MORE MOORE...
I couldn't resist throwing a couple up here as well. The day I walked into the local comic shop and saw Moore's Barbarian and Moore's Fathom )Tank Top) - I was hooked. Bought them both that day and life have never been the same since. I grew up with Conan as my favorite read and Frazetta as my favorite fantasy artist so it was a perfect fit. Since my first two were by Moore before I knew who or what a Moore was, it was inevitable he was to be stamped as my favorite sculptor...

Since that fateful day I have picked up a few more along the way, a couple of which do not seem to get much attention on this forum. In addition to those pictured, I have Magdelena, Aphrodite IX, WitchBlade, Kabuki and Vampirella.

QUESTION: I have always wondered about the edition size of Aphrodite IX. Does anyone own one or heard of one numbered over #1000? Mine is 641 of 4000. All the auctions I ever followed were always below #1000. I think I remember reading somewhere that the character did not sell very well and the balance of the edition may not have ever been produced... which leads me to believe the original could maybe be re-released as it is - just to fulfill the original edition size. Any thoughts on this??

greetings everyone !! long time Clayburn Moore fan, and even helped out at the Moore Creations booth at the San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) and Dragon Con in Atlanta afew years back....

here are my 2 PRIZED Moore Creations Statues ---

Diamond Edition Lady Death 13/300 yes the diamonds are in the skull between the breasts ... (blue skull)

and the Prototype Paint Master (green skull) that was used for all the publicity/sales advertisments... as you can tell the paint master has more darkened "highlights" and the paint (hand painted by Paul Moore) is as perfect as one could want... there are even two small silver dots in the eyes....

needless to say i cannot wait for the new Clayburn Moore Lady Death statue !!!

I only have fathom and darkness bust so far.
One strange thing is, darkness bust is AP/ 3000 and AP is handwritten but then why it is 3000 ? can there be a mistake, if anybody is aware of this ?
I buy it from ebay and I presume the seller write it himself for the paint is not like the one as in "3000"

Here you go Bulls. It looks like the scale is almost perfect between these two. I wouldn't expect Matt to be as tall or muscular as Barbarian. I stacked a couple of video game cases underneath to try and get their feet in about the same location. Hope this helps you decide!

I can answer that. Yes, it is one of the professionally painted Factory grey primed samples of which there's probably only 20 or so out there.

Masterful job by Paul Moore

2 were sold not long ago both for 4 digits. One was 2500 if I'm not mistaken?

dfchang, yes, this was the first of the most recent one's sold by Paul. The second one was very 'clean' compared to this one..I kind of like the 'gritty' look myself.

leks, take a peek at the top of the first picture of Barbarian I posted.

The paintwork is just incredible, and I wish the pictures did it justice. He signed the underneath of the statue(which is primer grey, like dfchang mentioned), and I received a certificate with Clay's and Paul's signatures. Paul is a stand-up guy.

Glad you guys like it. I have a couple more pieces I am going to post later.

Actually, Tizou, the AIX with the lighted base I believe you're speaking of, belongs to Jim Rowell, an excellent painter who has worked with Moore Creations in the past. If you check his website, modelpainter.com, you will see the lighted base he created for his personal AIX.

Paul Moore did it. It's a resculpt from a pre-production sample and was re-painted more realistically by him. There is only one ever made.

I can see why you might say this from looking at these photos from Hardheroine, but in real life I think they look very natural to the piece. For some reason photos taken below looking up at her make the breasts look a bit unnatural. As far as the lightness of the breasts goes... I painted them like that to give them a sort of tanline effect, but without distinct tan lines. I'm a big fan of tan lines on a woman, but I didn't think it would be appropriate to make them too sharp on this piece. It would have been far simpler to have not made the breasts lighter at all, but that's not the effect I wanted.

By the way, I didn't change Clay's sculpt of the breasts other than to sand them down a bit to get rid of the bikini top borderlines. Then I added the areolas and nipples with epoxy putty. Done!

I own the Fathom clear base.

It is technically not a "repaint" as the base and bottom of her legs aren't really "painted" but made of a clear type of resin I think.

In any case there were only 2 made. They were thinking about doing the effect but it was too expensive and complicated to do and so the idea got scrapped. What was left were these 2 prototypes.

I got it for about 500 I think off ebay.

Now the nude Fathom IS a repaint and resculpt and I think it's incredible.

If you don't mind, Hardhero how much did you spend on the custom? At least 1000 I'd think?

Yes, it's hard to describe. The base is a lot more . . . "rubber-like" than the rest of the cold-cast. the transition is seamless though.

And even though the base is smaller, the piece is so light that there's really no issue of it tipping over.

I think for licensing reasons, they're not allowed to show it. Remember that this isn't Clay's property so Top Cow might not like it when nude versions of their characters get sold on Internet or their images propagated. PM photos are fine though.

It would be similar to having Jean Grey stripped down nude in an exotic pose and then being sold for 1500 or something. There's no way Marvel would miss THAT. :)

I just got my Emma Frost Retro Statue signed by Moore!!! I'm so glad I didnt get it when it fist came out. Now I have a signed version. I just wish my modern emma frost was singed as well.

Sorry, had to give Draco some much needed love! This is truly one of my favorite statues. The paint is brilliant, the sculpt is fantastic, and it's probably the best dragon statue on the planet!

I was lucky, I got one on ebay. It was a bit pricey but Ill never get rid of it, so its worth it.I love the way it looks unpainted. More of a classic look.

I was a bit worried about the paint especially on face because of that statues size, but it really is a decent paint job. The face looks very good! I really like that little Kabuki. Dont pass it up because of the size.

The new Kabuki is a tall statue (to me)/. If memory serves, it comes in at around 15 inches tall.

greetings everyone !! long time Clayburn Moore fan, and even helped out at the Moore Creations booth at the San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) and Dragon Con in Atlanta afew years back....

here are my 2 PRIZED Moore Creations Statues ---

Diamond Edition Lady Death 13/300 yes the diamonds are in the skull between the breasts ... (blue skull)

and the Prototype Paint Master (green skull) that was used for all the publicity/sales advertisments... as you can tell the paint master has more darkened "highlights" and the paint (hand painted by Paul Moore) is as perfect as one could want... there are even two small silver dots in the eyes....

needless to say i cannot wait for the new Clayburn Moore Lady Death statue !!!

I really wish I had gotten a few of his earliest pieces to cap the collection off, like Pitt, Lady Death, and Ripclaw... but c'est la vi' I have most of his others and I am quite pleased with all of them...

To the top of her hair is 6 1/2 inches, around 7 inches to the top of the sword.

thanks, i have a lot to learn. it's because of Cap that i got into high end camera gear. i also have the one he uses. Canon 30D. i highly recommend investing more of the money into quality lenses. i am so addicted!
