Hello everyone,

This is somthing I did this past summer, and since I'm a Noob to these here parts and, technically it is a statue, I thought I'd share it with y'all. This was a life size Gollum statue that was produced by Rubie's costume company. I stripped and repainted it for an article for Modeler's Resource magazine. I had a lot of fun with this thing! The sculpt was very well done, but the factory paint job was so-so. This was entirely hand painted - no airbrush. Take a peek and let me know what you think.

Sorry for the pic quality - Picture Trail seems to butcher my pics.

I'm taking another look because I just can't get enough and it's really amazing what you guys do. Phil the detail is just incredible. On the closeup of the face you've captured the textures incredibly and that ear even has the tiny veins. Keep the pics coming. Danno and Rick seem to be slacking a bit the last few days :D

I swear I saw this or at least one like it at the local Wal-mart promoting the DVD release of the Two Towers. I asked the manager where it came from / where I could get one and of course he was clueless.

Thanks, fellas!

Yeah, that statue is available all over (I got this one from AmokTime). They also make a life size Gollum bust (much more affordable) that is actually the same head and shoulders from the statue.

It would have killed me to see that go....

Yes, sadly, I did not get to keep this one. I would have loved to put it on the porch and scare the mailman.

Thanks, guys!

I spent about a month and a half on it (not sure how many hours, though). Stripping it took longer than painting it - WAY longer...
