a penny more! 2) If it's an inch taller than 5 feet, it sleeps in the house and you sleep in the tool shed . . . Until hell freezes over 3) When you die, do you want your ashes poured in the hole I'm drilling in the top of the head? 4) You already have an action figure, a BIG action figure, a build a figure, a two-foot tall statue by that guy Bowen and that mini bust thing by him, how many do you NEED?

You'll note she did not say NO, so there's hope.

I'd still buy it. Maybe Randy could take orders in advance and require a 20% non refundable deposit.

Can you imagine the size of the box? The PF Hulk's box was the size a small washing machine, this would be the size a small freezer or refrig. LOL

I don't know...I LOVE the current FS Galactus! He's one of my favorites! I don't know if I need a "Full-Size" one. In a perfect world, if I was rich & had a lot of money...YES! I have to think about this before I vote. I take voting seriously, especially when someone really wants a statue made. You have to be willing to vote with your wallet as well.

I had made a post about this awhile ago saying that all Randy had to do would make it like the legends figure. Randy made the sentinnel with detachable arms and head, now make the Galactus the same way.As far as size would go you could have smaller boxes then one great big one. For example:arms and head in one box torso in another and legs in the last.Assembled statue is marked and numbered and packaged accordingly so all the pieces would fit. Having smaller boxes would make shipping easier maybe keep costs down. I know some of you would think its more a toy then a statue but I cant see any other way this could be done unless it is done here in the states. This is just my opinion.I would love to have one:thumbs2:
