If the bin men (garbage men) collect rubbish once a week, what do they do on the other six days?

I'd assume that "bin" day is different depending on where you live in the city. This lets them pick up the trash all week long.

There bust be times at say 5pm when they aren't collecting

They pickup trash 5 days a week each day has a different route.
