Worth $5000?

Given the relentless demand for Star Wars collectibles and the fact that there is only going to be 50 of these made makes me think it could be one of the all-time super flippers in a few years.

Your thoughts?

there are not that many people who can afford to spend $5000 on a vader
statue and even less willing to pay more in the future to make it a good dolphin investment:redface:

I think you would be better off putting $5000 in a savings account.

If the statue was better it would have sold out in 30 min. Don't know if it's worth it. Not like the Bowen Bronzes witch are painted. Better ways to make cash. Get the Darkness PF it will be $$$$ a year after release..

Just not worth it IMO, too many other things out there to get instead.

Can't wait until November when my #13 arrives, early X-mas for me. Did not buy it as an investment as that would be foolish. Love Darth Vader, my favorite SW character, and compared to the other bronzes by Attakus and BD, it was a no brainer for me. Now if I can find an Attakus 1 Darth Vader, I'll be set for the Darth Vader's for hopefully a long time.

SW freaks will pay 3 grand for an action figure from the eighties.5Gs for a bronze statue should be pocket change

I can only see this going up in value once sold out.

I don't see this being a good flipper. It already costs as much as a cheap used car. I can't imagine people paying the $5k let alone more than that for a statue. Maybe 25 years from now or something but while in a new state.

Original props go for 10 times this amount, and even more. Star Wars collectors' pockets go very very deep. As said above, $5K is pocket change.

This piece will most likely not rise in value due to the already steep price despite the low ES.

Use the 5k to go to school and get a good job. Should be the best investment.

I disagree, I believe these will rise in value like the Gandalf bronze.

Dont most bronzed statues usually increase value regardless of their original price?

Yep. Bronze statues almost always appreciate in value.
(unless it is some oddball character or unknown of some sort)

That fact combined with the character of Darth Vader make this statue one to get
now if you want it, because it'll cost a lot more later. Hesitation may be expensive.

Look at the recent Bowen Bronze Spidey and Cap. Am. - over 10k and 11k each,
and that didn't even reach the reserve price.

Going to be very interesting to see if this piece really truly increases in value. Imo, a piece being offered for more then it's retail value but not getting sold, is not a increase in value.

We'll see, but i sure hope it does increase in value for the people that did shell out for it. Added bonus.

It will rise in value but it is not a good investment. By the time it appreciates your money could have better been spent on something more lucrative. :)

Well said. Even if it doubles in price, that's not very much on a percentage basis. If you truly wanted to make money, you'd be better off spending the $5k on multiples of a cheaper statue, like SS Doom when it first came out as an example. That has risen to 4x or more its value, which the Vader Bronze won't do anytime soon (20k+ is HIGHLY doubtful when you take inflation out of account).

I bought one because I really like the statue. I've wanted a bronze Vader for a long time, and the Bowen one just didn't do it for me. I don't really care if it appreciates in value. It would be nice, but I have no intention of selling. I would hate to see it drop in value, but I could live with that as well.

By the way, does anyone here own a bronze Gandalf? I would love to see actual photos of one on display in a collection.
