OMG!!! :buttrock:

I've been dying to get a glimpse of this piece.
The details look awesome, and that comparison shot next to the AT-AT hull shows how huge this will be!

This is going to be one amazing/expensive piece!

What still saddens me is that whenever I see pics of the engineers, designers, or blueprint people (or whatever) on things like this (or statues and the like), I typically see a group of guys. It would be nice to see more women get involved in this sort of thing. While I don't believe women were intentionally excluded, I hope the day comes when we see more women sculptors, designers, and artists and so on in the field... I sincerely believe the hobby will never reach its true potential until more women enter the fray.

I can't wait to see the finished pics. If it's less than $3k, then I'll probably get one. The biggest issue is finding a space to display it. I'll probably buy a nice table or pedastal to put it on, and get a huge acrylic cover for it.

MR had a "meet & greet" with some Rebelsum forum members at their offices a few weeks ago. The news about the Falcon is that it will ship by the end of this year. It's due to go up for pre-order soon apparently. We'll see about that though. No talk of a price point yet.

I sure hope they come up with some sort of payment plan for this!

ResinDog

Payment plan and "free international shipping" like Sideshow did for the Predator Maquette would :buttrock:

I don't even dare to think what the international shipping charges will be for this!

A payment plan would be a big, big, big deciding factor for me. It would really help to spread the payments out rather then dropping 2k (or whatever it might cost) for this all at once.

If you're willing to pay cover price, can't you just order it through your local comic store or something? I mean, they won't charge you shipping just retail. I think there are numerous Fobidden Planets in the UK. I'm fairly certain they will order a few. The one in London is massive!

Why pay shipping if you don't have to?
Am I missing something?

It will be interesting to see the final paint, and if there is the possibility of it being lighted. Or will it be an outside source that will offer a lighting kit. Also I wonder if they factor in that some will want to hang them since it looks pretty heavy.

Guys,

It IS going to be lighted!
The engine lights, c0ckpit lights and "headlights" will all be functional. The c0ckpit alone looks AWESOME! I love that they've recreated the full size studio set and incorporated it into this miniature. It's a bit of artistic license because the real ILM miniature Falcon didn't have a detailed c0ckpit that matched the studio set. However, in this instance, I think they made the right choice! I can't wait to get this!!!

Chris

I wonder how the heck will this be packaged, and will people need to take their door off the hinge to get it inside. Or the doorbell rings, and one see's 15 boxes with some assembly required labeled on them. LoL

Is everyone going to wait and look at the ebay/retailer market or is everyone who's grabbing the MR purchase immediately??

Somehow, I think the MR, despite the hype, will sell as slow as the SE AT-AT due to its price tag..

Depends if Mr. Ford signs it (unlikely). If he does, expect them to sell out in no time, no matter what the price. Every ebay flipper in town will see them as gold mines.

Without the siggy, the high price and huge amount of wall space required will put the brakes on sales.

I hear through the dealer grapevine that interest in the Y-Wing has been less than spectacular, so I would expect MR to try and make the Falcon as irresistible as possible. And of course it will be their flagship piece for some time to come.

I wonder in regards to having them signed. All Mr. Ford has to do is take an hour out of his day to sign the plates. I assume it is about the $, but still there can not be that many plates to where it could be considered an inconvenience.

Well last I heard he was still annoyed about the merchandising that followed the first movies, and the fact that he got nothing for it. Still bugs him even now, apparently.

Having said that, the claim of HF signed editions must have had some substance to it, so who knows what deal might have been cut? I guess we'll wait and see...

Hey Weasel. It's NOT 5 foot long. You're confusing the scale with the large Falcon that was built for Star Wars.

Master Replicas are basing their replica on the 3 foot long version that was built for The Empire Strikes Back. The diameter of the main hull is 2 feet and the total length measured front to back is 3 feet.

It's still big, but NOT as big as you were suggesting. Hope that puts your mind at ease!
