Sorry if I'm a bit late. I was away on vacation when the new sneaks released.

Is there anyone else concerned that the hands on the Mandarin MB obscure the face? I would prefer it if the hands were positioned slightly lower. I can't help but feel the face will be obscured unless you position the bust on a lower shelf or turn the bust slightly sideways.

I made this comment in a different thread, but thought it might be better to start a new thread to gather opinions. What do you think?

Not to mention that the fore arms are too long and too thin.

In so far as the position of the head is concerned, I had the same problem with Attuma and I learned my lesson with him. As much as I want a Mandarin, if the angle of the head isn't changed, I'll be passin on Mandarin.

I really like it, I like the position of the arms. It kinda draws you in to take a closer look.
I think this statue needs to be displayed without a lot of other statues close to it to really be appreciated.

It looks like if you put a lot of busts close by it will just get lost within the masses.

I mentioned that as well. It's killing the sculpt. Just like Warlock being impaled on the tip of his base. :confused2

I said the same in another thread also. I thought the face was obstructed by where the hands are positioned.

You're right on target!
I couldn't have said it better if I was shaved, bound, gagged and thrown in the trunk of an 88 Oldsmobile.

I had a 1980 delta 88 olds and you could fit 5 bodies in that trunk. :confused2

As I said in a previous post, I like the pose.

Jesse's points on the bust's various deficiencies (fingers, forearms, sleeves) are all valid, and I hope they can be addressed before this goes into production, but as far as the major points of the costume/era choice and pose, I'm definately on board. We've all seen far too many Bowen busts with their fists clenched, this is a nice variation. It gives Mandy that wonderfully contemplative evil aura that just drips malice. :)

I like it. It certainly fits the character. With the head lowered, he looks like he's plotting against Iron Man, and you get to see all the rings. :thumbs2:

I think that the attention that the scuptor was shooting for was supposed to be on the rings of the Mandarin. Granted, I agree with Jesse on the points about the fingers and arms. I like the pose, and with some touches here and there, I think it will be great.

I agree but Jesse brings up some good points ... lets jope for some clean up prior to production

Guy's lets clear something up here ... I've got no problems with the pose per say, the concept for the piece is great.

But with just a few tweeks (widening the stance of the elbows, lowering the hands for a clear view of the face, fixing the fingers and connecting the finger-tips and tilting the head upward a bit) would go a LONG way to making it even better.

Well, if ya'll don't mind I'm gonna throw in my .02 cents. I like the sculpt/design. It makes him ''appear'' menacing. I do however agree with every single point Jesse makes. It ( the sneak peek picture ) looks very ''sloppy''. But, we have all seen ''bad'' pics and when released the finished product looks killer. Here's hoping that WILL apply here. But, from a selfish side really glad he's done so that *hopefully*TIGERSHARK, MAN-APE, or another character that I'm really wanting can get done. I will buy the MANDARIN mb, just not a ''fan'' of him though.

I just wish that the rings had a little more detail. But maybe it is the pics.

to me my board!

I think Jesse's right on all counts here - it may seem nitpicky but if these were corrected (especially with hands being rested lower) this would make for a much better bust.

Personally I like the hands where they are, with just his eyes menacingly looking over them. I am looking forward to this one...

I'm not particularly fond of the costume that was used, looks like Ming the Merciless. It's the classic version and I understand that, either way I'll buy it.

MUST HAVE THEM ALL!
