View Full Version : On manliness, or the decline of masulinity...

Greetings Everyone.

I have some very important thoughts I would like to share with the rest of you, an essay if you will on a subject I hold very near and dear to my self. Manliness. Being a man. Cajones. Balls. Letting your nuts hang. You get it.

Anyway, Ever since "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy", Justin Timberlake and Crocs for Men have come upon us, I've seen a decline in masulinity. Men wearing pink, tight shirts. Men wearing tight jeans only women should wear. Men ordering salads and nothing else. Men drinking wine. Men talking about their feelings and crying.

For those of you who this is the norm, just shoot yourself now, or be the woman you have become and stick your head in an oven or something.

If you live for chisled abs and striations in your ass, you suck. In fact if you enter a gym and the word "chisled" even enters your vocabulary you suck.

People don't want to be tough, they want to look good. Look at the pathetic state of professional sports. Look at our celeberties. Emo. Who the **** invented emo? Why is that crap even a genre? And why the **** do MEN listen to that crap.

Again, if you are a man, and you have purchased an emo album, whack yourself in the balls with a hammer mary, you are beyond hope.

Men don't discuss, men do. We aren't pigs, we hold open doors for women. We give up our seats for women and old ladies. ****ing punk ass kids these days sit on their soft fat asses and make old ladies stand up. I hate that ****. Shivalry is not dead. Get your soft ass up and be a man. Hold a door open once in awhile. Talk to a lady like a lady, none of this, hey baby you are so fine ****. For real. ****ing pukes.

Be a hard ass. Play no pads football and bleed a little. Slide across the grass painfully and feel your teeth clench when you make a good hit. Say you're playing "touch" and then tackle the **** out of someone. It's the man thing to do. Don't wear under armor to the gym, that makes you a *****. DOn't worry about your pecs, worry if you can't kick the biggest guy there ass.

If you see a young man who suffers from the dreaded beyotch disease, slap the **** out of him. Take their ipods and beat the rap music out of it and then slap their fake gold teeth out of their mouths (why these goddamn kids take the worse of black culture and think its what's "cool" is beyond me, cause there is nothing more I like then being reminded I'm just a ni$#er on a daily basis, **** me).

Be a man. Not a beyotch. Save the planet, because we don't want the meek to inherit the earth. Goddammit.

haha this is great... honestly i think my generation of kids (i still consider myself a "kid", im only 18, just a big kid) will be one of the last to have physical fun. im pretty much a 90's kid (born in 88) and when i was growin up, computers were just coming out, and were too expensive for everyone to have. and that comment you made sammy about goin outside to play football brought back some memories. me and my friends would go outside, play takcle football in the front yard, race, and do fun stuff like that.

anyway, what im getting to is that now, computers are the norm, and kids are always inside playing video games or surfin the web... i mean my cousins who are only a couple years younger than me already do this. this is all they do, and it makes me wonder how kids will turn out...

i know when i have a kid, im kickin his butt outside to play, heck, ill even join him...but this is just a tangent, so yeah sammy, kicka** post.

I just have a problem with dudes who act like a beyotch and think that they are still men. ****ing pansies. :stick:

Not sure where I fall in that list. Some bands that get tagged as 'emo' do make some cool music. But I'd never wear pink. I doubt I could kick many arses. But then I play real football, where all you pad is your shins, and I bleed on a weekly basis. Tricky.

Never said you had to kick someones ass, just miss the days when that was important. Most of what I said is really just a metaphor. What is important is being a good friend to your friends, standing by your mates and helping those in need and not being a selfish prick all the time. **** politics and political feelings and all that bull****, I have no time for that ****. If you need politics to make you a man then you are a complete *****. A man stands on his own and does right by his. Right on bro. I like wine and will have it with a group at dinner, but the idea of sitting down with my buds and ordering Chardonay, or a nice white wine spritzer is just flat out sissified.

