This is a shout out to the vast talent of statueforum. Here's the skinny: I'm in the middle of a major overhaul of a lot of the pieces on my site which are old and no longer indicative of my current skill. I have made significant tweaks to an old pic, however I ended up making two versions:

One with harsh light and highlighting:

And one without:

Each have their own pros and cons and if anyone has any feedback or critique on either of them in general then by all means. My question is which one do you guys believe is stronger and why? I personally prefer the one with the harsh lighting, but please, any feedback will be much appreciated.

Very nice. I actually prefer the one without the harsh lighting.

Nice!!! Both look great, Maybe harshlight, but not as harsh on the face.

I like the second one better. There's more contrast in it that makes it stand out more.

Alrighty, I've started making major revisions to this piece. First order of business in making this piece everything it can be: I've decided to give bats his gauntlets, therefore making his mask the last thing he'd have to put on (which would make more dramatic sense)

They aren't finished obviously. They only have the first level of detail and the basic concept I'm shooting for. Crits, feedback, or approval more then welcome.

Another gauntlet color test. I'm thinking of ditching the engraved pattern all together and just going with the flat glossy metallic look. Finished version will have the three spikes and will look a bit more worn. Plus, I made some minor tweaks to the face that were bothering me. He'll have eyes eventually. Constructive critique more then welcome.

I like it, except for his eyes. Are they open? Closed? It looks like he has 2 black eyes.

:) He has none yet.

I like watching the development of this piece. Originally, I like both but actually preferred the highlighted one. But, I really like the development you have shown.
I saw the sketch on your site. Is the product being shown a commission piece?
But, I liked the bare hands putting on the cowl. As someone who has put on various helmets, in work and leisure, you always put the gloves on last.

Hehe, thank you for supporting my original idea of having the gloves going on last. No this isn't for commission, strictly a portfolio piece. Plus, here's the latest progress:

(might show up a tad dark on some screens)

Yeah, right now, it's just a simple picture of a younger Bruce Wayne. I was thinking of jazzing it up with a background and some ambient lighting coming from above and below. But anyway, crits welcome on what I have so far...thanks!

I liked it better with the more 'mature' face.
