So what do people think? I've ordered it and am having Clay sign it.

Only thing I don't like are the two photo frames. They seem out of place. Izzat her and the boss lady from the comic?

I agree with the frames, also the elaborate base takes a bit away from the legs, which are wonderful (yehyeh legman here :) ), other than that it is something I will treasure.

btw thanks to moon_knight for starting the thread and comicbkguy for the links ;)

I posted a picture of my regular edition. Looks like there are slight differences in the paintups too.

Its a very cool statue no doubt.

I have a problem with the butt though. I was hoping it would be much more round.

Like in the pic.

It’s not based on that art, but it would be very cool if Clay did something like this. There are tons of A IX cover art he could’ve done for another A IX, but I’m sure he was going for a quick buck in knocking this sculpt out without having to do a completely new and different one.

You are probably right. Clay could have customized the butt bigger and rounder. Im sure he could have done that. Its still a cool sculpt though.

Wonder if I could contact CS Moore Studios about getting a spare base. I bet they keep 'em on hand as replacements for damaged ones. :inquisiti

Glad everybody was able to get in. I also missed out the 1st time around so I know it sucks....

On a different note, is their going to be a SF exclusive variant or will C.MOORE just allocate 50 - 100 of the APs for the forum? :peoples:

I really like the sculpt... I dont like the base... like others have said... The picture frames look out of place... I dont mind the big circle thing... or the other grey parts... I would like an original base... but done think that is going to happen... would be sweet if they shipped with both versions of the base though...

I missed out on the original one, this piece is a must get for me. This piece is just asa good as the original.

Man it sounds like a lot of you cats missed the original addition... I must be one of the few fellas who only paid original cost...

I think it's great that Clay releases these artist proffs. He intended to do this a loooong time ago but that's when all of the changes hit for him and his company.

I would be interested in seeing the two side by side for comparisons in paint. The thing you guys have to understand is this. With Clay an AP is truly that. Not just some pieces that is the exact same without a number, etc... Clay feels that there should be something special about an AP...

Cheers to all of you getting one.

There do seem to be some subtle paint differences, mainly the boots and gloves from what I can see. But you could chalk that up to being the painted master. The masters are always different. I also agree with Dawg about "With Clay an AP is truly that. Not just some pieces that is the exact same without a number, etc... Clay feels that there should be something special about an AP..." and because of this IMO Clay is truely a fan friendly sculptor.

This AP seems just as nice as the original. However, I think both statues rate pretty high on the "fan service" meter. I prefer Moore statues such as the new Kabuki and the Frazetta Barbarian because, in my opinion, they are classier.

I can't afford it either but plopped down $20 bucks for the preorder. I just gotta have this one since I missed the first and I do like the base as well!

IMO, it looks great. I've never seen it in person but when I read it is about 15 1/2" I was in. I missed the first one and I didn't want to miss out on this one. Comparing the bases, the second one looks better. :buttrock:

To me the frames should of been optional if you want them on go ahead and glue/snap them on. When it comes to the images on the frames to me one should of been reproduction of the original art used to form this sculpture, and the other maybe a original sketch (Probably to small though).

I absolutely love this piece but imo, this base somewhat distracts the attention from the actual statue.
The base in the first one was very "simple" so when you get a look at Aphrodite nothing is distracting you from those wonderful legs! :eplus2:

i want the original base, but i prefer this paint job.

ComputerFly

Yes, I also like the paint work on the costume, however I hate the orange, shiny glow to the skin. That is one thing I really dislike on my Kabuki statue, the skin is FAR too orange. This was noted by others in the Kabuki thread here on SF. This skin paint-up on this AIX looks even worse, not to mention it's too glossy/shiny. The original looks MUCH better. Clay, if you're reading this, PLEASE get the painter to use a more realistic skin tone, before allowing this thing to go to paint overseas.

My 2 cents.

I don't really like the base on the newie, too distracting from the lady herself.
That said I'll still probably try to get hold of one upon release, since I know I'll never get the original if the current ebay prices stay the same or go any higher
