I could never afford most of this stuff, but I LOVE looking at it. I've often thought of selling large portions of my collection for just 1 or 2 pieces of this signficance. Their prices ARE ripoffs, though. Screenused and Propstore have prices that are 1/2 as expensive in some cases, and that doesn't include the 18% buyer's premium that Profiles charges.

Scroll through their list of items for sale, and you will find a grail you want:

I think this item is a good price, and I would LOVE to own it:

There are a TON more cool ones, including the Sankara Stones from Temple of Doom, the Grail Tablet from Last Crusade, a full Rocketeer costume, John Wayne's costume from The Searchers, the original concept art for the Star Wars "Style A" poster, and on and on....

That's some ridiculously cool stuff. I love the Star Trek TOS stuff they have, especially "Mirror Kirk's" tunic. And damn, that Indy stuff is sweet. I'd also love that POTA full ape costume.

LOL! Yes, but not at that price... Thanks anyway.

I do love the ALIEN QUEEN too, but would never buy it even if I had the money. FOAM RUBBER gets rotten after a while.

I just signed up for these auctions. I've got my eye on a few items.

This is my first live auction on Ebay, and I can't wait until Friday to see how it works.

Make sure it's not a higher buyers premium buying through Ebay instead of submitting a bid with Profiles. I know Heritage charges an extra 5% to 10% more through Ebay than if you did it through them.

I'll do that, thanks.

Hey Elwood,

I had the chance to do a viewing for these auctions. It was amazing to see some of the pieces close-up. I had my eye on a couple of pieces, but the material used in creation aren't time friendly. The pieces that are exceed my price range. Either way it was a great experience. I might try to attend a portion of the auction for the hell of it....who knows I might get an itchy trigger finger.

It's a really nice looking display/pose. Too bad the spines aren't even close to original, and the tail is too long. The foam is in pretty bad shape too for that much $. It's also not the "hero" as stated. Bob Burns has all of the true 'Hero" puppets.

Still though, a nice piece and a true collector's item there... :)

Profiles has a MAJOR problem with provenance/authenticity in some of their auctions, IMO.

I already pointed out major errors in 2 of the other auctions, and they changed the wording.

Some of the stuff up for sale is clearly a fake. There hasn't been enough research put into it, which is scary. I know who owns this puppet, and they did NOT represent to Profiles that it is the hero.

Here is the wording straight from his site:

For the past few months (late 2005), this puppet has undergone some restoration, due to some deterioration in some of the foam areas, such as the hands and feet. While the restored areas had to also be repainted, the majority of the paint job is still original. When the puppet was originally obtained, the spikes on its back were missing and were recently re-sculpted to bring the Queen back to her full on-screen glory (sculpture was executed by an FX artist who is a devoted Alien aficionado and has done tremendous amounts of research on the Alien designs, which in the past had led to his assignment of Alien-related sculptures for a number of licensed Alien toys). While an original screen used mechanical tail came with the Queen, I opted to have a second tail sculpted (from archival photo reference straight out of Stan Winston Studios), due to the fact that attachment of the mechanical tail to the puppet would have necessitated the clipping of the mechanical tail's wires. The puppet therefore now features a scratch-built (and, yes, poseable) tail while the screen-used mechanical tail (currently still in restoration process) will be added later on its own separate base (which can attach to the main puppet base).

I actually was looking at the video of Bob Burns's collection last night on the Alien Quad set, and his Queen miniature looks like it is pretty good shape with the exception of the tail.

Thanks for your input srne, it's always good to hear from an expert on the Stan Winston items.

Bob has several Queen puppets in various states of decay. A couple of floppy versions and the "Hero" cable puppet. The hero is in pretty good shape overall considering the abuse it went through for filming and its age. The others aren't doing quite so well unfortunately. It's really too bad that foam doesn't last longer. All things considered, the body on this one is in pretty good shape. The big problem is the legs and arms.
