Checkmate...is this series worth getting?

Reason I ask is that in the next few months they are doing a cross-over with the Outsiders which I currently collect. So, I am just curious if any of you would recommend that I should pick up the back issues or tpb.

I held on till issue 8 then gave up. Boring.

Yeah, I dropped it after the 3rd issue. I guess it was a little to "real" for me.

I was thinking of buying the trade but was actually talked out of it by the LCS owner. When that happens, you know there's trouble.

Though I am interested in the original series. Could be a DC Showcase down the road...

Damn, did not realize it sucked that bad. I hope this does not damge any steam the Outsiders have going for them during this cross-over.

Wow! I really enjoy this book, but I'm apparently in the minority. It's very similar in tone to Rucka's Queen & Country, but with super powers. The latest issue delved into Fire's Brazillian upbringing, which was interesting to me. The book should mesh fairly well with Outsiders, since both series deal with taking proactive measures on a global scale against terrorist style super villains.

I recommend picking up the first trade or the latest issue.
