wii and 5.1?

Does the Wii have the capability to use 5.1 sound? I don't see any connections on it for it, but the HD cables could include it.

I did little research and found that it uses Pro Logic.

Are there extenders for the white and red composite part of the component cables. I want to put the sound through my receiver and the component cables part in my tv. The TV and receiver aren't close enough for the HD Wii Cable I have.

I have mine hooked into my receiver, and I don't have the HD cable. I have absolutely no complaints. Then again, my TV isn't HD. In fact, it's more like LD. Low Definition.

From what I understand they're releasing Wii 2.0 which will have HD capability up to 720P, a DVD player, and a better video display adapter. Which means they'll be out sometime in 2010, just before the aliens land on the white house lawn.
