Any Indies/obscure characters you'd like to see Clay do?

Ones I'd like are:

1. Painkiller Jane
2. Tank Girl
3. Then there's this one character I see in Previews occasionally.. She's a gal who throws bombs. The name escapes me right now. Can anyone help out?

Well I try not to speak for Clay. I don't usually find out about a new license very much in advance of you guys. But I will tell you guys what I know when I can. If I posted that he was getting something new but that I couldn't tell you what it was it would just drive you guys nuts. Also he is pretty booked up right now. I think there are some really great suggestions here, though for legal reasons ome of them seem unlikely (DC or Marvel, sorry guys), I just don't know when he could fit in the time to work on any of them.

Wow, thx for the response. I was j/k with my post. Clay can find time by outsourcing to sculptors and "tweaking" them similar to how Randy does it. Didn't he do that for Witchblade II and Vampi?

'Course I'm sure Clay wants to do every sculpt personally, and if that's the case, then that's cool.

No problem, I spend way too much time here anyway. Anything to keep from working

I think Clay would like to source other sculptors eventually, the problem is most of the people he is working with now agreed to go with Clay in large part because they wanted him to work on their properties. I think eventually, once every creator has had Clay finish one or two of their pieces you can expect to see other sculptors hired again.

I wouldn't mind seeing some of the Heroic Publishing (http://www.heroicpub.com/) line done by Clay; I've been a fan of the Champions and Flare since they first started back in the 80's.

^ Yep! I think I would most like that March '06 pose with the other costume pictured. The March '06 costume is pretty much just a generic leather outfit; I would rather have something more unique on her. So keep the '06 pose and body; use the older costume. :)

Wonderwoman, Catwoman, Black Canary, Huntress. lots of the DC women

Okay, here are some general points to consider: I won't do Red Sonja because I don't do business with the owner of that license.
I can do my own Jungle Girl or Dinosaur Girl and probalby will. It doesn't make sense to license just a single piece of art from a 2-D artist unless the image really is amazing and the guy's name is Frazetta. I can design and sculpt my own, and plan to do so.
DC characters are done in house and working with them is doubtful. I think I would really only be interested in the Batman, but they know that. Nuff said on that.

Michael's right here, as usual. Regarding Jim Lee: I know him professionally and think he is an incredible talent. But isn't Homage studio a part of DC now? Maybe I'm years behind on that....
I've mentioned before that I have no interest in being Marvel licensee number 12 or 15 or whatever my money buys me. No thank you.

Given that DC and Marvel are out of the pic (it's a shame because I would love some Planetary statues) I say just do more Savage Dragon full size sculpts. I own the AP Dragon bust (one of 3 busts I own since I don't collect busts) and it is excellent. I'm also looking forward to the She-Dragon (where is the mohawk?).

Savage Dragon has lots of interesting characters. If we are talking sculpts of women there is Rapture and Jennifer (Dragon's wife). Those would make great statues. For a more different look you have other characters like Widow and Horridous (spiky orange girl).

Of course there is always Dragon himself. I was never happy with the original statue. There was something off in the "likeness". If you could do a statue with the face of the bust that would be excellent. It would also update the character since he is no longer a cop from Chicago.

I'm a big fan Clay. These are just a few suggestions but I am sure you'll hit it out of the park regardless. :)

Thanks Clay.

My point to creating this post is.. there's alot of fun Indies out there that haven't been done and (IMO) the companies would love to have one of their characters sculpted by CSM.

We're statue geeks here and have an interest in a wide variety of characters. I can't think of one Moore sculpt that hasn't done well (Except for maybe Graveyard) on the statue market.

That said, if you sculpt it, they will come.

Thanks cblakey. There are a lot of characters out there that would be nice to do. Luckily, I work much faster than I used to and feel like I'm getting a fair amount done.
I think we only produced a run of several hundred of the Graveyard piece. That was done as a favor to my manufacturer who had bought the rights to the piece from Susumu Sugita, who sculpted it. We went ahead and agreed to produce it as part of the arrangement with Kevin Eastman on FAKK2. It did fine since we didn't overproduce it.

Have you considered doing characters from Underworld, the Kate Beckinsale film? There are numerous great possibilities there... There's talk of a third film coming out too.

Also, have you ever heard of Luis Rojo? His paintings... Your sculptures... The two of you would be a match made in heaven...

I'm going to throw 2 licenses out there that no one has mentioned.

1) More Strangers in Paradise pieces

The older SIP pieces are really nice and the cast is big enough for more busts or statues (even if they're minis). Since Terry Moore is going to be ending the book in a few months, maybe a new piece to celebrate the series?

2) Poison Elves by Drew Hayes

There was a small statue done by Fewture (I think) a long time ago, and when Drew Hayes got sick pretty much any other possibilities got shelved (I assume). This is a great world of characters that would be awesome as statues and busts!

Keep up the great work Clay!
