</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> Legendary fantasy illustrator William Stout teams with the artisans of ReelArt Studios to present the first of many collaborations, William Stout's Number One.
Inspired by the classic Edgar Rice Burroughs novel “The Monster Men,” Number One depicts a scene from the story. The artwork was originally published as the cover to a British comic book anthology titled “A-1.”
Sharp-eyed collectors may notice that the color of the dress worn by the damsel in distress differs from the box art and the prototype photos. In earlier pictures, her dress was a much paler shade of orange.
According to ReelArt's Michael Hudson, artist William Stout decided on a paint change after viewing the prototype on display at this year's Comic Con in San Diego. Stout opted for a darker shade of orange to provide better contrast to color of the woman's exposed skin. At the time the change was dictated, the promotional art was already in circulation and the factory had already produced the packaging.
So, to all of you detail-obsessed fans out there, this color shift is not an error. The artist who created and owns the image ordered a tweak to the production piece, and the tweak was implemented.
Sculpted by ReelArt regular Shawn Nagle, Number One is offered in an extremely limited edition of only 250 units, so run to your favorite character statue retailer to snag yours before they're gone!
ReelArt Studios creations are exclusively offered to the specialty market through Dark Horse Comics.

Thanks dude! Aside from losing all of our computers due to an electrical storm we lost a lot of our backed up art files. Thank God we recovered most.
Shortly after that we had to relocate our Florida studio and you can imagine how difficult a business move can be especially when it involves tons of comic books, research books and collectibles. Yes we collect select pieces from other companies!

Where exactly is this available?
I can't even find it for sale on the Reel Art's hompage?
Correct me if I'm wrong but so far only this piece and Snow Giants are preorderable right? How about Frank Cho's Babe on Ape? I assume they're still working on Silver Warrior and the Egyptian Queen from their Frazetta series.
Thanks for the update.

Hi Dennis,
Like Rafter stated this piece and all current products available are offered on the ReelArt Studios web site on the SHOP page. All of our product are also currently being offered in the Nov. of Diamond's PREVIEWS magazine and are available at your LCS. The products are listed under the Dark Horse section as all of our products are since our joining forces with them in May of this year.
Now about Babe & Ape. I just spoke to Frank Cho yesterday and we will ahve the piece on the market either the first or second quarter of 2007.
We have a backlog of products ready for overseas production but we can only move as fast as money comes in. (hint, hint) LOL
Egyptian Queen Finally left molding/casting this week and should now be with the great Rick Cantu, waiting on his masterful paints. Hopefully we will have updates (pics) soon, eh Rick?
RE Silver Warrier (Tony Cipriano) and The Hunterss (Mike Petryszak) they are in the sculpting stages and our plans are to show these produts to Frank early next year. After that we will show you here.
As for our web site...it is in need of updating and that is my fault. I plan to get it done soon. It been a tough couple of months with various things but we are busy as ever.
Thanks for your questions and don't be a stranger

Hey Pixar,
If you read the original post today which is from SCOOP it explains why the color of the dress is different. I wanted everybody to know that it was not an error on our part but a last minute change by the artist, William Stout. We had matched the original art as you see in the first pics you've shown but when Bill saw the piece "live" at this years Comic Con he made a last minute change which makes the dress stand out more from the skin color. It was a good decision but the box art had already been completed and we had sent out a lot of advertising with the original colors. He is the boss and we had to comply. I hope it doesn't pose a problem to you or anyone else.

...hey that is a good thing! ReelArt Studios has promised our retailers that we will not undercut them as some studios do. They don't like that and I don't blame them. If we undercut them they would have no incentive to carry our products.
I don't care where you get our products, I'm just grateful that you care to get them. We want you to be happy with whatever you get from us. That is the main thing!

Yo Pixar,
Here are a bunch of shots of the revised edition from an article in Toy Shop magazine. It has two good pics of the splash and a good picture of the art box too.

My Number One just arrived about an hour ago. Number 5 out of 250. A beautiful statue. I think I prefer the darker paint on the statue opposed to the box art. It does bring out the skin tones better. Thank you Michael for your help. Looking forward to Going Ape arriving on Wednesday!
