M'kay, can't let this thread die like this, here to post some of my stuff:
I don't have any room to display them so they have to stay in the box till I get another detolf.

And sorry in advance for the bad photos, I mean really bad photos...

Gotta love the Popotan artist, his great interpretation of Lei and Asuka.

http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l54/riderV3/5e8aee2e6863.jpg

Shinobu and the Naru from Love Hina, awesome sculpt.

http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l54/riderV3/b82e1012dfb6.jpg

There're two Queen's Blade PVC in he stack, Iroha from Samurai Spirit and two little angle from you know what...
And there're Tendem Twin Sheep girls and the Leopard Girl, the cat one is on the other side and not in the photo.
A few statues have been covered by the stack you see in the pic.

http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l54/riderV3/d79fe5448d02.jpg

And I think most of you can recoganize this one.
This is the bath house in the Spirited Away. If you look closely, you can find a little balck figure on the bridge, the one with white mask in the movie, nice touch.
And there's the tarin on the bottom that's running under the bridge but you can't see it from this angle...

The BOME collection, got some more but have no place to hang them...

http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l54/riderV3/100_0097.jpg

There still are a lot I haven't covered but it's going to take too long to dig them out of stacks, so that's it for now!

Hope you guys like it.

That is a beautiful piece for sure but it never shown up on my dealer's website so I'll have to try my luck at the trip to Japan this year.

I'm a bit concern about the final product thought...Japanese usually have hard time capturing proper skin color on resin statues and the the overall quality is usualy unsatisfying.

It's a good chance to let you all know a little more about Japanese PVC and resin statues, so here we go.

A few common problems among Japanese resin statues are the cleanliness of the casts, the paint job on final products and overall QC.

The cleanliness of the casts has always been an issue. Quite a few of my anime resin statues have uneven bumps on thr surface, left over resin between hairs and fingers ect...And they're produced by renowned companies in Japan...

Paint job is another HUGE issue due to the large amount of production quantity.
It's about lacking the depth of color, definition and overall effect.

The Hair on resin statues are usually angled and lack of definition. And sometime you can even see webbings between hair and fingers...
The clean up job is usually very poorly done around the hair and finger area.

You can see from the pics GentleMidget provided, the first pic is a resin statue of the Ikki Tousen girl.
Observe the skin color carefully and then compare that with the Air Gear girl and the Mahoro on the bike statue.
The skin color on the Ikki Tousen girl appears to be pale, lack of depth and unnatural. Oppositely, the skin tone on Mahoro and Air Gear girl is very natural and life-like.

Also look at the hair, there're quite a few flaws on the Ikki Tousen statue as I mentioned, left over resin between hair lines and they didn't even cover up the seam. The hands/fingers region is bumpy and poorly done as well.

It's a fact that resin statues are dying out in Japan.
Not only PVC statues are durable, easier to clean, but they usually deliver much better effects than resin.
So rather complaining about PVC I personally feel it's a more appropriate matrial for anime statues.
Especially the delicacy of skin is beyond any America female collectibles.

At any rate, got an e-mail from my Japanese dealer said he just received 6 PVC statues I ordered, and he'll be ready to ship them out to me... that means I'm going to need some overtime...

I'd hate to disagree, but [at least my] Uncho is as perfect as can be and looks great. One of the best resin figures on the market.

Regarding the skintones, it's ALL lighting and nothing else in this case. I went for a colder lighting on the Uncho as you can clearly see on the color of the background, which is in fact the very same background i used for all shots. IRL, the Uncho's skintone is beautiful and well done.

I dislike most PVC anime figures because you can almost always see the seams where they attached the arms and legs to the rest of the body REALLY well and it makes it look incredibly cheap. If you're lucky, the sculpted clothing covers it up, but there are TONS of lightly dressed PVC anime ladies out there and they look terrible. Plus i like the heavier feel to resin ones.

Both resin and PVC have problems with certain areas, mostly stomach, armpits and around the insde of the thighs which stinks.

PVC figures also have that plasticky shine to them that i hate, but at least they're more durable but that doesn't make me prefer them over resin ones.

These types of mass produced figures need to improve in quality before i start collecting them again. That goes for both PVC and resin. Can't tell you how many of them i've had to send back due to unbelievably bad paint-apps with the figures looking like they had a seriously bad rash in places. No thank you.

You certainly have a lot of confidence in your little Uncho, are you?
That's cool! Your opinion is yours and mine is mine and I can see where you're coming form:thumbs2:
She'll probably get a B- by my standard, a good-looking anime statue.
Still far from Level-A statues but again, that's just my worhtless 2 cents.

