I dont think there ever has been a pic of the Surfer that is the quality of the Thor pic...

IMAGINE if Danny could work his magic and make this part of the Moore SF Exclusive series!!!

Sadly, because CS Moore Studios would need a Marvel license (I'm guessing).

But I'm with you guys on this: this piece has to be released one way or another. It's an iconic sculpt of an iconic cover.

it was rhetorical jerseydevil ;)

what i meant was it would be a grave travesty if no one picked this up. i believe Clay has shopped this around to a few companies but no one was interested at the time.

Sorry, MS. My bad. :) But I would agree it would be a shame if this was never produced.

Thanks.

If this cover does end up being done (Moore, SS, or anyone else) I do hope they elevate the Surfer rather than putting him on a flat base as pictured.

This piece has several very difficult things going against it when it comes to distribution. The killing blow is that it is obviously a Marvel product and CS Moore Studios does NOT have the license to distribute Marvel characters. As such it can ONLY be picked up by a company that does. As Moore now has his own distribution company, the chances that Hard Hero or Bowen or Sideshow will pick this up is essentially zero.

The only other way to make this available to the masses is in the form of a low distribution garage kit. Even if Moore were contemplate doing this (VERY unlikely) it is doubtful that Marvel would do nothing as this isn't some local internent garage kit maker like Rhino Resin or Formation Designs. This is a VERY high profile sculptor . . . one of the absolute best in the industry. He would probably be subjected to much higher scrutiny when it comes to violating licenses and so even as a garage kit this piece is unlikely to see the light of day.

My suspicion is he's doing this for his own personal collection or as gifts to a select, select group of close friends, family, and business associates.

Sorry to be such a downer but this is the reality of the project as I see it and as it has been discussed in various threads on this forum.
