I used to play with my sons..don't much anymore, nor do they.
It was good until it got too complex with cards and stuff. too many scenarios, etc.
But I still have 2-3 of the initial DC sets and my son has about 9-10 of the first marvel sets...all w/uniques too.

I used to love Marvel Overpower, we had to modify the rules a bit for our own liking but it was great until it got ridiculously involved and harder and harder to figure out. Still have tons of it though. Don't have much hero clix, wanted to play it but saw it going down the same road.

Very game and very well thought out. My friends and I played every week or so for a few months, but that was over 2 years ago.
You can quickly get a collection together so starting from nothing is not a big deal. I still have thousands of these guys.
PM me if you want some advice on where to buy.

I have over 500 heroclix and I'm embarrassed to say that I don't know how to play. I just like collecting and customizing the figures.

I, too, am an avid collector of the Heroclix, although I am a bit choosy about which booster packs/figures I'm interested in. The current batch, DC Origins, has some great figures (I got a Unique Mister Mind. That was cool-looking.) but there are some good ones in each line.
As for playing...if you buy one of the boxed sets that come with a pre-set number of figures, there's often a core rule book that will explain the basic premise of the rules. I agree with whoever said that the game has gotten complicated with the addition of cards and bystander tokens. But, if you want a fun board game, they're definitely something to look into. :)

Never played, and I also have hundred's of the little bugger's, all neat and clean, in those plastic boxes from the craftshop.
They were really cool for awhile then they got to crazy for me to keep up with, cut back to only Marvel set's, now I don't know were I'm at with them.
I only ever kept one of each sculpt in the beginning, now there seem's to be a different paintup and slight change to quite a few of them.
To sell or keep that is the queston now?

My son started collecting these a couple of years ago. First, he started collecting only Fantastic Four related figures to display, and then he wanted the same figures that I had statues of. Now he has over 500 figures! Now that he is learning to count (he’s only 5 years old), I purchased a starter set and we play a game at least once a week. He enjoys going to heroclix tournaments every week at a LCS and meeting other people who also enjoy talking about comic book characters.
It doesn’t cost much to start playing; a starter set that includes everything you need to play is only $15. Also, on eBay you can find many good deals on large lots.

I used to play it once or twice a month in LCS tournaments, and it was a lot of fun until it got too involved with the combination of cards and "mission" type scenarios and such, like CompEng1 said.
It's also pretty expensive to maintain, unless you go the ebay route. The biggest problem I had (which I dont blame Wizkids for doing, since it makes good business sense), is that the new figures just got better and better, making the older ones obsolete. Makes you keep buying, and at 6-8 bucks a booster, it takes a toll.
Couldn't afford to keep going and keep reading comics, so comics prevailed. Fun game though.

Iron Lad, Patriot, Hulkling and Stature (she's the daughter of the dead Ant-Man). Besides those four, other team members include the female Hawkeye (which Alex said may be rare) and Wiccan. :)
The only other Young Avenger is the new Vision, which HeroClix may not have made. The new Vision is actually the armor of Iron Lad (who is a young Kang) imprinted with the Vision code. Couldn't be simplier! Yeah, right!

Well, I finally got my first batch of the new "Avengers" heroclix in and I have to say for the first time that I am not too impressed and I'm even a little disappointed. The sculpts aren't too great looking, but most of all I noticed that the size of the figures are alot smaller and they used a different kind of plastic in making them and the figures are much more flimsy and soft and bend ALOT more easily than before. I do like the sculpts of Dragonman, Ironman, Red Skull, Taskmaster, Vision, Hulking, Wasp, and Gargoyle. Any figures that are fliers have very thin legs and ankles and move/bend at the slightest touch. Has anyone else noticed any changes?

