When shopping for my digicam, I found the following 2 websites very helpful:

1. Steve's Digicams (http://www.steves-digicams.com/) - Check out his recommendations for "Best Cameras" (I am not Steve)

2. dpreview (http://www.dpreview.com/)

I think digital SLRs have become quite reasonable now.

Mine's a bit old, but I LOVE it, it's a Canon S45. That line of cameras is quite sturdy, reliable, good battery life, good quality. I love it.

It's also a SONY, not a Nikon. I've owned several Cybershots including the DSC-707, DSC-717 and the DSC-V1. I've enjoyed them all. The Carl Zeiss lenses are outstanding.

Well,

Do you want a point and shoot or a SLR camera?

I'm going to tip my hat in for Canon if you consider a Point-and-shoot. I have the canon Powershot A530 and have absolutely no complaints!

If you do decide to go with a Digital SLR - check out the Nikon D70.

I am thinkin on goin with the bit older Minolta Dimage Z6 seems to have everything I am looking for and it has all kinds of extra lenses you can get not a full DSLR but close and not bad for the pricing 200-300 for a new in the box one, not lookin for pro stuff I have my canon 35 mm if I wanna drag that out just something better than my dig I have now