I believe I've been rolling this this market longer and you all do and I'm looking at a big picture, not some exceptions.

I can care less about the seams since resin statues have them as well and most of them are no better than PVC.

As for the plasticky shine on PVC you mentioned, I don't see any of my PVC have that problem.
Yeah, some Gachapons are a bit plasticky but not PVCs.
Almost, I mean 90% of the current PVCs have awesome skin tone.
They spary a layer of non-reflective protective coating on the skin that makes the skin looks sumptuous and I've yet to see a better way to express the delicacy of female skin.

And there's this new material for PVC figures called PVC resin.
Since both resin and PVC are plastic product, Japanese came up with a way to harden the PVC to close-to-resin level but yet retains the durable chracteristic of PVC.
The surface of PVC resin is very well processed and non-reflective as well, so nothing plasticky shine about my PVC collection!:thumbs2:

If you're major on current anime PVCs, I have to tell ya you miss out the essence of PVC big time...
A good example is I was very tempted to collect Ikki Tousen statue lines(include resin statue lines) at first but it turns out to be another bummer...Way too many companies are making statues out of Ikki Tousen and I still cannot find a definite ver. of the characters...
And it's sad to see that's what America imported mostly, tons of Ikki Tousen PVCs...

The best PVCs among the market belongs to artist original lines, then some other artist-designed anime characters.
And if you have problem accepting the big o'l eyes anime style and all you like is Ikki Tousen, Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll or Samurai 7 type of anime, you still have a long way to go before you can truly enjoy Japanese anime statues.

I've been collecting anime statues long before PVCs joined the market and I witness the release of the first PVC statue by Kotobukia with a price tag of 2980 Yan...
Yujin has been putting out quality anime figures for a long time before THE PVCs invade the market. Their product lines are closer to big Gachapon that PVC statue, they represent the transitional era from Gacha to PVC.
Yujin still puts out quality figures occasionally but they're no longer the mojor licenses holder anymore.

So if you have problems with PVC quality, I have to say that's bad luck since it's a fact that PVC is surpassing the resin statue, popularity wise even quality wise.
And I personally NEVER have problems with ANY of my PVC statues from my Japanese dealer.

You probably just haven't meet the right one yet.

It's such a good statue though. I love anime girl statues :buttrock: . However, some can be very strange and pervert. As for me, I only have the original Kanu Unchou statue: http://www.animeinternational.com/store/images/statues/340831C.jpg

and three other GITS statues. One big Motoko statue, a Batou statue. And a small Motoko statue. It comes with the Batou statue. I'm also thinking of buying this one: http://www.statuetoys.com/ballisticsintrondepot3pvcstatuec113.html Anime statues are also cheaper than comic statues which is good.

Contains MazinKaiser figure, Hot Gimmicks game PVC and trading figures, Chichi no e plus PVC statue and the Witchblade PVC by Orchid Seed.

Still got 5 or 6 PVC in dealer's hand, will take care of that during the trip to Japan.

If anyone wants details shots, just let me know and I'll try.:)

What is everyone's opinion about PVC vs. Polystone/Resin? That is, most of the Japanese anime figures are available first as garage kits or resin statues, and then released as PVC/ABS statues. From the pictures I've seen, it is difficult to tell the difference at times! For the money, I'm going the PVC route... much cheaper, look great, and don't have to worry about breakage as much!

(Of course, I know most of you will say the resin statues are the only way to go, but just curious if anyone else is thinking like me...)

I saw this in an Anime store and bought it because I loved the sculpt. I'm not a die-hard fan, but did watch Tranzor Z on TV way back when. I would love a Grendizer statue too. :)

I decided I didn't like the Samuri Spirits MINA Statue next to my comic statues cause she was way bigger than the others so I moved here out.

You know, there's no number on the box or statue. I don't know how many were produced! This retailed for $200 when I bought it in a local anime store. I haven't followed this lately, but they came on ebay every once in awhile for retail or close to it. I also have seen it at SDCC the last couple years.

I really love this statue. You have to attach the arms, chest pieces, robot on the base, and the ship in Mazinger's head comes out too. Pretty cool :thumbs2:

Yeah, actually I have 3 of Tamaki, I wanted that one so bad I ordered from 2 different places just to be sure and got from both companies (2 and 1) so I have an extra. I also ordered 2 of the other version of her with the different face and lingerie. I get them fast cause I order everything direct from JAPAN instead of waiting for the US releases. As for the types I collect, they're ALL female! Unfortunately I have a breast fetish, the males I couldn't care less about.

This will be available in America soon, I got mine in Japan for 6000 yan which is about $55, figure it's not too bad a deal so bought it.

