What is the most valuable non-sport card?
I believe I know what it is, and have some good ideas for runner ups.
Just curious to see what you guys think it is.

Carrie Fisher Star Wars Evolution autographed card. I was lucky enough to pull a Peter Mayhew from a back and still have it, I have thought about selling it now that they are putting out a second series.

I'm not asking what the most valuable card you own, but maybe I should start a TREAD about that.
What do you think the resell value is for Star Wars autograph cards?

OK,
I don't know if anyone ever pulled this out of a pack....but in the Hulk movie cards there was a die cut Jack Kirby autograph 1 of 1 card with some art work of Jack's version of the Hulk. (He was the artist that invented him along with Stan Lee). Seeing what Kirby artwork goes for I would imagine a 1/1 card would be extremely expensive.

Oh, I forgot about that one.
That would rate right up there in the top 10. Probably in the top 5.
Any one have a clue what that might be worth?

My 1st thought for most expensive non-sport card is the Walt Disney cut signature card from Disney Treasures series 1.

But, I honestly thought there was an old presidents set from WAY back when that there was only a couple known in existence and were in the 10's of thousands.

We can start a list all day long on autos and even some chase cards that are up there in price. Jennifer Garner's auto from the Daredevil set :banghead: , Gillian Anderson's signed pieceworks card from X-Files Connections :buttrock: , etc.

So give it up! What card were you thinking of? I gots to know! :inquisiti

Won't say yet.
I believe you're correct about the president set.
Man, all I need is 3 more X-Files autograph cards, and I'll have them all.
I gave up looking for some time. Too much $$. I should start keeping an eye out for them again.

The cards themselves aren't worth that much now. Seen Human Torch on Ebay several months ago. Sold for something like $90+.

well, as nbr3bagshotrow said on the other thread, his friend managed to get the spidey card, and sold the painting for $30,000!

The question here, is are you after the most expensive card or the rarest?

series 2 $7000
seires 3 $6000(it is not made clear if this is for the set or for each card)
Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azxkaban Radliffe, watson, Glint autographs $1,055 ea.
Lord of the Rings Domonic Monaghan $1,500
Star trek: TOS Series 1 Joan Collins autograph $1,000

Well, one of the rarest would be the Jack Kirby signature 1 of 1 card from the Hulk series.
There's 10 or less X-Files Donruss prototype cards out there.

Usually rare and expensive go hand in hand.

As I said before, the actual Marvel Masterpiece redemption card is not worth much.
I bet you couldn't sell it for $30,000 before being redeemed.

tatx is right. The redemption cards themselves don't go for as much as you'd think. The original painting? That's different.

The disney sketch cards are EACH. Not a set. That is actually impossible. Also, the Harry Potter POA auto cards of Radcliffe, Watson and Grint? That's a Triple autograph card that goes for that much. It honestly usually goes for far more than that.

I believe this is one of the most expensive non-sport cards.
Don't remember what they have sold for exactly.
I'll try to find out.

There is only one Yoda, so Lucas didn't want this card released.
But of course, a few made their way out from Topps.

What's the point when you can easily go to a convention and get that person to sign whatever you want for free or at the very most, $20? I've never paid for "authentic" autographed cards and doubt that I will. I do have carrie fisher's autograph, but it is on Brian Stelfreeze's mastervision card, and looks much better than on a tiny card.

I've never understood people who pay wads of money for items that are already signed unless they purchase the autos them selves. the thrill is for the HUNT of the autograph, not the purchase

Personally Joy Division, I agree with you in most cases. There is nothing more exciting in this hobby than pulling a signed card out of a pack. Now, just like in collecting statues and busts, there are completists out there that want every single card from a set. For those people, what makes more sense $$$ wise...buy box after box (at $50-$90 per box) HOPING for that last expensive autograph card, or simply trade/buy that last card?

Thankfully my wife and I don't fall into that category as it would be worse that being a Bowen completist! But I do understand the desire for the high end autograph cards cause there's the guarantee that they're authentic. I have photos and cards signed by people in person as well. And for me it's great, but from a collection standpoint, there's not as much PERCEIVED value there. I am not trying to say in any way shape or form that a person's signature is worthless if it's not on a trading card. I know that's not true at all!

I can never see paying $1100 for a Harry Potter POA triple signed autograph card just as much as I can never see paying $700 for a Chrome Silver Surfer Mini Bust. :bawling: But at least there's still that SLIM chance of pulling the HP card in boxes!

I'm pretty much a completist when it comes to my cards.
We have all but 3 of the X-Files Autograph cards.
What sucks is that we bought 2 cases of each of the last few Inkworks series.
True, the thrill of the hunt is there to pull a chase card from a pack.
But I tresure the cards and things that I personally meet the person to get the autograph.

I'll have to take a pic soon of my "Creator Signature Series Bust Shelf."
