Regardless....from a business standpoint I don't think it would look very favorable (especially on SF members) to simply cancel your order at the first sign of a price drop or the possibility that you may not be able to flip the piece.

I support supporting Drod... but just couldn't wait with uncertainty if he was going to carry it or not... and if he carries it... will his price be lower? Too much of a risk I think... sorry Drod...

Yeah, I got it pretty good with the owner. I get 10% over cost on all statues & busts. Works out really well 99% of the time. I got screwed once on the BD WHITE MOON KNIGHT FS because he was allocated and didn't receive any. I think the same thing might happen to this piece once people get wind of it. :peoples:

Well.. it is limited to 300... he is selling them on the site and it looks like he started at 300... it is now down to 220... I dont think Diamond is going to get much... so the likely hood of you getting one without ordering direct is slim... if you want it. I would get it via the website... and pay the extra 50 dollars...

...because the original Aphrodite commands more on the secondary market and the new sculpt strives to offer a completely different base.

I could see the Kabuki AP being sought after if the original statue looked more like regular bust.... but essentially the AP is exactly the same as the original statue with the exception of the crystals (and the low ES).

The edition run was never completed, so there are fewer statues out there than what is numbered under the base. I don't know how many were actually made, but I don't think there were that many.

In some online ordering systems... you can put in a number lets say the edition size to determine how many are left of that product... so if you go to the Ordering page and put in 300... it will send you and error saying unable to comply with request as there are only 211 available...

Your order number is most likely the number of orders they have processed through their online ordering system...

P.S. I tried this on Bowen's site... and it gave me 255 on each statue I tried...

$200 for a statue that size and in an edition of only 300 pieces is really not a lot of money - I was surprised it was so little!

I ordered both plus Invincible all signed. I was going to wait for an update on the Moore Statue Club for any future Moore pieces and place an order with comicstatues.com to support this site. The lack of any info has turned me off so I ordered direct.

Not trying to be contentious or anything, I just don't want any kind of appearance of malfeasance. Changing the edition size this late in is something that just wouldn't be done. I am glad you are glad to be getting one though.

Sorry but I am right, like I said check the fourth post in this thread it was solicited through Diamond as a 350 edition size and I have made posts to that effect in the past. Not trying to be contentious or anything, I just don't want any kind of appearance of malfeasance. Changing the edition size this late in is something that just wouldn't be done. The limit of 2 per person wasn't implemented until later. Anyone could have placed a giant order or Moore could pull stock for Diamond orders. It was up for grabs.

There was always a possibility of something like it happening since the countdown started at 300 which was the original edition size. The safe thing would be to order one direct and write off the difference in higher price as the cost of getting it signed and possibly getting a lower number than the SF Moore Statue Club allocations.

The only other product I know was that PVC figure Palisades made from the animated series... or something odf the sort but it didn't look anything like the comic book version.

It's Clay Moore we're talkin' about here. He's seemingly not as ambitious as Bowen and pretty much knocks out only 2-3 sculpts per year if that much. A recast of a hot item for him is a no-brainer!

It would be really cool to see a new one though, since there is so much beautiful reference material. IMO, instead of Invincible, time and effort should have been spent on the ladies only! Invincible is not such an interesting character and Clay does the gals so well. :buttrock:

That is awsome... everyone I have loaned my TPBs to have said it is one of the best series they have read in some time... I think it is the best book on the market... and Ryan Ottley (artist) is one of the nicest down to earth guys I have met...

I can only speak for myself so take it with a grain of salt and simply for what it is: my opinion.

I'm not a big Buffy fan in the first place (except Charisma Carpenter of course!) and find that the premium format statue to be a bit "boring" (lets face it I'm not into Buffy). Again I don't mean this offensivley because its extremely well done and beautifully executed. Very Biased opinion of course.

The other thing is that Buffy has a ton of product out there where as Aphrodite IX only has the two Moore statues - that's pretty much it.

I think the second is the bottom line really... and less biased! :D

I think, from my conversations with Clay, is that he doesn't like to do characters to death - over and over. I think once he does characher he likes to move on unless there is another version that he is interested in (School girl Witchblade).

This is just my speculation of course so there could be other reasons.

Personally I find Bowen sometimes re-makes characters too often and risks doing things to death: how many Wolverines do we really need?

Don get me wrong everyone has the right to do what they want of course with their company. I'm just offering my opinion from speculative observations... :D

I think Bowen and Clay are two totally different mindsets. From the interview Clay had, you could see he likes collaborating with the creators of the character and taking his time on each one. He doesn't want to do marvel or dc because of previous bad experiences.

I would love to have the 110 quantity explained. It seems a little unfair for 1/3 of the total stock to be bought by a single entity unless it was Diamond for distribution. I can't think of another company that would allow that.

Those were pulled for Diamond and direct accounts. Clay told me no one was allowed to buy more than two. The truth is they just sold alot faster than he expected, so they had to pull them when they did or risk over selling. In the interest of getting as many as possible to you guys direct though, he has decided to not pull comps from the regular edition. For those of you that aren't familiar, a certain percentage of every run is set aside and given to the licensor and other involved parties as part of every agreement. These are called comp pieces. Then licensor then gives them to whoever they see fit. In this case Clay is going to give out preproduction samples instead of comps so an extra 20-25 of you could buy the piece. Of course this means that in time 20-25 pre-production samples will hit the secondary market, and they will probably be very sought after. It wasn't done for that reason though, Clay just wanted to make sure as many people as possible got a chance to buy one. He knew that lots of people were going to be left out and wanted to do everything he could to accomodate as many fans as possible.

EDIT-Just to clarify, there will not be another 20-25 put up on the site. Clay already sold through those pieces instead of pulling them back for Top Cow. Sorry if some of you misinterpretted that.

These questions are a bit out of my realm. Almost any comic shop orders through Diamond, so I would just contact your LCS and let them know you would like to get one, though allocations are likely to be a problem.
As far as which retailers order direct from Clay, I really don't know. I would ask any of the sites you order through if they are expecting to get any. I would think Clay couldn't divulge his clients ordering information, so you would just have to ask people that might be. And if they aren't they can always contact CS Moore and talk to them about ordering direct in the future.

Yes, my total showed zero dollars as well, but I have a order #. It may be that he just popped the thing up there, and didn't get everything just right. I have a confirmation email with the order number, but still no price.