Sorry for the bad photo, just a quick shot with my ultra-lame cell phone camera...:(

It's an extremely well done bust, it's also the first time I'm so satisfied with the skin tone on a Japanese bust/statue.

Animeniac, that Asuka from the knees up bust is awesome. I had only seen the Rei.

Also, my little cousin ordered a kit of the Asuka on the wall a long time ago from eBay. He wanted me to paint it. It looked friggin awful. None of the pieces matched up right and there was flash EVERYWHERE! Yet another great reason not to support those recaster bums. It's a shame too, cause yours looks authentic and the piece is actually really good. I wish I was able to paint it.

My brother found those Asuka & Rei in a LCS for $30 each, a super steal...
Both were produced by Kaiyodo a LONG time ago.

That LCS is a chain store, the guy who checked the price for us was also surprised by how cheap they are and since he's not even the owner of the store, he just didn't care and sold the busts to us without any question.

We're lucky, he said the busts were reserved for someone but the guy never pick them up($199.99 each, I wonder why...), so the system just mark the price down automatically.

Both busts were very very nicely done and the paint job is flawless, beautiful pieces.

I tried to be a Bome completist but gave up due to so many varaints..
But still, I have almost very single one of them(think I omitted one or two) and liked them all, so if you like Oni Musume, go for it.

And I have the original ver of that Queen's Blade Echidona, it's a decent figure and I was kinda upset when they said there's going to be a dark ver...which looks better than the original IMO...
As long as it's not over-prised(should be around $50), go for it.

Anyone know of a good site that can get them cheaper? even ebay prices on them have sky rocketed.

I so want to get my hands on Ciel from Melty blood. Hell i would even get a resin kit of this one if it were made.

I'll resurect this thread again. :D I usually post on SSF and there isn't a thread dedicated to Anime figures, so it was nice to find this one here.

I don't have many figures myself but I just recently decided to focus mainly on collecting Anime figures, so what I have will slowly start to grow. I'm mostly focusing right now on figures based off the artwork of Shunya Yamashi.ta. I have one right now that I'll post pics of and two more on the way that I'll post pics of when they arrive.

Plus, all these figs are in my office and not in the main rooms.

Ha hah ha! Actually, the "defective" fig isn't actually defective. Just photoshopped. The photo Web host I used is strict on photos posted, so I just wanted to make sure the pic wasn't removed and added the squares.

I wasn't gonna post anymore pics of my figures since it seemed like nobody came in here but it looks like at least a few do, so I'll post some more.

I've been trying to get as many Yamashi.ta figures as I can lately and it's been going pretty good so far. I'm getting the ones I can that are still available anyway. Here's a few I picked up recently and I have 4 more on the way to me that I'll have next week. :D I also add a gloss to the hair of all my Anime figures and female pieces in general. Two of them I posted here, Non-Non and Canal, I hadn't done it yet but the rest have the gloss done on the hair.

It happened guys. Thanks to the help of a friend I was able to get my hands on my grail Shunya Yamashi.ta piece, the Mirei-san Figure. Better yet, the one I got was never opened and still sealed in the box, which is pretty rare for a collectible that's been out for a few years now in my opinion. After so many times wishing I had this figure, I finally do and it's a great feeling. Here's a decent size batch of pics to take a look at and sorry for the glare, the sunlight was being a pain.

I ordered my Mirei-san through a dealer/friend in Japan because it was suppose to be "eastern Japan limited version", while there was also a "western Japan limited version" features blone hair and a differnt color suit.

It costs me about $70 because it's suppose to be a limited release for eastern Japan ONLY...

But not even weeks after I paid for mine it is re-released in huge batches and distributed to U.S. market with a retail of $20...:banghead:

If I had a gun in hand I would totally buy a ticket to Japan and shoot everybody in Koto office.

Most of my PVCs are topless and half of those are nude
so a picture of them all on a shelf would probably break
one of the usual rules against nature. There are a few
exceptions of course:

I guess because I think the artwork on the box is better than the actualy figure. That's not to say I don't like the art of the figure, afterall I did buy them. I just don't want to separate them. But I'll most likely end up taken out of the boxes when I get the Psylocke fig from this line. But for now, here are my Rogue and Black Widow figs still locked away in their boxes.

It's a sweet piece! It was one of my first figures when I started collecting. I wish the other colors came in different poses. I would have bought those.

That real Yoko statue in the background is cool. I know nothing about the character yet I was thinking about picking up the statue. I can't get into the show. Probably need to try again someday...

I haven't actually watch a full episode myself. I just thought the figure was cool.
