Reminds me of a trip I took to Peru. I went to a Pisco distillery and when checking out the vats of fermenting booze, you wouldn't believe what was floating around in them. .. and it wasn't agave worms, either!

They were huge concrete sisterns (sp?) out in the sun. They had rats, birds, and exotic bugs that I've never seen in my life just bubbling around in them! The gal I was with on the trip passed out when she saw them.

I understand this was practiced quite a bit way back when, especially at sea. Stick the bodies in barrels of liquor to preserve them for a decent burial back home. And the barrels were a bit lighter when the ship reached port, so it was thought that the body must not have interfered with, and maybe even enhanced, the taste of the liquor. Something similar to this was touched on in Guillermo del Toro's The Devil's Backbone, which is a particularly bad-ass movie.

Thats pretty gross!! I remember my grandfather was drinking a canned Bud and realized there was a mouse in there. He drank bottled Coors after that.