Hey Neil...nice collection!
Thanks! I got the DST Sinister Six Mysterio just this week, so my Mysteriopalooza
has expanded into a second shelf. I also got the little green mist Mysterio on the
second shelf, too. (by the way, the light is not as hot and bright as it looks.
I had to overexpose with the camera a bit to make the second shelf show up more)

Yeah, like I said I bought a whole brick becuase I wanted the mail away figure. I got pretty much everyone I wanted except for maybe Zatana and Batzarro, but I'll pick them up later. :) As for the extras I already have a few people lined up for them but I'll keep you informed. :thumbs2:

I'm about to buy the Deadman hardback collection from Neal Adams' Web site. It's hard to remember for certain because it was so long ago, but I believe I was reading Neal Adams' Deadman comics before I was reading Spider-Man comics. I loved them! But I haven't read one in more than 30 years.
Anyway, thanks again, Rogue! :thumbs2:

A brick is 10 booster packs wrapped up, and when you buy them from a store it comes with the certificate to get the mail-away heroclix. So I'll wind up with 20 boosters.:D

Sure, but its worth to me when I pull the rares and super rares I want and not have had to pay a fortune for them individually. Like the Red Armor spider-man I pulled, I've seen him go for $40. Plus I will sell or trade the extras I get so it works out. :thumbs2:

I love collecting and playing.
I gave up being a Bowen Busts collector after the BC FRN fiasco and decided to give all my money to WizKids for Heroclix instead.
The sad thing is that I live somewhere there are no comic stores/venues or any gaming activity, so I don't have any fellow playes to meet up with which also means no tournaments or LE's. I think the nearest place would be a couple of hours drive or a little less, so I envy those who have these venues on their doorsteps.
Anyone who has never played this game should find a venue and have a demo, better yet go to an official New Guy Night and get a free LE figure and have some fun.
Admittedly, it's is not a simple game to learn but you can certainly start out with the quick rules and learn as you go along. Usually losing is the best way to learn!

I used to only collect only just for the love of all the variety of characters for the first couple of years Heroclix came out, but never having been into gaming of any type I started to become curious about the game, so eventually I built up the courage to get in touch with someone on a forum who played at tournament not too far from me.
I went to this guys home a few hours before a tournament for a crash course in Heroclix and next thing I knew I was at tournament playing 3 rounds of swiss. Most of the guys there were great and gave helpfull tips and I went home with the fellowship prise which was from the Ultimates set the LE Maxwell Dillion (Electro).
I had a great time and really enjoyed te game and started to play regularly and have been hooked ever since. When you learn to play it make the collecting expereience even better as you also take an interest in the powers and the combinations of power just enhance the experience and before you know it you will spend much time thinking up unbeatable teams using a paticlar strategy.
Seriously you guy's should have a few games at a venue, I would not be surprised if you get hooked!

I can tell you from experience that the bigger payout is going to a convention like Gen Con or Wizard World Chicago and playing clix. Those Battle Royals are a lot of fun, and you can build up a quick collection of whatever the newest set is. I've been taking my 10 year old son the past few years and he has a blast playing. I would say the majority of players are helpful to newcomers, and will make you feel at home.

My son and I play every Sunday at a local comic book store about 10 minutes drive from our house. Usually 6-10 guys show up to play, however today being New Guy Day it was very crowded. We picked up a couple of packs of the new set, Mutations and Monsters and were pleased with what we got or were able to trade. I got the original X-Men, Green Scar and Devil Dinosaur and my son got everything he wanted except for Omega Red and Apocalypse.
We also like to host a game night at our place every few months and have everyone play on a large map. This is always a lot of fun.

The same here, apart from those I met playing Heroclix at my old venue. If you get involved, before you know it you will make some new friends into Heroclix and comics etc and if they live in your locality you may end up playing around each others homes outside of tournaments at venues. I've had some fun going to others and having them come to mine for the day. Alas, it has come to an end for me where I live now and I really miss it.
Venues are having thier New Guy Nights around now so hurry up and you will get yourself a Dark Beast figure. If you don't know anyone just get in touch with you local comic stores and explain you want to try the game out etc and I'm sure they will put you in touch with their Heroclix Envoy or point you in the right direction. You can look up local venues on the Wizkids webstie also and they will have contact emails for their envoy. so you can email them.
Just do it and don't worry about not knowing anyone or going along on your own. I:thumbs2: did it!

Like I said, I have no venues or fellow players anywhere near me here in Spain so I can't get my hands on the Rampaging Hulk, otherwise I would be dragging strangers of the street to get one and have a few games in the process.:)

Thanks for the tip. I gave my local comic shop a call and they gave me a schedule of events. I'll see if I can make it to any of them.

