He is a little bigger that I expected though...awesome piece! I like the base much better on this one than Vader and Obi...Its a little thicker, and he looks taller than he's supposed to compared to vader....but awesome none the less!

The only thing I may do on mine(depending on how painted mine is), is to re-paint his horns a little darker, just like the 1:1 Bust. Pretty easy fix, though. :)
Other than this small painting detail, this is easily the best Maul statue ever!

Gotta admit I wasn't too crazy about the proto pics, but this is actually a really nice statue based on these shots. I'm surprised I like how it looks. I've dropped everything but Marvel, but I'd consider this a must have if I was still getting SW stuff. Very nice!

while i don't particularly like the 1:1 busts, i have to say, this is the best looking one. I like the fact that the markings on his face aren't raised, and more tattoo like, which is something that i have never liked with DM statues/busts. I do like the pose of this statue though. Glad I don't collect star wars, cause i'd have to get this on secondary market now, lol

Very nice statue, clothes are looking better than expected.
But the left and right horns (front) are not in the middle of the black tatoos. That's a fault which always disturbed me (since the first proto pics).
The Attakus Maul is still the best one, like Vader 1.

But i'm happy i'll get the exclusive Maul (thanks waitlist). It will be a very nice adding to my growing Maul collection. :thumbs2:

I got mine today - He's missing a bunch of rivets on the back of his belt though – the smaller belt pieces are pretty much flapping where they join the back of the belt. Funny thing is they aren’t even in the box. Be sure to check yours good.

Unfortunately he needs to go back for a replacement since his saber won't light up, but other than that I am quite happy with the finished product. (I do wish they had included the option for an AC adapter.)

I thought there was that option. If you look at the Maul QTVR (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/mas_assets/mov_qtvr/7160-QTVR.mov), you can clearly see an adaptor plug next to the switch.
Although I know it does state that its battery powered in the decription. :confused:

Yeah, with all of the head tatooed, every statue or figure of Darth Maul pretty much looks like DM because that face paint sort of covers the actual likeness of the character.

But the face itself just doesn't look like Ray Park to me at all. As I already pointed out, this is not that tragic on a Maul statue because of the face paint.

However, on a statue with a normal human face, this likeness would have "killed" the entire statue for me already.

Guys, the likeness is off in my opinion. I rarely say this, but I much prefer the Gentle Giant version just because of the amazing likeness they captured in theirs. I like everything about the Sideshow version, with the exception of the most important part, which is "does it look like him". I'm glad I passed.

Can anyone explain WHY Sideshow statues tend to have the lazy eye? How hard can it be to paint an eyeball, especially if it's your trade?! Seriously, if I was the QA guy, I'd fail this thing in a second. Or is it a cost issue? Do they pick up these errors too late in the manufacturing process and hope nobody notices/cares?

The more lazy-eye pics I see, the less I want to keep the statue when it arrives. I'm hoping it's not as bad in person as it is in photos.

Nah, should be a piece of cake if you purchased it directly from SS. Their CS is the best in the business. Mine is going back tomorrow (scratched base, missing rivets on his belt). I emailed them on Sunday and got the return label with verification that it would be replaced today.

For those having lightsaber problems, I did to at first. I grabbed on to the forearm and had to really push the hand on HARD to get it to fit in all the way and get a good connection. Presto...lightsaber works.

My advise helped a few people on the Freaks board, so maybe it can help a few people here as well
