I think this one is the actual bronze.
They also have the painted one up for auction.

Hard to believe they actually did 500 of the bronze......
Seems really high for a production bronze.

Anybody know what it retailed initially for? Anybody have one of these?

Very nice, and within a 100 miles of it's new home.

Yeah, great statue but I own the regular version and I think it looks better..

My custom painted Rocketeer, is the pride of my collection. Kent Melton's sculpts are priceless.

I just couldn't pass up the chance to own the bronze edition. Although it was licensed for 500 pieces, only 35 were actually produced.

I picked up the bronze statue tonight. It's very nice and it still hasn't set in that I own it. It has been my "GRAIL" since I started collecting.

Besides the price... here are the differences that I noticed from the cold-cast porcelain statue:

The bronze statue comes with a cultured marble base. (Apricot in color.)

The bronze is 14 1/4 inches tall, and the cold-cast is 14 9/16 inches tall. This is because the head of the cold-cast statue was cast separately and when assembled, more of the neck is exposed.

The cold cast statue has a lump on the center of the chest, just above the flap. The bronze does not. (I'm not sure if this is typical of the cold-cast statue or just a defect on my piece.)

The fine details of the throttle are missing on the bronze statue. The ignition and accelerator buttons in his hands are not distinguishable, because of the roughness of the sand casting. I had also noticed the difference in the detail when I received my BRONZE HELLBOY MUSEUM BUST. Although it is an excellent piece, the latex mold for the cold-cast version, picked up more details than the bronze. You can actually see Randy's fingerprints in the cold-cast version.

It's a great piece. Very heavy. Although they call it HOT-CAST BRONZE, it's got that COLD-METAL FEEL to it when you pick it up. Definitely noticeable, compared to the resin.

...Although it was licensed for 500 pieces, only 35 were actually produced.

Actually there were 50 of them made. I have a copy of the statue and it came with an amendment to the original certificate of authenticity. This amendment is signed by Scott Melton (Ken's son ?) and it states that the final number of produced hot casts was 50. Apparently the production costs were too high to target 500.

I have the same paperwork. White's Guide to Collecting Figures noted the 50, but stated actual production of 35 pieces. I wonder if the other 15 pieces were AP's.

Did it come painted or did you paint it?

I air brushed it, last summer. Dave Steven's signed it at SDCC 2004.
