I thought that the line had been unveiled when I saw this thread.

No problem. :)

As the new series is the current money spinner, my guess would be a line of collectables from that.

So who was putting out the Dr Who busts that have already been released? At least I assume they came out, I saw some in the FP catalogue.

Cards Inc (http://www.cardsinc.com/c_soon_drwho_busts.htm)

I also found this (http://www.conceptgrouponline.co.uk/concept-x/index.php) company that had sculpted a tenth Doctor statue, which you can see on the linked page. I emailed them to find out about it. Apparently it was supposed to be released with a Rose statue, but there was some issue about the approval of Rose, and it's unlikely to see the light of day. Pity. :(

Holy God, I want those mini busts that were released from the new series. I didn't even know they existed until this thread! Were they ever carried by Diamond or anybody in the US?

So the 16th has come and gone (in New Zealand anyway) and no announcement other than a line of Prince Caspian collectables. What gives?

Well the details about what's going to released is here (http://www.wetanz.com/doctor_who/).

Apparently, it's going to be:

"The Weta Collectibles line will incorporate key moments from Doctor Who. The initial series will consist of four pieces, all of which capture a nostalgic scene from the series. Each piece will be made at 6th scale and made out of high quality polystone."

No mention of whether it's going to be from the classic series or the new one, and there's no pictures at the minute. They'll be at SDCC, so anyone who's going, post some pics! :thumbs2:

Lockford, all I know is that that Product Enterprises did produce a number of statues in that line a while back. I'm not sure how many of the nine Doctors were produced, and I don't know anything about edition sizes or sculptors.

Nice statue though.

Nice! I can't wait to see these things. I'm personally just a fan of Doctors Nine and Ten, but that's only due to lack of exposure to the previous ones. Here's hoping for some awesome Dalek and Cyberman pieces. I also really hope they make a statue with Rose... Maybe something from "The Parting of Ways." A statue of the Ood would be pretty cool as well.

I've just noticed that the Weta site is using both the new and classic series logos. Maybe what's unveiled will be from a mix of both eras of the show.

The Dalek is quite cool. Not so sure about the Cyber Controller though.

Hm... I'm kinda disappointed overall. When I read that the pieces would be depicting scenes from the series, I was expecting something more akin to dioramas with the Doctor, etc. Like maybe a diorama with Rose and the Ninth Doctor facing the squishy Dalek instead of just the Dalek. I was all set to buy this whole line, but I'm probably going to be passing now. Still on the fence, though.

The Weta website does say these are two of the four statues so maybe a Doctor is still to be unveiled.

A new piece has been unveiled. The Roger Delgado incarnation of the Master, with an Auton. Interesting.

I'd agree that it's not bad, but not great either. I also think that the pose looks a bit awkward.

Actually he's trying to stop him from pressing the big red button of death (well the silver switch of death anyway)...

I've seen every episode of Doctor Who (that still exists), grew up on the stuff, so I'm target market for this stuff. So far from what I've seen, I'm kinda split though.

Not really interested in the Dalek, and Cyber-Controller doesn't much do it for me either. I actually think the Delgado Master likeness is pretty good, but the pose is quite awkward, which lets it down. The Baker vs Davros represents a classic Who moment though, so I'll be very tempted by that one.

Though, honestly, I would rather see each Doctor in a more vanilla pose. I'd love to have a display of all 10 official Doctors standing side by side. Hartnell, Troughton, Pertwee, Tom Baker, Davison, Colin Baker, McCoy, McGann, Eccleston and Tenant, as well as the key other incarnations like Peter Cushing (from the movies), Richard Hurndall (who replaced Hartnell in the 5 Doctors) and maybe even an animated style Richard E Grant. Plus key villians as well. Then they could get started on the companions.

There's so much rich material to mine with Doctor Who, that if anyone ever manages to really capture the market then they could literally run and run.

I'm looking forward to see what else Weta comes up with.

I always wondered why Davros' wheelchair actually had a big button that enabled his life support to be switched off in the first place. Why would you want to? Did Davros have it installed to get some sort of bizarre kick out switching it off? :peoples:

Iconic Replicas has unveiled a fourth Doctor statue that's a better likeness, but rather creepy IMO.

Weta has also announced a range of Doctor Who helmets.

Now you're talking! I'd be far more interested in a range of museum pose Doctors than this line.

The Richard E Grant Doctor would be kind of cool too.
