Rick my man...these are beautifully done.

LOL! I'll say it too...it was me that asked if Rick would post them. Someone brought up LOTR repaints in a Bowen thread that had me thinking about these that Rick had done. I'm not sure how many of you have been to his site, but I thought you all would get a kick out of seeing them outside of the factory paint.

They are simply amazing pieces to me. The sculpts are wonderful and Ricks paint up just takes them over the top! Awesome work man!

The Gandalf the Grey is fantastic.
I have that mini bust and it is no where near as good looking as your repaint.
Nice work.

Awesome stuff. You interested in taking a stab at a Morgul Lord statue or a Theoden statue? And if so, how much would that run?

Why look for something you would like him to paint? Give him anything. Once he paints it, you'll LIKE it. The man is a god with a brush in his hand!!!!

so that's why they look so drab. I thought it was the lifeless expressions. Can you liven them up? I'll take another look at them now next time I take my kid to the comic shop. Maybe I can give you a project of repainting the group. :thumbs2: But I'll have to take a look at the sculpts, scale and character lineup.

RickDTM

Nexus - The sculpts themselves are great! A little nudging in the paint dept. is all they need to become really nice pieces IMHO. By liven them up, do you mean make the colors more true to the movie?

Hey Rick,

The few times I've looked at them they've always seemed kind of drab and washed out. It seemed as though a lot of pieces were simply rushed out to tie in with the movie. The hobbits, as I recall, look kind of vacuous and not true to to the movie. It could be the expressions or even the cut of the piece, but they seemed to be missing the sparkle. I'll take another look at them with my kids in the next couple of weeks and see if they look like they'd be worth getting. If so, I'll PM you about a quote.

Nexus - Ahhhh gotcha. I understand now.
