once again usa crumbles in international play..the dream team days are over. a bronze is the best they can win.. i think they need to focus on team play more, they should grab more college players who haven t been corrupted by the streetball style of the NEW nba.its a dissapointment though because they were playing prettty well

Basketball has become a World Sport now... pretty soon you will see us doing as good in Basketball as we do in Soceer... Well alright... maybe not to that extreme but the days of Basketball dominance is over...

i do think dominance is over, but i still think that usa will consistently be a perennial favorite. they just seem to be more committed towards dunking and posterizing people. they have to get back to fundamentals. greece beat them by just using high screens to a shooter.. i truly think that if they keep this core team together and just add some more complimentary players (like battier, bowen and what not) they will win most international games. coach k knows what needs to be done..i wish the nba players would take some pride in playing for their country .. that to me is the greatest honor in sports and i think they need to embrace that.

Yeah but Paul Pierce is Gutless. For a great outside shooter his game always falls apart when he cant get his shots on the outside

well, NBA players TODAY as opposed to the days of the true DREAM TEAM, are all a bunch of street ball playing ball-hogs that totally lack fundamentals, and a sense of teamwork. They'd rather get 20 points, not 20 assists!

the NBA is a joke!

I agree completely... a team of Jordan, Bird, Johnson, Laetner, Pippen, Barkley, Stockton, Malone could probably still take on the world... these guys played as a team... and acted as a team... They were the one and only dream team...

I agree 100%. It's not even a team sport anymore. All any of today's players care about, is making ESPN highlights and money. I don't watch one minute of that crap. I can catch the slam-dunk competition during the all-star break. It's basically like today's NBA game. USA needs to build a team based on skills built for the international game. Forget star-power, bring in guys who are fundamentally sound, and can function as a team.

I couldn't agree more. Our polictians should take notice. If they would spend more time working together, instead of focusing on their own petty legacy, this country would be far better off.

International teams has been training and playing together for years not just months. NBA players are preparing for months not years.

what gets me about baseball, is that all the players from the different countries go play for another country during the olympics or whatever

yea i guess because there are only so many roster spots on the usa team. i think if you have a connection to the country through your parents you can play for them. like piazza can play for italy. i think but as usual wtf do i know lol

China is a very good example. Most of the players are committed and training together for years. Even Coach K have said something about China. Sooner or later they will be better and will contend.

Training and commitment with less ego is the key. That doesnt look lame to me.

Guys what I meant was lame and maybe I misinterpreted what DB was trying to say was that the other teams had trained & played together for years, As in that was what the other nations players were only worried about for years leading up to the world championships, That actually making a living of the sport was not their primary goal in their day to day life’s, If that isn’t what you were saying then I apologize DB. :thumbs2:

For the record the problem with American basketball is the NBA, the sooner they stop allowing players to travel, carry the ball, and push and shove like they are in the front row of a rugby scrum the sooner the USA will get their #1 ranking back

nah i totally get what you were saying, i just meant that they played together before, especially as teens and that they have a much better chemistry than the nba players will ever have. i def. think that there goal was to earn a paycheck but they had the added advantage of not being corrupted by the nba style of play. and practices for that matter(remember A I's rant). and you are right on about the nba's poor style of play. its become an brutish &ugly game. it used to be finesse now its just streetball