Wine coolers...how do you even rate these? I mean if sharing and clinging glasses of wine with the fellas is sissy, then wine coolers are impssible to really classify.

Bordeaux with Phil Donahue? or Sam Adams and Jack Daniels with Clint Eastwood?

You decide.

Very interesting take on what being a man is about, really had me thinking about what being a man is about and for the most part I agree with you. I would submit to you that being a man is taking responsability for yourself and your actions first and formost.
a man keeps his word.

Men cry, we just don't cry in front of anyone else.

If you live for chisled abs ( I hear ya, personally I'm not fortunate enough to have abbs and I gave up tying to get em a long time ago but I wish I had a sixpack only because woman melt at that, what isn't turning woman on manly anymore?R u saying you have to have fat to be manly?and striations in your ass, you suck. In fact if you enter a gym and the word "chisled" even enters your vocabulary you suck.

Men don't discuss, men do. Absolutley!!
We aren't pigs, we hold open doors for women. We give up our seats for women and old ladies. ****ing punk ass kids these days sit on their soft fat asses and make old ladies stand up. DOn't worry about your pecs, worry if you can't kick the biggest guy there ass. I don't know about anyone else, but when I meet a guy I almost always think Can I take this guy? I think thats part of the survival instinct we still have since the caveman days.I don't know why but that how I think.

I'll tell you why, because the Music industry glorifies that ****, thats why. They set the worst examples for our youth and have the most influence over our youth than anyone I can think of.Wether its MTV

True,
Think on this, what would you rather do, get into the ring or talk about your true feelings?
talking about my feeling scares the hell out of me alot more than taking a few punches-plus its more fun!!Maybe that why guys get into alot more physical fights in school than girls.
I started getting kicked out of school for fighting in 6th grade,I went to more than a handfull of schools by the time I got to highschool.
all because i thought I had something to prove.
This is a great thread though, I'm cracking up as I read all of it.

Hey I know what you mean about chiseled abs.

I do crunches, but I am not chiseled. My problem is I eat to much fat.

Yeah I would like chiseled abs for da ladies. That's it.

It's way to much hassle to have chiseled abs as Sam said with the salad diet's an all. I don't even like salad. So I won't even try that kind of diet. In fact I have never been on a diet. When I think okay now my waist line is starting to be too big. I just skip a couple of sweet's. That's my diet and it works for me.

I am 6.1 feet tall

I once had a wast line that measured 39" my weight was 98 KG.

I thaught that was a bit much because it was purely fat. So I skipped a few treat's, cookie's and so on. BTW I was still eating fast food, no one is gonna take my fast food away. I love fast food.

Then I came down to 80 KG and a waist line that measued 33"

Now im 85 KG and a waistline that meassues 37"

So no I don't have chiseled abs and I will probably never get it chiseled abs. Now if only the women would not be so uptight about chiseled abs and let men have some fat on there bodies.

I have no ida what "EMO" means?

Could someone specify this for me.

I think its short for "emotion", but other than that, I dont know what defines them, other than ridiculous hair.

You guys are starting to sound like a bunch of old fogies with all the emo hate. I'm sure you parents said the same thing about the groups you liked when you were younger, lol.

According to my 14 year old, Emo's are overly affected goth types, where their darkness and mood is just for affect as opposed to truly being part of their personalities. But, other than that, I had no idea what this term meant until Jonathan74 posted that link. Looks like my kid was pretty much right.

from what ive seen is that emo is a type of music. sad, emotional types like dashboard confessional, the ataris, etc. lately ive been hearing the term used for a type of group like wktf said his 14 yr old told him. so i guess as the years go by it changes. but when i was in high school we used it to describe bands that cried about the girlies, lol.

This was my favourite quote from the article.

"Critics cast ... members of the subculture as imagining or pretending that they lead harsh, painful lives when they actually live in comfortable, upper- to middle class homes"

I wish woman loved beer bellys as much as they do a 6 pack, I can do the crunchs but its the food that I can't go without for too long.