Glad to hear this:thumbs2: , I hope you get to one soon and if so, let us know how it went and what team you played etc... Hopefully you will get to pick up a NGN Rampaging Hulk. I need to get one of them myself but no chance over here plus I want all the M&M LE figures and cards.:bawling:

Man, I love this new set. It got me back into the game for the first time since the original set. I've got my hands on a few of the super-rares (Apocalypse, Hulkbuster, Silver Savage, Storm, Zombie Iron Man).
There's just a ton of characters that I was really happy to see represented, considering that they don't get much product made of them (X-23, Omega Red, Shatterstar, Maverick, Black Tom, High Evolutionary). Now I can put together a Weapon X Special Forces team, made up of people like Wolverine, Sabretooth, Maverick and Deadpool.
Wrecker, in case you were wondering, is one of the last, if not the last, member of the Wrecking Crew needed to have the full team. I believe everyone else was done in previous sets.

Wrecker has been done before, in the Ultimates set.

Sorry for the less than perfect picture quality. Was trying to get close to the Hulk, but my results weren't so good.
We had a good event. Eight players showed, did a 4 vs. 4, then when one team was eliminated it was a free-for-all. My ten year old son won (his first tourney win) with some AMAZING die rolls. Devil Dinosaur was his key piece. It didn't hurt that the guys with Apocalypse and High Evolutionary pounded on each other.

I forget what they were called but this Hulk and Thing were in the same series a few years back. You can wind Hulk up and he kind of teeter-totters forward and his head rocks back and forth. It's one of my favorite things on my desk! The Thing walks forward and beats his fists together. There were also a Spidey and Wolverine in this toy series, if I remember correctly. :)

Yes, a good question. What kind of camera are you using? I'm in desperate need of a new one. I just finished painting a Death Dealer & 2 Redemption Spawn's heroclix, but my pics are horrible. My camera is useless. :(

I use a Sony Cyber-shot 5.1 megapixel camera with MPEG movie, smart zoom and a Carl Zeiss lense. (DSC-W1, if that helps any). I've had it about four years now and it's one of the best buys I've ever made, because I use it all the time. :) I also bought a tripod to use with it for available-light shots. Sometimes, I would like to get closer to what I'm shooting, but this camera works plenty well enough for me. :)

SN Zombie Spider-Man
AV Heralds
JL Starro (Yeh!)

We had 8 people show up Friday night at the venue I judge at. Two new guys, and two that haven't show in many months. We decided we're going to try and have one big battle royal (everyone vs everyone) each month.
One of my favorite scenarios we haven't done in ahwile is attack of the Sentinels. We put a couple of maps together with about 12-15 Sentinels. Then everyone breaks out their mutants and goes to town. I'll take pics next time!

Great, Colossal Sentinels are my favourate even though I don't get to play. I recently devised and 100 pt Sentinal Mercenary feat to X-Men Team for healing. Somone tested it out for me and did OK with it, as it helped with pushing an healing. Specific BFC really help also.

Put the number of miles within your zip code and search for a venue.
failing this many comic stores host tournaments or know someone who does or somewhere else.

No clix for Xmas this year. Our gaming group has it's last 2007 event tomorrow night. We're heading into the arena for one last mega battle. 500 points, 4 characters. They have to bring a character from the following designated "weight" classes: 1-50 points, 51-75 points, 76-150 points, and 151-225 points.
Can't wait to see which bruisers are brought.

My venue was participating in the Wizkids Convention weekend promotion yesterday. For every $10 spent you got to choose either a Dark Knight or Mighty Thor figure that were convention exclusives last summer. They had some other figures, but the Dark Knight is the one I've been waiting to track down.
We also got put in a raffle, which will allow you to buy purple pants Foom for $25, or get a free Johnny Thunder.
Anyone else been playing or picking up some good figs?

Anybody collecting these anymore? I picked up a few boosters of Secret Invasion yesterday and to be honest I'm not really impressed. :thumbsdow The quality of these seam to have taken a nosedive. Plus the price increase. I only pulled a few of the ones I wanted so I'll guess I'll go online to get the rest later but I'm glad I decided not to get a brick this time.
